Chapter 8- Dragon
A looming figure shadowed over Wisp as he was but a small being in front of this being, truly it was a monster of legends that only exist in books, its figure was humongous that it could even swallow the moon, its claws were so sharp that it could tear down the world, its body covered with scaled that as hard as steel, its eyes were so intimidating that you would think you would be eaten just by it looking at you.
A dragon, something that Wisp didn't think that would exist in this world.
"What is a human doing in this place?"
Its voice echoed around the forest, it was very ancient and full of pride, Wisp could not help but think.
'As expected of a dragon!'
"Umm, nice to meet you! my name is Wisp! I live not too far away from here"
Wisp introduced himself without a shed of fear.
The dragon squinted its eyes as if trying to look through Wisp, but it found nothing.
"Interesting, but human, this place is not for you, leave this place immediately, and hmm? Beasts?"
It turned its head towards Wisp[ back, when he looked back, he saw Reynolds and the others trying their best to get as close to him even when they are scared in front of the presence of the dragon.
"Ah! please don't hurt them! they are my family!"
Wisp immediately said as he saw them, he then made his way towards Reynolds and the others and hugged them to keep them calm, they were trembling from fear but they still wanted to protect him, such foolish little guys.
"A family huh?"
"Did you say something Dragon-san?"
"Nothing, you shall leave this place or you will suffer the same fate as me"
Wisp was confused by what the dragon said but when he looked at it carefully, he noticed a sword stabbed at the stomach of the dragon, it was very deep and there was a lot of blood leaking.
Wisp didn't know what happened but he immediately told Reynolds and the others to bring bandages and alcohol, if the dragon was left out for a few more times, it would probably die, and Wisp was a guy who can't let that happen.
Reynolds and the others hesitated at first before following Wisp's orders, they immediately ran back at the fastest speed towards the house.
Meanwhile, Wisp sat near the dragon while he waited for Kuro and the others.
"Human, I told you that you should leave this place, once my enemies see you, they will also hurt you, I am thankful for your kindness but I don't need it"
The dragon said to Wisp.
"Sorry but I can't, I had a promise, I will help anyone in need as long as they are in front of me, if I ever break that promise then I will be nothing but the same people who hurt you"
The dragon was speechless and looked at Wisp, it could not help but think how different he was from other humans, he doesn't show any fear, he was curious and he was also kind.
"I see"
The dragon nodded, it decided that if its enemies ever arrived, it will protect this human.
It didn't take long for Reynolds and the others arrived with a lot of items on their backs, it seemed like Ruu also got worried and followed after them, but when she saw the dragon, she was also scared.
Wisp saw this and hugged Ruu.
"Don't worry, it's okay"
Ruu calmed down a little bit and nodded, seeing she was now okay, Wisp decided to treat the dragon's wound, Wisp looked at the sword.
"Its futile human, that sword is a holy sword, other than the human who stabbed me with it, no other human could pull it"
The dragon spoke as it looked at Wisp who was observing the sword.
"A holy sword? amazing, let's see, tell me if it hurts okay!"
Wisp grabbed the hilt of the sword and pulled it out.
*Swoosh!
The sword was easily pulled out by Wisp as if it was nothing, the dragon looked at him with surprise and could not help widen its eyes in surprise.
"Oh it's out! wait a lot of blood is leaking! Ruu hand me the alcohol and bandages!"
Wisp immediately took the alcohol and poured it on the wound of the dragon, after making sure it was clean,m he bandaged it immediately, though the bandage was a little small, it still stopped the blood flowing out from the dragon wound.
"It's done!"
Wisp had a smile on his face as he said that, his hands and clothes were covered in blood but he didn't mind, he looked at the dragon with a smile.
"Are you okay now!?"
"Yes, you have my thanks human, can I ask what is your name again?"
"My name is Wisp"
"Once again you have my thanks human, I will return this favor back in the future"
The Dragon said then it stood up, spread its wings, and flapped it.
*Swoosh!
With a single flap of its wings, the dragon flew out from the night sky and disappeared from their sights.
"if you need a place just come to my place!"
Wisp yelled as he waved his hands.
"Wow, as expected of a dragon it's fast!"
Wisp exclaimed like a kid.
"Honeybuns! how can you be so reckless! that was a dragon!"
Ruu came and grabbed Wisp.
"It's fine, isn't it? It very friendly too"
Wisp tilted his head.
"But that was a dragon! they are very scary beings that could destroy a country on a whim! what if something happened to you! what would I do now if you were gone!"
Wisp saw Ruu's worried face and could not help but smile, he lifted his hand and caressed Ruu's cheeks.
"I'm sorry I made you worry, I won't do anything reckless again next time"
"You better!"
Ruu hugged Wisp and buried her face on his chest.
"Let's go home"
With that finished, Wisp and the others went back home, before he went to sleep, Wisp thanked Reynolds and the others for trying to protect him, he gave them pats, and before he knew it, there was already a line of dogs forming in front of him, each wants a pat.
'You guys..."
Wisp sighed helplessly but he happily patted each one of them.
As for the supposed to be a holy sword that was pulled out by him from the dragon, Wisp decided to store it hidden for now since it was very dangerous.
In the blink of an eye, it was already Christmas eve, Wisp forced everyone not to sleep yet, even Zafu who was sleeping on top of the tree, one thing that Wisp liked the most was celebrating the New Year, for him, it meant a new life.
Wisp also sculpted the Gods he met, he doesn't know their faces but he somewhat knew their figures, after that, he prayed from morning to night, then now was the present, he also cooked a lot of food for the feast.
Though all of them were either boiled or barbequed, Wisp doesn't have a source of oil yet.
Anyway, there were only a few minutes left before the new year, but Wisp was surprised when he felt the ground shake for a bit.
"An earthquake ?"
He then noticed the dogs seemed to look outside, following them, he saw the dragon he met a few days ago.
"Oh, you are here! Please come join us to celebrate New Year!"
Wisp invited the dragon with a smile.
The Dragon said then the dragon was covered with blinding light, and in the next moment, a naked girl with yellow hair stood at the last location of the dragon.
"Nice to meet you, my name is Tohru, I would like to live here from now on!"
Wisp was surprised at first since the girl in front of him acted differently.
"Ah... W-welcome! come inside but first, wear clothes first!"
Wisp invited her with a smile, but he could not help but gulp as he saw those big bombs that she have.
'Is this the normal size of a dragon?'
Wisp thought.
"Clothes?"
Tohru looked at them and saw the clothes they were wearing, she then waved her hand and her body glowed once again and when it disappeared, Tohru was now wearing the same clothes as Ruu.
"Hmm, that is good, let's go it will be New Year soon! we have lots of food! let's go everyone!"
Wisp immediately said and everyone returned back to the house.
Ruu and the others were a little bit awkward at first but Tohru has a bubbly personality and she got along with everyone very well, though, for some reason, the dragon fainted when she saw Zafu.
Do dragons also hate spiders? no one knows.
But Tohru immediately got used to the presence of Zafu and they became friends.
it didn't take long for the new year to come and everyone celebrated as much as they could, unfortunately, there was no alcohol.
"It seems I have to prepare thoroughly for the next year"
Wisp said with a smile, when everyone went to sleep, unknowingly, Tohru was lured by Ruu into his room, something bad or good happened?
