The Other Room and Solution

"I know what you two are thinking. Stop that! There is nothing going on between us. Don't create false rumors that will put me in trouble". Shawn said and glared at his two friends.

The two just smiled innocently as if they didn't know what Shawn is talking about, Natasha, on the other hand, is completely confused as to what is going on between these three.

Shawn looked at Natasha once again to confirm what she wants to do.

"Once again, are you sure about this? I don't want to be the center of attention because of your decision". Shawn said flat out, he knew things can go south with Natasha's boyfriend being involved, he is that typical arrogant douche who flaunts around with his massive built bulling anyone weaker than him who can't defend themselves.

And with his parents being richer than the average kid, he has students who act like his goons so they can benefit from his parents' money.

Shawn never understood girls who date these types of people but he never judged, they can like whoever they want, at the end of the day it's a matter of physical attraction, and when it comes to love Shawn really doesn't believe in love.

He believes love is just a chemical reaction in the brain which makes one care for the other and nothing else, as time passes this thing called love will fade away.

Hearing Shawn's question, Natasha is a little offended, she understood what Shawn meant by becoming the center of attention and she couldn't blame him, her boyfriend can be an asshole sometimes from her perspective.

"Don't worry about Jackson, I will inform him about it, there will be nothing for you to worry about". She said. Hearing her Shawn is glad, he then looked at Marcus and Ann and started to talk to them.

"Ya, I won't be coming to the party, Professor Newmon's research is coming to an end and I need to be there with him, I can't afford to party right now". Shawn answered.

"Shiiiit dude, you are too busy these days, you need to loosen up and get yourself a girl or you will die all alone", Marcus commented as he pitied his pitiful single friend who hasn't had any action in four years. Shawn is not a virgin, in fact, Marcus and Shawn lost their virginity on the same day, when Shawn turned 18 they both went to a local club and got themselves partners for the night, and from that day Shawn hasn't had any action as he got busy with university and his studies.

"I won't be wasting my breath with you right now, meet you tomorrow". Shawn decided to ignore his friend for now and head to the lab again, Marcus just laughed with his girlfriend as they watched Shawn and Natasha walk away from them.

Natasha followed Shawn quietly and asked a few questions on how to behave in the lab, she knows professors like Newmon had strict rules and regulations, Shawn briefed her on how to act, what to do, and what not to do, Professor Newmon is not too strict so the instructions are not too burdening.

Soon both of them entered the lab and Shawn saw Professor Newmon has already begun with his world, Professor Newmon noticed Shawn entering, he was surprised to see the young beautiful girl next to Shawn and got surprised.

With years working with Shawn, Newmon has come to an understanding that Shawn was not eager to be in any relationship and his focus was on physics and his studies, so seeing him with a girl and that too a pretty one is very surprising.

"Shawn, is that your girlfriend?" The professor stopped his work and asked as he believed that this question is more important than his research, he believed young people should enjoy their life as much as they dedicate their time to studies, he always told Shawn to be extroverted and talk to girls but Shawn would always stop him from discussing the matter any further.

Natasha blushed as she heard the Professor and looked at Shawn hoping that he would clear the misunderstanding.

"Professor, I have already told you I don't indulge in such things, she is my classmate and she wanted to join the observation team as well. She asked me to bring me here to talk to you" Shawn explained.

"Ah, too bad, she is a pretty girl and she looks good with you". The Professor said and continued with the very complex equation on the whiteboard. "I don't mind her joining and I needed an extra pair of hands in the lab, if she wants to join she can help around in the lab starting right now". He said.

Shawn nodded and looked at Natasha, he made eye contact with her and noticed that she is a little flustered by Professor Newmon's comment about her looking good with him.

"Don't mind his words, he is just too forward with them and doesn't know how to read the room at all". Shawn whispered into Natasha's ear, Natasha nodded her head and thanked Professor for allowing her to be an observer.

Professor gave her some simple workaround the lab and called Shawn to help him with the equation on his whiteboard, one thing Shawn is very good at is mathematics, Natasha started to work around the lab by first cleaning the place up as it is a mess, she would also glance at the equation on the board and realized that is it very complex and she couldn't understand some steps.

As she cleaned around the lab, she looked through the glass window to the other side of the lab where all the action takes place and right in the middle of the room on the other side of the glass was Professor Newmon's project stored.

Inside a massive machine holding onto a tiny metal tube that contained tachyon particles, these particles are believed to travel faster than light, if the Professor can make a massive breakthrough in this project, the future potential of humanity is boundless.

Natasha is very excited and wanted to enter the other side to check it out but she heard a voice stopping her from entering the other side of the lab.

"Natasha, you should stay here, for now, the other side of the lab is off-limits to outsiders". Shawn said as he noticed Natasha was trying to enter the other room. Natasha nodded and stopped herself before continuing to do her work.

Shawn focused on the equation and suddenly found the solution to Professor Newmon's equation and quickly pointed it out.
