"I had an affair. It was a mistake, Xue. A one-time thing. It would never happen again," Ren said crawling to where Xue was, frantically.

"How... How can you do that to me, Ren?" Xue asked with her mouth open and tears still streaming down her cheeks, glistening under the kitchen's light.

Crickets chirped in the night making the silence pronounced. She searched her husband's eyes and waited for him to explain what he was saying to her. Still, up till that moment, Xue was hoping that it was all an expensive joke. However, at the same time, she thought about the reason why Ren would be joking with her with something like that.

"Trust me. It will not happen-"

"Trust you?!" Xue burst out in a burst of sadistic laughter. "Who? Who did you do it with?" she asked without glancing in Ren's direction.
