Professor Newmon

As Shawn got back to his house, he noticed that his mother and her lover have disappeared, they are either inside her bedroom or they have decided to leave the house, Shawn put the milk cartons inside the fridge and headed back to his room and took a quick shower.

He then put on his usual clothes, put on his bag over his shoulder and walked out of the house again, and headed towards the bus stop, his destination is Dr. Newmon's lab which is very close to the university that he attends.

Shawn got lucky enough to find a window seat on a busy Monday, Valor city is indeed a very beautiful city even though it is not the biggest nor the most luxurious, people who live here are a lot better than the ones who live in a densely populated city.

Shawn liked living here, he watched the view through the window as the bus headed towards the central part of the city where the university is situated.

Shawn got out of the bus and along with him several students of the University, the finals are close and students are very busy with all the papers that need to be submitted. Since he works as an intern for Dr. Newmon Shawn has gotten a little leeway.

Without entering the University he directly made his way towards Dr. Newmon's lab, when he entered the lab through the front door he noticed a lot of papers and files lying on the ground, he looked around and sighed before walking towards Dr. Newmon's office.

As he opened's the doctor's office he saw more paperwork lying on the floor, his desk is very messy as well, Shawn looked at the sleeping doctor and sighed once again.

"Professor, wake up"

Shawn walked towards the professor and woke him up by nudging him a few times, the old professor woke up violently from his sleep and looked around as if someone just stole his research.

"Huh? Huh? Where am I?" The Professor said and he looked around, he finally looked at Shawn and sighed.

"Shawn, what time is it?" He asked.

"It's 10 AM Professor, I told you to not stay up all night". Shawn said and started to collect all the papers on the table according to their related topic.

"How can I sleep when I am so close!" Professor Newmon exclaimed with shining eyes, Shawn didn't say anything and just smiled, he could understand why Professor Newmon is so excited, if his research is successful, it will change the future forever.

Interstellar travel, time travel, etc, his research can become the foundation of all these things that humanity has ever dreamed of, to explore the whole universe.

Professor Newmon would become the most famous person in the world if he succeeds.

"I understand but you should sleep well or you can weaken your immune system, lower your thinking capacity, and there is also the risk of certain cancer or diabetes". Shawn said.

"*sigh* I just can't help overthink this, you know I spent half of my life into this". He said while sighing.

"I know professor but you can concentrate better after resting for a while, I think you should go to your room a rest well before continuing your research". Shawn advise.

"Fineee! You should go back to University and attend your classes as well, your exams are coming anyway. You can come back to lab once your classes end". Professor Newmon said.

"Sure Professor, rest well". He said and watched as the Professor made his way towards his room, the professor's house is connected to his lab so he always stays close to his work, Shawn looked at the short old man with white hair and a bald stop in the middle and wondered why people like Professor go to such extreme measure to do something.

Even though Shawn is very smart, his grades are perfect across the board, he never felt the drive to take anything to the extreme like Professor Newmon who spent half of his life working on his current project, he also did some other projects and research but his main focus has always been to study particles that can travel faster than light.

Shawn arranged everything properly and left for the University, he already missed his first period and his second period should have just started, he rushed to his class.

The hall of the university is filled with students, some are talking about random stuff, some are having a laugh, some look not so good, some were discussing the upcoming exam. Shawn rushed to the second floor where his class is being held.

Once he got in front of the door, he opened it and looked inside, he saw a middle-aged woman wearing glasses, brown coat over a tight dress, the woman looked at Shawn and adjusted her glasses.

"Mr. Barret, please take your seat". She said and pointed at the empty chair next to a blond girl, Shawn smiled at the teacher and walked towards the empty seat and sat down, he looked at the blond girl and smiled at her and she gave him a smile as well.

This girl's name is Natasha and she shares three classes with him, she is one of the hottest girls in the university, blond hair, big eyes, nice figure, many guys and some girls had a crush on her, even Shawn had a crush on her during his first year but he soon got over her as he got accepted as an intern, he got too busy with his life to care about his live life.

Natasha also has a boyfriend and has been dating him for three years so there is nothing but light friendship between them.

"Hey Natasha, did I miss anything?" He asked her. Natasha who is biting on the end of her pen looked at Shawn again and shook her head.

"You didn't miss anything, most of the things being covered right now have already been thought". She whispered back.

Shawn nodded and talked with her, they were also partners in their university project as they sit next to each other.
