Surprise after a surprise

The black soul ring starts to raise from the soul beasts corpse as I relax my posture, finally I have gotten a soul ring for my breakthrough and one suitable for a mental type martial soul as well, it's about time to start absorbing it.

Hmm? What's going on with this corpse. The body of the soul beast connected back together in front of my eyes, but surprisingly it doesn't get back on its feet. The body just started to squirm and compress inward until it got solid and,,, turned into a skull shape?

H-how, how is that even possible it's made of freaking water it has no bones, like what how. I just can't comprehend it.

Weles:"Oh it seems we got a spirit bone on our hands"

I guess it did use its entire body to form it, yes let's just stop thinking about it.

Cai:"Let's deal with it later I have to absorb this soul ring before it disappears"

I pick up the spirit bone and store it in my storage device. Now that I have left the spirit bone matter for later I should focus on absorbing the spirit ring, this will be quite the leap from the last one and honestly I'm not too keen on rapidly improving my soul power this time, it's better to accumulate in soul elder more.

Well there is that and an improvement of 20k years in quality as well, my soul power compression is quite big so I might be able to fit it all in, well my soul power is in quite a weird place anyway it's the quality of a soul king but its abundance is that of a soul grandmaster so I'm not that worried if I cannot store that amount of soul power in my body, the thing is if I can handle it. I guess if I use any overflowing soul power to manifest my Caliburn ring that would work, yes let's go with that.

As I was thinking we already moved the boats near the soul ring as I cannot really maintain the ice platform while focusing on absorbing the soul ring. I sat down on the boat and started circulating my soul power bringing the soul ring closer to my body, and when it reached me it was finally time to start the absorption.

The soul power from the soul ring immediately surged through my entire body and I was quickly overrun by a sharp pain, it seem the soul power from this beast isn't as compressed as mine so I will have to turn it into my level.

I quickly started to work and started compressing the newly added soul power, honestly it was quite easy unlike reaching another level of compression, but it brought a quick relief to my pain.

Cai:"ack-"

I grabbed my head with my hand as a burning type of pain came through my eyes, I don't know what I could do to stop it so I grabbed my head tighter and tried to withstand the pain as best as possible, so many new types of pain I feel since becoming a soul master. While what I was doing while refining my body hurt more, however this is the first time I am feeling like this.

And so after my eyes hurt like there is no tomorrow for a few minutes it finally let go and I could open my eyes, everything around me seemed to be more precise I could think faster, see sharper, and the whole world was clearer.

Though the pain triggered me incapable of manifesting another soul ring for Caliburn, it seemed like the pay of was great, on the other hand it also fixed the problem of my soul power abundance. It still has a lot of room for fixing but it's definitely better than before, I guess from now on I will focus on fixing that problem rather than improving my soul ranks.

Though for the other changes it seems that came from my spiritual power reaching the spirit sea realm, I'm currently at 800 in spiritual power. As for why did this point improve, it seems my martial soul mutated. From now on its no longer spirit eyes but a new not before seen martial soul, I will have to name it later.

And it seems that the thing which changed is my previous spirit eyes got a thunder attribute added to them, though I guess it's more of a lightning attribute as thunder is just the sound that comes from lightning. Now that I thing about it soul land had both thunder and lightning attributes in this world and even a combination of the two.

My soul power though only jumped to rank 31 so the increase is only by one and the compression also reached the level of 6, these gains today are quite good and there is also the spirit bone. It seems that fate(read author(me)) wanted me to grow stronger this time around.

A new big door for improvement has opened up for me as well, thank god I am so talented or I would have rather stagnated than improved with so much things I have to pay attention to. There is the water attribute, ice attribute, now lightning attribute, spiritual power, soul power, sword intent, and that "holy" attribute.

I say "holy" but I also said unique before, though it's a bit of a stretch to call it that, to be more precise it's like a fusion between holy, light and yang energy, and then evolved on top of that to create a new one. In terms of its level alone that thing is not inferior to a universes law, something on a similar level to destruction and creation. Though of course the creation saint energy is incomparable to it.

Cai:"I'm done assessing my changes we should get going now"

Wels:"Well if it's all good then we can go"

And so my long lasted goal of finally breaking through was fulfilled after kind of cheating my way through, well whatever not like it matters to me it's only better.

Cai:"So in the end who should get the soul bone"

Cai:"At the end of the day it's a soul bone from a sea soul beast so it won't be that useful to Da Yi and Da Er"

Cai:"It's also most definitely a spirit bone that upgrades spiritual power so not that useful to Hei Long"

Cai:"In the end we have a choice between me, Weles, and Yuhe so who gets it?"

Weles:"That indeed seems to be the case but I already have a head spirit bone"

Hearing that I give Yuhe the most pitiful look I could so that she will let me have it, I'm quite selfish at heart. I want this thing for myself.

Yuhe:"Okay, okay you can take it, I'm sure there will still be a chance for me to get one in the future"

I happily took out the spirit bone after that was said and start fusing with it, this time the pain was quite easily manageable, and the only thing which was killing me was time as I had to be careful to safely fuse with it.

When I was done the feeling was wonderful my spiritual power rose by 4 times from that alone, I am now at 3200. That's good there is a chance I will reach spirit abyss realm before I turn twelve now, though a chance is still a chance.

After another 30 minutes we finally reached the shore and the hunt has officially ended, however before we even could catch a break a person came up to us and started speaking.

?:"So there you two are"

He took a deep breath before continuing to speak.

?:"I'm sorry to give you bad news as soon as you come back but your father and yours uncle has passed away today"
