Soul Land 3: Dagger God Douluo

The day before his spirit awakening, Xie Xie has a dream. A dream of another world called Earth, a dream of another life. On that same day, a power awakens within him. The Anime Compendium of Martial Arts. The MC will be very strong for his age, but not overpowered. He will still have to struggle, train, and preserve through hardships to gain his power. He will not have any knowledge of any of the Soul Land books. Also, he will retain his core personality, as his 'dream' of another life is more akin to watching a movie than experiencing a whole other life, so he will still mostly act his age. Finally, he will have a very close relationship with Tang Wulin. As the story develops, they will become closer, and their dynamic would be more like the one between Killua and Gon than a Goku and Vegeta one. No Yaoi. Disclaimer: I do not own any of the Soul Land novels, nor do I own the cover. Basically, I don't own anything in this fanfic. Just like how I don't own my house anymore because my ex-wife Karen took it when she took the kids. P.S: This is my first time novel/fanfic, just trying to improve. Put constructive criticism in the comments or reviews, please cut me some slack.

The Anime Compendium of Martial Arts

Narrator POV:

The Sun-Moon Federation. As one of the most prosperous superpowers on the Douluo Continent, it naturally had many promising youths, and it had dealt with many unnatural occurrences. However, taking place within it, in the city of Cloudsea, an unprecedented occurrence was taking place in the body of one of these promising youths, undetected by anyone.

What is this unprecedented occurrence then? It was, in fact, a dream. Nevertheless, this was not a normal dream. Wow, super shocking right? Sarcasm aside, this dream was indeed very unusual. This was a dream of a whole other world, a dream of another life. A usually common event for most people was turned into such an atypical phenomenon.

At the same time as this dream was happening, a strange power was being awakened alongside it. Sadly, not the power of anime tiddies. Even so, the power being awakened was a power with nigh-infinite potential, a power that could allow someone to stand side-by-side to dragons or gods. The Anime Compendium of Martial Arts. Alright, maybe it wasn't as powerful as I described. That was a gigantic exaggeration. In all honesty, it would only boost someone's already existing power. It wouldn't really allow the user to stand alongside gods unless the user was a godlike existence themself. It probably couldn't even prevent that bitch Karen from taking the kids and all your money, then using it to call a hitman on you while you try to use the meager amount of money you still have to treat the STIs you got from fucking Karen. Hahaha. Ha. Send help, please. Alright, let's get back on track.

Basically, if the user of the Anime Compendium of Martial Arts was facing someone way stronger than themselves, nothing in the Compendium could prevent them from getting their cheeks clapped. I mean getting defeated. It's the same thing, really. Anyways, the Anime Compendium contained different styles of martial arts, as well as weapon styles from many different worlds. However, there was one down-side. Without the needed anatomy, some styles may be unusable. For example, Haki is usable due to all people having willpower, and Full Contact Karate would also be usable because it had no energy requirements. On the other hand, some techniques are unusable because they require things that humans from the Douluo Continent don't have. That's why there are no techniques like the Eight Gates or Sonido. What, did you expect them to pull Reiatsu out of their asshole? Either way, the Anime Compendium of Martial Arts is still some broken shit.

Where is this Anime Compendium of Martial Arts located then? In the same place as where the unusual dream is happening, the mind of a certain child. This child's name is Xie Xie. Xie Xie was a small boy of 6 years. He had short, brown hair, and clear, green eyes. He was a cute child and had an average height for his age. I'm saying that innocently, by the way. Unlike some of the people reading this who desperately need Jesus. Or a therapist. As for what the aforementioned kid was doing right now, he was currently sleeping. How else would he be having a dream? Dumbfuck.

3rd Person POV:

"Ah!" Xie Xie woke up with a start. He looked around, confused, trying to verify his surroundings. 'What was that?' He was still disoriented from his previous dream and was trying to regain his bearings. 'Was that really a dream? It felt so real!' he inwardly thought. However, being a 6-year old child, he quickly dismissed it, not wanting to think too much about the unusual dream he had. After all, even though he dreamt of a different life, he did not experience it, causing him to retain the mentality of a child. Just as he began to get up, he was suddenly hit with a head-splitting migraine. He cried out in pain, alerting the numerous servants within his household, as well as his father, before finally collapsing onto the floor.

As soon as he screamed, many of his servants, as well as his father came running to check on him, before finding him unconscious. "Ah! The young master has collapsed!" cried out a servant. This immediately alerted Xie Xie's father, who picked up the pace before finally arriving at Xie Xie's room.

"Get out of the way! Let me see my son!" bellowed Xie Xie's father, as he rushed to the side of his son, causing many servants to back away. He instantly checked him over, finding no detectable injuries, before turning around to interrogate the servants. "What happened to my son?" the worried and angered father demanded from one of the servants.

"I-I don't know sir, all I heard was the young master's scream before he suddenly collapsed," the cowering servant responded. Xie Xie's father seemed ready to lash out, before restraining his anger and speaking.

