Solpolus-The world of souls

I wish for a new hope. Waking up after dying, Lex once again find himself inside a living and breathing body. Although he doesn’t know what happened, he’ll for sure not let this chance go. Disclaimer: This novel is inspired by the game Undertale and Glitchtale(Mostly GT). However it’ll only be similar in the world setting(aka souls and monsters) and not characters so don’t expect to find any characters from the game. Even if you DON’T have knowledge about either of them you can still enjoy this. The start is also a bit slow so try to give it a try till the end of the first arc(since each chapter is relatively short)

"Hahaha!"

"Hey, wait up!"

Children laughter can be heard across the hall. Looking at them affectionately was a lady with cyan hair. Soon, with a worried face, she walk towards a young boy sitting on the windowsill.

"Ken, do you going to join them?" The lady ask with a worried voice.

The boy turned back curiously, acknowledging her presence. The boy shake his head and a slightly shaky voice answered back.

"N-n..uo."

The lady could only helplessly look at the boy before giving him one big hug and returning her attention back to the rampaging children.

The lady was the caretaker of the place and the boy called Ken was non other than me, Simon Lex.

It has been more than 2 weeks since I have wake up in this world and I was able to more or less gain an understanding of the place I was in.

My name as said before was Ken. I live in an 'orphanage' run by the sole owner and caretaker of the place. Her name is Nasha, the lady I talked to before.

There's a total of 8 children, including me, living here. Even though I called this an orphanage, Nasha has more or less adopted all of us and we all considered her as our mother.

As for me, a person who's come in possession of this body, I haven't interacted with her that much. Despite that, I don't mind her presence at all as whenever I see her a feeling of gratitude arose from my heart.

As for information about the outside world, I have been learning bits and pieces about it from Nasha daily lessons.

The country I was living in was Roporious, a wealthy country that's considered the most prosperous place in the continent.

Unfortunately for us, the place we seem to be living at is the slum where the trashes of the country get abandoned. That's also how Nasha found most of us.

Another point of interest was the existence of a magic system in this world.

In my previous world, magic was a new energy that was founded about 200 years ago. They weren't very useful as science was evolving at a much faster rate than magic and all magic brought was some incurable diseases, the same one I got diagnosed with. Thus magic wasn't look at in a good light back there.

However mages are highly respected here and the sciences seem to only branch off of magic and not a topic of it's own.

The magic itself is divided into 6 main traits which is represented by it's color.

Kindness is green magic, Bravery is Orange magic, Perseverance is purple magic, Justice is yellow magic, Patience is cyan magic and Integrity is blue magic. The purer the color of their magic the stronger it is.

The caretaker Nasha seem to have the Patience trait as she has once showed us a demonstration.

She quickly gathered cyan particles in her hand and formed a whip out of it. Next she used the whip to grab onto a nearby tree and climbed on it. All the kids were stocked to say the least.

She said that most need to wait till 10 before their trait condense to start using magic. I was quite excited too since I never really got to properly use magic back in my old world.

Right now since I'm still not quite use to my body yet so I'm only watching the passerby in the window. Since I was bad with kids I decided against joining them for now. Maybe I will after they have matured a bit more.

The passerby of the slum is often times tired. Their clothes are damaged and most of them keep their head to the ground like they were afraid of the bright sun above them.

Sometimes one could see a person walking steadily with their face full of hope, possibly they were given the chance to move out of the slum.

And very rarely, one can see a person nicely dressed going through not hiding their utter disgust at the surroundings.

Funnily enough whoever the previous Ken was he seemed to also enjoy looking out from the window as time and time again pieces of his memories appeared in my head. The memory felt natural as if they were always there, which makes me slightly uncomfortable.

Today was one of the rare day I could see the third type waking around in the slum. The guy wore a extravagant shirt with gems decorated lavishly on it. The man has dark yellow hair and similar yellow eyes.

The person look around with a disgusted face before looking at our house and coming straight toward it.

'Hmm? Wait what? Why is he coming here?'

Nasha seemed to sense the incoming presence as she quickly called all the kids back and told the to behave. Then she hug me and brought me back to the rest of them.

'Hmmm? Why do I need to be here?'

A knock was soon heard and Nasha came out to greet the man. The first thing he did after coming in was complain.

"I wish the streets here were cleaner. This place always make my stomach churn when coming here."

Surprisingly for how he's dressed the man sound a lot less arrogant than I imagine. In fact the tone was light and it didn't seem like he meant what he said.

"Stop with the act Hans." Nasha said, obviously not amused.

"Haha, ok. But I got to be honest some cleaning up have to be done."

Glaring at the person called Hans, a chilling atmosphere spread from Nasha as she replied.

"Then told those nobles to do something about it."

"The reformation is still in progress, nothing much we can do right now you know."

"Tch, those useless council members. Where are they when we need them!"

"Calm down, we aren't here for that today k?"

Nasha quickly returned back to normal and turn back to face us.

"I called mister Hans here in order to help you guys manifest your soul.

I believe some of you have already condense your trait and the sooner you're able to practice magic the higher chance you can live a better life in the future."

A kid excitedly raise her hand and jump up and down.

"Yes Layla?"

"Mama whatss a soul?"

"It's a manifestation of your being." Nasha said smilingly satisfied by a good question. However the next sentence froze that smile right on her face.

"Maa, I don't get it."

Amused by the conversation, Hans offered Nasha some help.

"It's the thing to perform magic little girl."

The girl, Layla nodded her head up and down repeatedly, clearly expressing her understanding. The rest of the kids also seem to understood as everyone got more excited.

"Alright. I'll call the name and you guys come up ok? Tok."

"Hubris"

"Sahra"

"Gero"

Everyone who got called stood before Hans. Holding a strange rectangular looking device in his hand, he twisted it until it look like a star.

The device glowed in a pure white light and a wave of energy wash over the room. A small heart shaped thing appeared in front of the kids in front of the device.

However my attention wasn't at the kids. When the energy reaches my spot there was a feeling of something waking up. Soon the thing revealed itself. It was a red heart shaped object.

I was sure, this was my soul.
