Chapter 1: The Very Beginning

Mizuki POV

'Tic' I hear the sound of my light switch and my lamp turns on signaling me to wake up. I rub my eyes and slowly get out of bed. I yawn and make my way to the bathroom. 'Ugh just one more day and I can finally go to Japan for my summer exchange program and I can relax and catch up on the chapters of Demon Slayer and Black Clover and Haikyuu. I get to read them and not be bothered!! I also get to sight see!' I think to myself as I head towards the living room to eat breakfast.

"Morning." I say tiredly sitting down at the table eating yogurt. "Morning. Your mom already left for work. I'll take you to school today." I hear my dad say. I finish eating my breakfast and make my way back to my room to get ready for school. As I head to my room, I see my younger brother walk out and yawn. I pat his head as I walk by.

Soon as we are finished in the morning we hop in the car and head over to our high school and middle school. Dad drops Testu off at his middle school first then me. I get out of the car and say "Bye!" My dad waves goodbye and I make my way into school.

At my locker I'm meet with my best friend Sarah. "Hey! Mizuki, morning!" I hear her, I turn around and smile at her. "Morning Sarah!" I close my locker door and zip up my bag. She hops on over to me. "You finished the anime for Demon Slayer right?! Have you started the manga!?" my bestie asks me excitedly.

I jump a bit and nod my head. "Of course! I read up to Mugen Train, to basically caught up to where the anime is at! But I finished that arc!!" I now become said recalling the memory of that chapter. I look over at Sarah and she nods. "I see" she now pats my shoulder. "My friend, that's not only the saddest part of the series. Today they just released the final chapter."

My eyes widen. "What already!! That's so sad though..." I sigh. Sarah shakes grabs my shoulders stopping us from walking to our classes. "My demon slayer friend, that's only the end of Tanjiro's story. But for us fans their story will go on with imagination of what happens after and his descendants!" She exclaims proudly as if she was apart of that adventure.

"Besides don't be sad! You'll be going to Japan for your exchange program! You lucky duck!" Sarah exclaims once more slapping my back.

The day continues on and it's finally lunch. I leave my class and head over to my locker to pick up my lunch and meet with Sarah.

All during lunch we spend the time conversing and reading over new chapters and fangirling. Also while I was crying over the death over a certain red and yellow headed man. "Omg Sarah! I still can't get over it! How could they just cut him off like that! He still had a full life to live and he was such a kind man!!" I cry out. She nods her head and wipes her fake tears. "I feel the same way. But! I tell you, at the end, all will be okay!"

With that lunch and the day ended. Leaving me to go back home.

"Finally home!! Summer and bum here I come!" I yell as I roll on our carpet floor. My mom comes into the living room and laughs. "Hey you won't be just lazying around, you'll have studying and work to do when you're in Japan you hear. As well as getting ready to go on your flight. Now go hurry up and pack your stuff." She tells me. I sigh and reply "Yes, I know. I was just having fun."

That night after dinner, I went to my room and started reading fanfics and manga chapters.

"Omg!!! Noooo!! How could they!! What do you mean they killed them!! What noo!" I yell in my room after finding out that somehow more characters die. "I really shouldn't have read these fanfics! They're so good but spoiled and comments from videos just tell me all the juicy info." I sigh at my stupidity. I soon hear a yell from my brothers room "What are you yelling about!? Keep it down Mizuki!" I hear Tetsu yell.

I stop yelling and lay back down on my bed and stare at my ceiling. "If only, they wouldn't die, it would make this a really happy beyond happy and good story." I say to myself. "Maybe if I could I would help them and prevent some sad and crappy endings of their fate!" I confront myself then contemplating "But then their futures would change. The plot!! But it would help them be happier!" I say once again.

I jump up from my bed and raise my fist. "Osh! I-" I stop my sentence and feel warm tears run down my face. "Huh?" I say. "Did I get to worked up cause of the spoilers?" I quickly wipe them away.

The day soon comes to an end, where I crawl into my bed and drift off into sleep.

