Run Forest Run

As i was falling from about 35 feet into a active water lake. I knew i would atleast break one of my leg bones with this scrawny body. That's why i had a plan.

30... 25... 20 ... 15...

I kept my eyes on the wall infront of my face to the wall, Looking for a specific spot.

' Little Peter Falling down falling down falling down and Stick it in the wall right here. '

Thuckk..khhh..

I used the stick i held and jabbed it into the gap between two huge rocks. Now my fate depended on how hard were the rocks stuck together.

Their were two possible things that could happen now either the rocks get unstuck and i get crushed to the bottom of the lake. Or ..

Crack..Thakak.!!

" Whaaa " Splash...

Perfect. I knew the stick wouldn't be able to hold my weight falling at such speed so i used it as a way to break my momentum . Thats why now instead of any broken bones i had just some minor cuts on my palms. And i could swim out of here.

But as i was still sinking due to the momentum i scaned the water for any predators, There were none that means there might be a scarier predator on land close by that uses this clearing. I needed to get out of here. I swam towards the shore i had seen before falling down without surfacing. I held my breath and just swam.

The water was so clean i could see the bottom of the lake. There were some fishes here too.

Puhah..ha.ha.

As soon i surfaced i started taking deep breaths.

While walking towards the shore which was now empty. I look back towards the cliff, Only to find the panthers gone too. I sigh in relief and look around for a place to settle down for a bit.

I saw a tree that had a good hiding place in between some of its branches.

I walk upto it and look down onto my hands. They were bleeding from some places. I sigh and sit down on the base of the tree.

Now that the adrenaline was washing away and logical thinking was kicking in I turn my anger for this situation towards the culprit of this mess.

" You little shit what the fuck do you mean punishment?!? I already failed a quest yet their wasn't a punishment before. Where the fuck did it come from now.?! " I asked the system, I hadn't neglected the possibility of their not being cons to quests but i had thought it wasn't the case as i already failed a quest without getting a punishment setting my bias.

* Host is incorrect. The privious quest was just a formality from a higher being towards the host. Thats why their were neither rewards not punishment for it. But this quest is programmed for the host's phisical growth, As to not let host's growth stagnate their are both rewards and punishments for this quest. *

" What the Hell !?! Then why didn't you atleast tell me about this punishment for not doing the quest ?"

* Host you just didn't ask. ' Hehehe ' *

I knew i was just getting angry for nothing at a stupid piece of shit. And i knew now wasn't the time for berating the system for its wrongdoings.

So i just activated the skill Calm Mind.

" Ok, System from now on your priority for quests is to display their rewards and penalties first. "

As i look on towards the screen i figured if the system is working properly that must also means it's other properties and working properly.

" Inventory " I call out and the tab appears in front of me. I took out the firstaid kit. And started disinfecting and bandaging my scapes and cuts.

As i am doing that i look towards my surroundings and get a photographic memory image.

' I will analyse the surroundings after i am atleast in a safe place. ' As i look back up at the tree.

After bandaging my both my hands. I put everything back into the inventory and start climbing the tree. I was able to climb upto the spot in about 5 mins.

As i lean my back to the tree and sit in between the branches.

I was just about to cancel my skills and check the time left of the penalty. But i hear a sound that sounded like wings flapping and what followed it was an eagles screech.

I stayed still and press my body against the tree.

It was a very favorable coincidence that i was wearing a black T.shirt and black jeans. I was hidden well due the shadow cast over me from the branches and leaves.

I heard multiple thuds coming from the lakes side.

Those that didn't sound like a birds landing, those sounded like something heavy had landed near the lake. I waited a few seconds after hearing multiple screeces i leaned down a little to check what the creature was.

What i saw made me feel giddy and terrified at the same time. I was thanking my luck for not having deactivated the skill Calm Mind. If i had i would have showed the creatures name outloud.

A brown coloured quadrupedal creature with a head and front two legs of an eagle and tail and lower body of a lion.

Thats right what had landed near the lake were Griffins. To be exact 3 griffins , One was vigilantly keeping an eye on its surroundings, one other was drinking water from the lake and the last one was a lot smaller than the two was playing and jumping around in the water.

' Fascinating, I wonder if i'll be able to take some dna samples from them. They look like a family, This must be thier hunting ground , thats why there was no predators in the river. ' I admire the scene while still holding my breath.

' Observe. '

Age : 3 Years. Emotions : Curious, Hungry *

I watch on as the baby griffin dives into the lake to eat some fish. And the mother Griffin follows after. Soon they come back out and drop the fish on shore as the baby one gorge's the insides of the fish.

Its been 15 minutes as i am starting to feel hungry. I hear the male Griffin screech towards his family as they screech back and soon all three take of into the skies.

I sigh and finally relax a little. I wait a minute and keep an eye out for their return. When i have confirmed they weren't comming back anytime soon. I come down from the tree stealthily and walk towards where the griffins had been.

I saw some of the feathers of the baby and the mother griffin in the water and some saliva on the half eaten fishes.

I quickly take some samples using the stuff from the first-aid kit and climb back to my secure place in the tree. I glance towards the timer for the penalty.

I still had more than 2 hours left here.

As i feel hungry so i take out the pair of meat buns i got from my daily exercise last week. They were still warm. I had asked the system how that was possible, I had thought that my inventory had a time stoping function but the system said that wasn't the case.

Apparently until an item that has been provided through a quest that has not taken been out of the Inventory even once stays in an energy form. When it has once been taken out then it counts as an edible and stars to expire.

I open the paper wrapping of one and put the other in the inventory. It was delicious and hot.

" I guess i'll just rest my sore muscles here till the time runs out. "

(3rd P.O.V.)

Parker Residence, In the living room.

" What's wrong May !? I came as soon as you called." Asks Ben as he takes off his jacket, looking towards may who was sitting on the couch.

" Ben something seems wrong with Peter, I called him a couple of times but he's not answering and his room is locked. And he hasn't come out since your talk with him. " Says May anxiously.

" Don't worry i'll go see what's wrong. He may have just fallen asleep. Don't Worry " Says Ben as he starts to move towards Peter's Room.

After reaching the door he checked the door was indeed locked.

" Peter!? Are you Ok son? " Knock Knock..

" Peter !!? " Thuck .. Thuck

Thudd..dd

And suddenly Ben hears a voice of something falling." Peter !? Are you Ok?! What was that noise? Can you open the door now ?!"

" Huh, Um Yeah. yeah Uncle Ben everything is fine. I fell of the Bed, I'm sorry for not answering before. And umm i'll come out in a bit i'm not decent yet. "

Says Peter from the other side of the room. There was noise of stuff being moved and falling here and there.

" Ok Son, Me and May are waiting for you in the Living room." Says Ben as he goes to put May's worries at ease.

While inside Peter's Room. Peter is standing near the desk holding onto his left arm that looks to be bruised.

" Fuck, That was a big snake. Seriously its like nothing in that forest ever lived on land everything just thought of impersonating apes and gorillas."

He whispers to himself.

Peter than started changing out from his dirty clothes all the while keeping an eye on the screen infront of him.

On the screen it said.

* DING. . .Host has gained a new title [ Survivor ].*

* Survivor : For surviving 4 hours in an unknown mythological woods.

Perks : Have a higher chances of surviving if abandoned in the woods. *

* Host has gained +1 Body Stat Point. *

" Gee, I wonder why. Maybe because i have been running for the past hour or maybe because i got tail wipped by that fucking 3 meter snake. "

Peter says as he's facing towards the system, as he moves towards the door to go out of the room.