"All of you, leave," he ordered, in barely restrained anger. He quickly calmed down, before carrying his son off the floor onto his bed, and sighed. He looked at his son in worry, before inwardly criticizing himself. 'It's my fault. I haven't been paying attention to him enough after my wife's death. I was planning to talk to him after his spirit awakening, but now he might not be able to attend that tomorrow if he doesn't recover soon. If I had paid attention to him more, maybe this wouldn't have happened. Maybe, our relationship wouldn't be so strained," the man lamented. He inwardly resolved to be a better father to Xie Xie, before looking at his son once more and leaving him to sleep.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

While there was a commotion happening on the outside, Xie Xie was inside an unfamiliar place. However, information popped up in his head, telling him that he was in his mindscape. The young child was quite startled by this information but quickly dismissed it in favor of surveying his surroundings.

He looked around in mild confusion before his attention was drawn to a massive building. It had two colossal doors in the middle, and it was shaped like a traditional library. Majestic pillars held up an extravagant roof with gold lining. Even the floor tiles leading up to the entrance of the building were made of platinum,. His eyes were drawn to the top of the building, which had a shining golden plaque at the top revealing the name of the building.

It read, "The Anime Compendium of Martial Arts." Xie Xie's face scrunched up in concentration before breaking into a large smile, as he thought to himself, 'Anime? Isn't it the name of those super-cool shows from that weird dream? Does that mean my dream is real? Awesome!' His enthusiasm heightened by this realization, he quickly busted open the doors to look around the building. He didn't think much about the meaning of the dream, only excited by the prospect of anime due to him being only 6 years old.

He began to run inside to explore before suddenly stopping to think. 'I know what anime and martial arts are, but what's a compendium? It sounds really cool. Maybe I'll be able to learn the moves of the anime characters. I'd be able to go BOOM and POW like the characters from the shows. That'd be awesome!"

Finally done thinking, Xie Xie raced into the building, finally getting to look around the interior. However, he was instantly disappointed by the interior of the building. It was basically just a gigantic library, just with better furnishing. Sulking, he complained out loud, "What the heck is this! It's so uncool. All of this is just a ton of books." Someone up there must have heard it, because, after that declaration, he stumbled upon a letter.

[A/N: Just to clarify, Xie Xie can do basic reading, such as reading simple novels, titles, and letters. I don't think this is a stretch since I read the first Percy Jackson book in 1st grade, which is the grade Xie Xie would be in if he were on Earth. On top of that, he is from a rich family, and would probably be required to at least do basic reading and writing at his age.]

It read, "Yo! If you're reading this, you're the new owner of the Anime Compendium of Martial Arts! Pretty shitty name if you ask me. That's why I'll be calling it the Compendium in the rest of this letter. But that's not the point. Anyways, congratulations! Now, you may be wondering what the Compendium is, and I'll tell you. This may not be the ultimate cheat, but it's pretty fucking helpful. It contains techniques from various animes, and even webtoons and manga. As the owner of the Anime Compendium of Martial Arts, you'll be able to learn some of these martial arts. However, some sections may be restricted due to how strong you are. As congratulations on becoming the new owner, I'll give you one of my favorite techniques, Haki, which you would normally only be able to view when you are much stronger. Anyways, don't bother trying to look for the origin of the Compendium. It's existed since the beginning of time. Oh yeah, by the way, you can use that computer next to this letter to search for what you can learn at your current power. Pretty convenient right? Also, just as an FYI, you can teach anyone what you've learned in the Compendium. It's just a question of whether you want to. Anyways, I'm probably gonna die in like a few minutes, so I'll finish this letter off here. Bye! - The previous owner of the Compendium."

Xie Xie sat there staring at the letter for a few minutes before breaking out into a large grin. "AWESOME! I can really use the powers from those anime characters I saw! I'm gonna start learning something now!" He quickly rushed to the computer beside him, before clicking on the only application on it, the Anime Compendium of Martial Arts app. He clicked on the tab showing the words, "Learnable Arts" before immediately sighing in disappointment when he saw that there was nothing he could learn yet. His mood quickly picked up when he remembered the Haki manual he got for free sitting next to the computer. He opened it up, causing all of the training techniques, as well as the description of the Haki techniques to flow into his mind. 'Woah! This is so cool! I know how to train and unlock my Haki now! With the Compendium, I'm gonna become so strong and awesome!' He began to go over his memories before finally realizing that he was still probably unconscious outside. Xie Xie started to look for an exit, before finding one near the back of the Compendium saying, "EXIT! Wake up using this door!" before running to the door and finally waking up.

Extra A/N:

About Xie Xie not being really influenced by watching another life. It's because of a few different reasons but the biggest one is that he's a kid. Sure he may be in a cultivation world where everyone is super strong, but as a kid, he probably wouldn't dwell too much on the details of the other life. He'd probably be able to remember the things he deems 'cool' such as movies and anime, but things like school and work are things he probably wouldn't mention. Also, although I didn't say this in the chapter, but the person in the 'other life' he was viewing died very young, like 15 years old or so. He will, however, be able to watch the person in the other life later on, where I'll clarify more about the life of the person he's watching.

Well, here's the first chapter. What did you think about it? Was it good? Bad? Please put any constructive criticism or idea you have in the comments. Or you can put "fake and gay" for fun. Just kidding. Please don't do that. I'll cry. Jokes aside, please cut me a bit of slack, this is my first novel/fanfic.

Comment down below any suggestions for things I should let Xie Xie learn! Also comment a better title for the story, or whether to keep it, cause I don't really like the current title. Also, my naming is shitty. You should know that from the city name.
