Chapter Six

Peggy sat on the counter of Meredith's kitchen eating ice cream while watching Alex carve a pumpkin. After a few rounds of sex, the two couldn't fall asleep so they went downstairs and found Izzie sitting in the kitchen so they sat with her. Meredith walks into the kitchen with a jar in her hand, "What are you guys doing up?"

The three don't look up at her as they respond, "Couldn't sleep."

Meredith walks across the room and pulls a ziplock bag out of the cabinet. Izzie's voice catches their attention, "What is that?"

Alex and Peggy look over and see she dumped some dirt into the bag, "My mother."

The three of their jaws drop as they stare at her in disbelief, "Happy freaking' Halloween."

Peggy moves closer to look at the bag, "Wow whoever cremated her did a great job! There's no teeth or anything in there!" The three people in the room look at her in disgust, "What! The last time I saw someone's ashes they weren't nearly as precessional as this."

Alex stands up grabbing her arm making her set her bowl down, "Okay we are going back to my room because this conversation is getting weird."

"Goodnight guys!" Peggy waves at the girls as he pulls her up the stairs, "Did I have to leave my ice cream though? We could have found something fun to do with it."

He pauses for a second before running back into the kitchen and grabbing her bowl. "Get upstairs right now!" She laughs as he chases her up the stairs with the ice cream.

Peggy stood in the hallway of the hospital talking to her siblings on the phone talking about their costumes. "You all have your costumes for tonight?"

"I got a princess costume! I'm gonna be Belle!" Debbies excited voice rings out through the phone.

"That's amazing Debs! What costume did you get Carl?" Peggy smiles as she talks to her siblings.

Carl gets excited as he starts to yell, "I'm gonna be a ninja turtle just like the toy you got me!"

She laughs at him, "What about Lip and Ian, what are you guys going to be?"

"Well I'm going as Harry Potter and Ian's going as Ron!" Lip tells her giggling. "And Fiona's going as Hermione!"

Bursting into laughter she gains looks from everyone around her making her try and calm down, "That is the greatest thing I've ever heard!"

"What are you going as Peggy?" Debbie's small voice fills the speakers making her sigh.

"Sadly I'm working today so, I don't get to dress up."

Carl and Debbie gasp, "That's horrible, you mean you can't dress up and get candy tonight?"

She nods even though they can't see her, "Yep! I get to spend all day helping dressed up idiots fix their booboos."

Debbie sighs, "At least you get to help people and help them go out and get candy tonight!"

"Yeah debs, I do." Looking up at the clock on the wall she sighs, "Well I have to get to work so I will talk to you guys later."

"Okay love you, Peggy!" They all yell through the phone.

Peggy smiles sadly, "I love you guys too! Bye." Hanging up the phone she leans against the wall and sighs. Lexie walks over to her and looks at her confused, "This is my first Halloween not with them."

"I'm sorry," Lexie smiles sadly and that's when she notices Peggy's outfit. "Where's your costume?"

The girl looks at her confused, "Why would I wear a costume, better question why are you wearing a bonnet?"

"Because Dr Yang told me that we were supposed to dress up," Lexie tells her with a smile.

Peggy hums, "That's weird nobody told me anything about it."

They split up to go through their rounds and meet up back at the nurse's station. Peggy was standing behind her doing her charts when George walks over pulling Lexie with him. "You should always make sure they have their meds before you do anything else." Lexie mutters something under her breath while the nurse hands George a chart, "Thanks." He looks over at the stuff on her head, "I like your costume."

"Oh, well, Dr Yang said that we..." Lexie smiles at him before she's interrupted.

George leans closer to whisper to her, "Yang...is screwing with you."

Lexie stares in disbelief yanking the bonnet off her head, "Oh, I knew it" Peggy and George laugh at her as they move back to their charts.

Around an hour later Peggy was walking around the hospital looking for Alex and decides to look in an on all room. Walking in she's surprised with the sight of Alex and another woman kissing, letting out a gasp the two of them pull away. "Sorry, I was just looking for someone." Looking over to glare at him, "Nevermind."

Slamming the door shut her pager beeps making her head down to the ER for an incoming trauma. Holding in her tears as she rushes down the stairs and through the halls to put on dress scrubs walking to where Lexie, Izzie, and George were standing. Lexie looks over at her concerned, "Hey, what's wrong?"

The two other doctors look over at her confused, "Are you okay?"

She nods as the ambulance pulls up, "Yeah, let's just help this person."
