A savior

In a dark rusty cell where the sun which fell from the bright sky in Vanad didn't reach, a pair of ginger heads sat.

The girls sat with her legs drawn to her chest as she crouched on the floor.

She had offended the Yongs without even knowing that she did.

Her ignorance and innocence left her in this mess which seemed impossible to get out of.

After the scene that happened earlier today, the Yong son decided to wait for his parent's verdict on how to deal with Diana.

Her brother was not spared from the punishment. Even though he didn't accompany her to the building, he had stood by her side, hence he was accused of being her accomplice.

He sat in the cell beside her with his back against the wall which was anything but comfortable.

"What happened" He voiced the question which had been disturbing him for so long.

He had been curious as to why his sister did such a thing to the Yongs after knowing the rules.

"I was attacked in that building. I almost died" She whispered.

"Why did you even go in there?"

She passed a little and tried to explain her reasons in a manner which would be less stupid.

" I was in the storeroom yesterday when Beatrice the head maid located me and specifically told me to find a girl called Qingqing and ask for her company to the honak behind the mansion so I could obtain some tea bags from there.

I was a little bit hesitant because I knew the rules but then when I questioned her she said the madam wanted to drink that tea only and so had requested for it to be made" As she spoke her brother's eyes looked confused as the skin between his brows squeezed.

"Why would the head maid come to speak to you, that too personally. Didn't she have any company?" He turned to look at her.

" No she didn't. In fact now that I think of it, she seemed to be in a rush. After telling me what she wanted to say, she left immediately." She paused, now noting all thl signs that should have alarmed her but she ignored it.

" That sounds unlike Beatrice. She usually has a company of at least two"

"That's because it wasn't Beatrice." She spoke softly with sure conviction in her voice.

"What do you mean?"

He drew one of his legs up and placed his hand on it.

"After I found the maid Qingqing, who had been acting unusual lately,we went into the building but when we did, she attacked me and knocked me unconscious.

After I woke up it was dark already. Although I was unsure of the time back then, it should have been late last night or early this morning.

When I woke up, I was being dragged by her.

After I tried escaping I saw something unbelievable. The girl could shift. She even shape shifted into the man who stays at the gate. In fact I think Qingqing was just a girl she copied and took the place of in this house." After she said so she realised something.

If the Qingqing she knew was a copy could it be that the real one was still alive and somewhere?

Was that why Qingqing had a change of attitude, because there was a change of minds?

" I don't know who this Qingqing you talk about is but if what you're saying is true, then that means the real qingqing must be in trouble since this creature was able to take her place successfully." She just realised that too.

The real deal might be in trouble but she and her brother were in no position to help someone in trouble as they themselves had landed in a big mess.

" So how did you escape the creature?" He brought her back from her thoughts.

She looked back at him and pondered if she should tell him everything or just keep it a secret.

" Axel. I don't know if you can take the truth." Her eyes looked hesitant she wondered if telling him about the incident would be a good idea at all.

The things that happened in that hanok should stay a secret forever but her brother also needed to know.

After leaving Ferrous, they came across special people with abilities that were mind blowing but she didn't want that kind of attention on herself.

She just wanted a good house with nice air supply, food and her brother. That's all she asked for.

After all the things that creature said to her in the hanok, her blood was a very rare thing. It said it was a well desired treasure. She didn't know what that meant but if it could bring trouble to her or her brother then she would rather it stayed a secret.

"Just tell me the truth" He Smiled.

" I think I have an ability." His eyes widened and then his smile grew wider as he looked at her with excitement in his orbs

" This is Great news! You should be happy not being so sad and gloomy"

" I don't think it was such a good ability. I killed the creature just by touching it.

It was about to kill me but when my hand made contact with its own, it dried up as if all essence of life in its body left."

That made her brother quiet down as he listened to her story. This made her mood plummet down too. Did he think she was a monster now?

" There's nothing wrong with killing for self defense Ana. I know you're feeling bad about it but don't.

They would do the same to you if you tried to harm them."she smiled and hugged him as she sighed in relief.

"Is that why your face was covered in dried blood?" He patted her back as she relaxed in his arms.

"Yes. After it died I felt my body heat up and tingle in painful ways so I lost consciousness. When I woke up, my wounds had healed"

Then she pulled away and sat upright.

" What do you think they'll do to us?" She asked referring to the people who had kept them in this cell because they broke some rules.

" the punishment for lying alone is losing our job but you were accused of damaging their property so I don't know what those combined would invoke" He shrugged as if it wasn't a big deal.

They both had been through so much, especially Axel, that dying didn't seem so bad.

But as Diana remembered how scared she was when she was at the brink of death at the hands of that shifter creature, she realised that she was actually scared of death a little.

"I hope we get out of this alive." She said and he replied with a 'Me too' .

They tried to forget the punishment that awaited them. The young Lord and the butler waited for Mrs Yong to return home because she was absent when the incident took place.

While they talked, they heard footsteps approaching them in the basement and awaited who it belonged to with dread in their heart.

When the person came to light, Diana was both relieved and surprised.

"Tracie?" She saw the same brown haired girl whom she had been sharing a room with.

This girl had been the most polite and nicest person she knew.

Tracie was presently wearing a cap to cover her head and a bit of her face.

"What are you doing here?" Diana asked while Axel watched the girl he had been seeing with his sister but hadn't been too interested in her.

" We don't have time. They're going to sever your limbs if you don't run away.

You need to run away from this family or they will make you pay miserably." She rushed out her words as she tried to input the code to open up the gate. But it wasnt opening.

"What do you mean?" Axel got up ad walked to the bars of the cell.

"Well your sister tampered with their historic artefacts so they won't spare her or you because you supported her when you should have instigated her punishment.

So basically they're debating on wether to cut off yours and her limbs alone or just kill you both"

She said as she thought of the code before trying for the second time.

If she imputed the numbers wrong five times then it would send an alarm to the security officials in the building so she had to think carefully. She had inquired from her guardsman friend who used to work with the butler of the password but even his memory was hazy so she just had to try her best using what he told her.

"Do you even know the code?" Axel asked calmly unlike his sister who was looking gloomy behind him while her mind was in turmoil.

"Not particularly but a friend of mine gave me a hint on what it was"

After two more tries she got the numbers right

and the door opened with a green beep.

"you cannot go through the gate but I know a secret passage in this building that will lead you outside and far away from here. You need to leave now" She spoke in a haste.

"Why are you helping us?" Axel inquired unsure of her intentions.

"Because I know your sister's heart. And I know that this is the right thing to do" The short sentence left Axel confused while Diana smiled at Tracie.

It seemed a few good people could still exist in this filthy world.
