Solitary Vampire

It’s the year 2357 on earth and the world has been at war in a three battlefront against humanoid lizards gifted by magic called dragonkin, aliens that had far more advanced technology called the Xalorians, and the remnants of angels and demons called ShadowFallen.  No to mention the aggressive beasts that roam the universe Through the war humanity has grown too big to stay only on earth, having finally gone to space and occupied planets that one could only dream of, but the universe’s mysteries are far and wide but closer than you may think. Rosaline, a young 16 year old girl, had been given a book to her by her dead parents that had died on the battlefront against the dragonkin before humanity and the Xalorians signed a treaty in the name of ‘preventing’ war and to deal with the powerful dragonkin. Like that treaty had ever stopped war and the Xalorians being hostile towards humanity. But no matter how hard she tries to open the book it wouldn’t give her face, not even pouring acid. But one day just before she goes off to her new military school after middle school, she accidentally poked her hand and a drop of blood fell onto the book.  A system appeared giving her a chance to become stronger, thinking this was a miracle. What she didn't know at the time was that it turned her into something not human. A Vampire. ********************* This novel was inspired by a lot of different media that I have seen so you may see some similarities between them. I will make sure to mention and give credit to the media when that happens. Updates everyday at 16:00 EDT I will probably be able to pick this novel back up again in December of 2026.

Aiden’s New Weapon

After they had sparred for a bit, Aiden asked Lucas and Iris where he could find some grimoires.

Lucas shrugged and Iris thought for a moment.

"In SilverStream, there should be some grimoire shops. They are kind of expensive though…"

Of course she was referring to being expensive for Aiden, it wasn't 'expensive' for Lucas or herself.

"Then can I borrow some money? I will pay you back."

"Sorry, no can do. For me, your too weak right now to be able to pay off the debt. I'll only think about it after you become strong enough."

Lucas nodded to show that he was on the same page.

Aiden put his head down, disappointed and sad.

"Then where can I earn money?"

"Well there are the dungeons and also missions, but you can only do missions when you go up to 2nd year."

"Iris, dungeons for Aiden right now are a bit dangerous. Hey Aiden, you should first take survival classes before you do that."

Aiden sighed at how long it will take to get one.

"What do I use as a temporary weapon then? I can't just be empty handed…"

Iris responded to Aiden. "Go to Mr. Fang for advice, he knows more about weapons and who to assign them to people than anyone in this base."

Aiden remembered just how intimidating Seth was and hesitated to do so.

"Sigh. I get it, Mr. Fang is a bit intimidating but he won't do anything to you. He cares about us a lot."

"…"

Aiden stared blankly at Iris.

"I-I'll do it when I see Mr. Fang…"

Lucas tsked seeing Aiden being a scaredy cat.

"Just do it soon."

Iris remembered something and brought it up.

"By the way Aiden, the way you made those golems were pretty fast for a one star, even for me. You must be talented in the earth element."

"Oh.."

He wouldn't agree though because of just how long it took to make his Core.

Iris turned around and started to walk off.

"I've got to get going, nice talking with you both."

"Mhm, yeah, see ya."

"Bye…"

Iris left and Lucas and Aiden were the only ones in the arena.

"So, more sparring?"

"Ok."

Another day of classes started and Roseline was trying out her new martial art.

Earlier, she had seen Aiden get near the Coee Weapons class before backing off.

She didn't know what that was about so she ignored it entirely.

The steps of shadow fist were pretty easy for her, but that was probably because her body was slowly changing to fit better in shadows.

Affinities often did that to the body, or rather that the body wanted to better fit the way that the specific element moved through the body.

It looks like this martial art was made by some Vampire or someone related to one.

It made Roseline think, if Vampire are still out there, which they definitely might be, just how much do they affect humanity?

She was a bit curious about that.

**Tunk**

All of the students attention was drawn to Seth as he made that noise with his sword.

"Class will end after talking about a subject was you all."

"A military base has requested that we send a few students over for help. All of you will have to think it over if you want to go."

A student raised their hand and Seth allowed them to speak.

"What military base is it?"

"Military base 4."

Hearing this, students started to talk quietly about that base.

They all learned about the different bases here, because in the future they will have to decide which base they want to go to.

There was a total of 9 bases that the students were aware of.

Of course like every military, they had hidden bases that they wouldn't tell the students, but the students themselves didn't really care about that.

The class left thinking about it just like Roseline.

'Should I go?…'

Aiden stood infront of Seth's office door hesitating on whether he should come in.

'Ahh damn it, whatever!'

He knocked on the door and waited nervously for Seth to respond.

"Enter."

Aiden opened the door and saw Seth working on martial arts books, personalizing them for different students.

Seth stopped what he was doing and looked up at Aiden.

"I- uh, Lucas and Iris said I should come to y-you for help on picking a weapon…"

Seth nodded and got up from he desk.

He came up to Aiden and told him.

"Come to class tomorrow, I will be able to help you there."

With Seth up close, Aiden's nervousness peaked and he only nodded before waddling to leave.

Seth watched that scene and went back to his work.

….

In the quiet and respectful Core Weapons classroom, Lucas went over to Aiden who was standing like a rock and nudged him a bit.

Aiden slowly turned to look at him, his eyes blank.

The class soon started and everyone went to do their jobs an thing.

Aiden walked up to Seth and they stared at each other for a while.

"I've heard from Lucas about your strong suits and weak points, a grimoire would work well with you but for now you should use a shield. Go and pick one over at the weapon rack."

Aiden went to the weapon rack and picked up the one he felt most comfortable using.

It was a light weight shield that could expand itself through magic shields by using the user's mana.

Those types of shields were quite common for others to use, tanks don't usually go for such an option.

But Aiden didn't like just how heavy the normal options for shield were.

It worked for him too because when Aiden gets his grimoire, he will have to keep moving so that he doesn't get hit by whatever weapon may attack him in the future.

But of course, Aiden wasn't that strong of a thinking, only chosing it because of its weight.

Lucas took a break from sparring and looked at what Aiden chosen.

"Yeah that's definitely something he would chose…"
