First nightmare

As the guardsman had instructed them, they took the back entrance.

The yard in the back entrance was also having trees and plants planted and partitioned by a lane that led to a smaller building.

It seemed like the house was preparing for a special occasion as it seemed like the preparations going on seemed to be beyond a casual occurrence or maybe the affairs of the house were dealt in a grand manner.

A black haired girl stood at the entrance waiting for them. They could tell she was waiting for them because since she spotted them with the guard before he went back to his station, she had kept her eyes glue to them.

She had black hair and matching black eyes whose eyelids like that of the guards' at the gate, we're monolid. The eyelids covered a little more of their eyes than it should.

Wearing her servant's uniform, which was a grey dress having a white collar and white shoes, she looked well doing and better off than them.

When they reached her, she gave a forced smile out of Courtesy.

" Hello. I am Yuna. The butler had directed me to be your guide . Let me show you to the servants quarters and then I'll show you your stations" Her accented voice seemed friendlier than her face.

They nodded in appreciation after she finished talking.

After they were taken to the servants quarters which was located East of the lower floors, she showed them around where they would be working.

Diana was assigned to work as a maid in the kitchen the while Axel would clean the floors at the 6th floor.

The butler had reported inefficiency in the ability of the floor cleaners, which was probably due to the fact that they were few in number compared to the size of the house, hence the absurd acceptance of the new entries. Even though the building was kept in good shape by the servants, the butler being a perfectionist found flaws in their efforts.

After they had gotten themselves cleaned, they reported to their respective stations.

Diana helped in the kitchen in making the grand dinner for the special occasion.

She didn't know anyone so couldn't ask what the occasion was. She just kept her head low and did what she was asked to do by the others.

Even though she had limited knowledge when it came to the various utensils and equipment used in the kitchen. she did her best.

She was quick witted and had a strong memory so did her best to observe and take a mental note of everything taking place.

The kitchen was busy because the Lord of the house was returning today, hence the great fuss.

----------------------------

The sky was already dark and it was dead in the night when her chores had taken a pause. She had to wait for the end of the minor feast of the owners of the house.

After the dinner was over, she retreated to the room she was given in the servants quarters.

The servants quarters was divided into two, male and female quarters.

Each room in both quarters was to be shared by a pair of individuals.

However as Diana and Axel were just employed, they were each taken to a room being shared by a pair already, making three in their respective rooms.

Diana returned to the female quarters looking exhausted mainly from all the movement and exhaustion of sitting on a subway all the way from ferrous to Vanad.

As she lay down on had bed, her mind lingered on all that she and her brother had been through.

Her mind wandered to where she didn't want it to. Her mother. She didn't want to cry, she didn't want to break down in a room filled with other people who were trying to sleep after working for the whole day.

Holding back her thoughts and her tears she tried to fall asleep.

When she closed her eyes, she drifted off to a deep sleep.

She usually never dreamt but this time she did.

In a large extensive field where the plants grew high and green and a great big light source in the sky fell on the moist floor, she stood bathing in the light that penetrated through the leaves of the plants.

The floor she stepped on felt moist and slippery but she strangely didn't slip.

She could hear the chirping of birds and insects buzzing. She didn't know how she came to know of all the insects making those noises but she just knew.

She walked deeper into to the forest and stopped at a pond which looked crystal clear.

A beam of light that fell through the canopy penetrated deeper into the crystal clear lake.

The pond should be messy and muddy at the bottom but it seemed Sandy and clear bottom to top.

She looked down at the pond and saw her reflection

Everything about her reflection looked like it should but something caught her attention.

Her hair and hair looked way healthier than it should be. She actually looked like someone of noble blood in the reflection. Her eyes looked brighter and her skin looked smoother and brighter.

Enchanted by the beauty in her reflection, she crouched down and used her forefinger to touch the surface of the water where she saw her reflection.

When she did, ripples of waves travelled through the pond in a beautiful way.

She was so enraptured by the beauty of the pond and the calm serene environment that she wonderdd if this was heaven.

Heaven was said to be the most beautiful and peaceful place in existence so she wondered if she had gone to heaven.

She wouldn't mind dying. The world was a cruel place and fate had treated her with nothing but pain and suffering. If she died, at least she could end up in heaven and she was more than a hundred percent sure that her mother would be there. Then she could meet her but looking around there's was no one else in the vicinity except her.

Then one thing clicked in her mind, Axel.

Where was he? .She didn't mind dying, but leaving her brother all alone in the nasty world they were born in was not something she would ever want to do.

She suddenly didn't like the idea of dying anymore.

A little worried about her brother she attempted to get up and search for him but before she could, a large scaly claw shot up from the pond, splashing water away as it rose.

It grasped her hand in a tight grip that almost crushed her bones.

" Ahhh! " She shreaked and tried to free her hand from the hand that held unto her wrist. She tried crawling away from the pond but the hand pulled her harder.

She tried getting but that was a mistake as she slipped on the muddy floor and was dragged into the pool of water.

Her eyes stung from the water that entered them, she had never been under water before. In fact she didn't have the opportunity to see so much water before.

She tried to move away from the claw that held unto her hand tightly but was over powered.. The claws on the hand of the predator dug into her flesh and made her scream.

The scream came out muffled with bubbles because of the water.

Looking up she saw eveything above fade into darkness as she started to lose consciousness from staying underwater for so long.

She thought she was drowning but before she could lose consciousness, her eyes shot open in the dark room.

Her body was drenched in sweat and tears filled her eyelids. The fear she had felt under the water in the pond felt so real that even after waking up, it affected her greatly.

She drew her bony legs to her chest and rocked herself on the bed as she tried to calm her breathing.

She had never experienced anything as such. Usually when she closed her eyes, her world went blank until she opened them again. She had never dreamt in her life. So why now and why this?
