Kingdom of Rosemoor

Amiel saved Irene that uneventful night.

Rossi, Amiel's sister, was the woman who was beyond surprised to see a mortal for the first time. Her long ivory-colored hair touched the marble floor as she hid behind Amiel's broad shoulders.

When Irene got up from the bed, she was flabbergasted to see Amiel and Rossi floating up in the air. She is wearing a flowy dress that is as bright and lovely as yellow tulips on a field.

With a pair of eyes resembling the color of the moon and pinkish cheeks, Rossi and Irene look like they are just around the same age.

Irene let out an ear-splitting scream, "WHY ARE YOU GUYS… FLY-... FLYING?!" She stuttered while looking above. Her eyes grew big and her jaw dropped to the floor.

Growing sleepy from trying to rationalize as to why these people around her looked so magical from the glowing skin, alluring pair of deep-set eyes, and of course the flying, Irene passed out immediately.

Gracefully lifting her arms, Rossi's feet touched the floor and hurriedly went in Irene's direction to assess her situation. "What did you do to her, Amiel?" Rossi then motioned her hands which made Irene's body float from the cold floor to the soft bed.

"I made her sleep, she is noisy." Amiel simply replied and walked to the windows, gazing at the overlooking view in front of him.

Amiel has pitch-black hair, a defined jawline, and deep-set eyes which seemed to carry a lot of stories to tell. Just like his sister Rossi, he also has fair skin. His thick eyebrows furrowed, contemplating why he even decided to save the mortal from the brink of death in the first place.

In the Kingdom of Rosemoor, supernatural beings existed. For countless centuries already, the Rosemoors have been living harmoniously without the mortals.

To them, mortals are just mere fiction just as how humans think of mythical creatures as a product of imagination. Each Rosemoor being has been given a power or a gift the moment they were born. Their primary goal in life is to protect the environment without getting in contact with destructive mortals.

Pacing back and forth while rubbing her temples, Rossi could not help but think about what has gotten into her cold-hearted brother to save a mortal, it is just very unlikely of him.

Mortals are not considered a threat in Rosemoor for they cannot enter the sacred and powerful portal to their world. The portal is not even visible to a mortal's naked eye. Amiel could not stop thinking as to how he managed to get the woman to Rosemoor.

In a flash, Rossi stood beside Amiel. "Brother, what will we do to this mortal? This has never happened before," She hung her head low and began biting her nails while imagining the possibilities of what might happen to them.

He faced her, "Rossi, that mortal's life was in danger," and pointed to Irene who was soundly asleep. Rossi scanned her brother's facial expression and looked him directly in the eye. "What?" Amiel irritatedly asked.

Amiel and Rossi are with golden hearts, she also did not want to make the mortal leave at this rate. She is wounded, and bruises are even starting to form all over her body. The Rosemoors do not experience bleeding and hurting as a human does but they could tell that Irene is in a lot of pain.

Rossi took a step forward to her older brother, "Would you let me look into what happened last night?" She asked him, hoping he would agree so that she can understand the severity of the situation.

Rossi's gift is knowing a person's feelings, and stories, and getting into their memories by looking directly into someone's eyes. She could get inside someone's memories as if she was there herself.

She has not perfected her gift yet so she feels pain wherever she tries to do it unprecedentedly, like right now. But she was more than willing to do so in order to see how in danger the mortal was before Amiel saved her.

It was rainy night dominated by thunder and lightning. Century-old trees are swaying against each other with every gust of strong winds. And there, Rossi saw the mortal running for her life and then followed by loud gunshots echoing through the woods.

The mortal was in really bad shape, obviously injured and soaking wet. Amiel was observing the scene in the woods. Sneaking out of the Rosemoor portal was something he would do late at night. Rosemoors have the ability to go outside the portal but no one except him was brave enough to go outside the portal.

The next thing Rossi witnessed is Irene standing on a very dangerous side of a cliff where with one wrong step, she would come in contact with death. Amiel gritted his teeth at the sight of it and was already on the edge of helping the mortal. He was taken aback when the mortal jumped on the cliff, he could sense the fear written all over her body.

"Stop!" Rossi screamed when the vision turned to something she couldn't take anymore. She confronted Amiel, "I know you, my brother. You would not have let those bastards go away easily. Tell me, did you kill them?" Amiel knew too well that his soft-hearted sister was hoping he would say something like he did not.

He avoided her gaze and turned to leave the room, "I taught them a lesson, Rossi." That was all he replied using his dark and cold tone before leaving. The truth is, he burned the bastards to a gradual death. Amiel could not stand seeing abusive people.

Rossi is left to look after the mortal on her own. Only if the mortal would wake up already so she could look into her memories and know where she comes from. She doesn't have an idea what the world of the mortals is like.

Irene slowly opened her eyes, realizing she is still at the same place she remembered a while ago.

She thought, "I may have hit my head so badly on the rocks which is why I am seeing things like extremely beautiful flying beings wearing fancy clothes as if they are about to join a cosplay contest. I must have gone crazy, that's it."

Sitting up straight, her wounds and bruises became visible. Wincing in pain, she spoke. "Excuse me," Rossi, who was looking outside the window earlier, came to the mortal's side.

"How are you?" Rossi asked with all the worry evident in her angelic face.

As for Irene, she was sort of hypnotized as to how flawless the woman is. Her floral scent made its way to Irene's sensitive nostrils. For the moment that she stared at Rossi's honest and thoughtful gaze, it was as if her pain had gone away. She seemed to be drowned in Rossi's golden-colored eyes.

Irene blinked her eyes so fast, "Well. I am doing well thanks to you. Thank you so much for saving me," She expressed her gratitude, and a warm and salty batch of fresh tears escaped her eyes all of a sudden.

Panicking seeing a mortal cry, "No, it's nothing! My brother Amiel was the one who saved you last night. Please, don't cry." She wiped the tears off Irene's eyes, Rossi could not help but cry as well to appease her highly empathetic self.

"What is your name?" Irene asked as she was trying to calm herself down, the more she sobbed, the more her physical wounds hurt.

Rossi sat next to her in the bed, there is something about this mortal that makes her draw close to her. She answered, "My name is Rossi. And you are?" She asked back while fixing her hair.

Irene's eyes widened, "You don't know me?" She pointed to herself. Rossi answered, "No," While shaking her head.

Considering her popularity, Irene could not believe that Rossi does not know her. Anyway, she shoved the idea away for this is not the time to talk about how popular she is. Someone had her kidnapped and they should pay for it.

"Rossi, can I borrow your phone?"

Rossi gave Irene a questioning look, "What? What is a… 'fown'?" She furrowed her eyebrows and scratched her head.

Irene could not believe these people don't have a phone. Somehow, she understands that they may not recognize her but not owning a phone is like another level of being isolated from the world. She explained, "A phone is something you use to call someone,"

"Is that something you own in your world?" Rossi stood up and faced Irene.

This time, it was Irene who gave Rossi a questioning look. "What do you mean 'my world'? You sure do speak weirdly," She replied. Irene added, "At least give me something to eat, Rossi. Please, I am starving,"

In no more than five seconds and with just a snap of a finger, a tray of food appeared in front of Irene which made her faint. This time around, she is certain that it was not just because she hit her head last night. "Something is wrong with this place. Are they witches?" She asked herself out loud.