My mom comes into my room yanking off the covers waking me up from my warmness under the sheets. "Honey get up! You have to get ready, your flight is in 5 hours. We have to leave soon." I groan and get out of bed to get ready.

With that they drop me off at the airport and I bid goodbye to my family before I leave. "Make sure you keep your wallet and phone on you at all times." I hear my mom say as she hugs me. I hum in return. Next my dad comes to hug me as well. "You be safe over there huh. No funny business and just behave and study." He tells me. "Yes..."

I break away from my parents hug and look over to my little brother. "Oi Testsu, you aren't gonna hug me?" I tease him. He looks at me and puffs his cheeks and stomps his way to me. He hugs me tightly saying "Stupid Mizuki. Don't have too much fun over there and bring me back some anime merch ya hear." I giggle at that comment. "Sure thing."

"Now boarding. Flight from LAX to Tokyo airport. Now Boarding." a female voice says. I sigh and get up from my seat and grab my bag. I walk over to the lady and show her my ticket and board the plane.

I played with my favorite bracelet that my parents gave me as we lifted off the ground. It was a Japanese styled thread bracelet that had some charms on it. Slowly as we were in the air I drifted off to sleep.

I stretch my body after the long 12 hour flight and head outside to catch a taxi. I wave over to get a taxi and hop in. I take out my phone and look for the directions and place where they told me I was supposed to be. I show the man the address and drives me there.

I finally arrive at an olden day building. I get out of the taxi after handing him the money and grab my bags and suitcases.

I look up and take in my surroundings. the building modeled after olden tokyo buildings and has groomed trees on the outside with a large gate that is open. The gate is wooden and has Kanji letters written above it. The kanji is kind of faded so its hard to see. I walk in passing the gate and see a garden with rocks and minimal plants.

I make my way to the front of the house and knock on the door. "Hello? It's Mizuki Amateratsu your exchange student for the summer program." I say in Japanese. No one answers.... I reach for the knob and find that the door is open.

I look around and see that no one is here. I make my way inside the house. "Hello?? I'm sorry for the intrusion, no one answered the door." I say and close the door. I walk inside some more and put down my stuff.

"Hello? Excuse me?" I say once again unsure. I walk around the house looking for someone. I soon find a table with two seats. On the table their are some items and a note. "Did the owner leave a note for me?" I talk to myself. I pick up the note and open it. I writing in japanese but the words are so light that I can't read it.

I spot a necklace that was sliver and had a tinge of blue laying next to the letter. It was a crystal and encased was a spider lily. You could only make it out when you looked at it closer. I picked it up and examined it. I could feel the cold touch of it but somehow it felt a little warm.

I hear floor boards creaking and turn around. "Hello?" No one answers and I look around again feeling a little scared I place down the note and hold the necklace in my hand. I dig through my pockets to find my phone. I dial the house owner and pick up an object for protection. The noise gets louder and I drop my phone.

Just as the phone drops a bright warm flash comes out of the necklace encasing me with it. I squint my eyes and everything goes dark.

A voice calls out "Excuse me! Excuse me! Are you alright?" This voice gets louder and I could feel my body being shaken. I slowly open my eyes. I'm met with a beautiful woman who seems to be in her late 20s but looks a bit sickly. She has black wavy hair who had brown eyes. "Oh thank god you're ok!" she exclaims. I look at her and my eyes widen. "Where am I?" I ask. She looks at me worried. "You're in Hanami Village."

"H-hanami Village?" I say back to her and take notice of her more carefully. And my voice I sound so much younger than what my voice is normally!? I look at the lady see that she's wearing a kimono and has her hair tied up in an old fashion japanese style. My eyes widen more taking in my surroundings. 'This is not America! Where's the high rise buildings! The cars! The lights!' I yell in my head.

The lady speaks up again and this time I notice the language...."Japanese"...She looks at me weirdly. "Yes we're speaking japanese. It seems that you are lost. Do you want to come and stay with me for the time being?" she asks me and coughs. I nod my head "I would appreciate that..." I say.

She stands up and helps me get up to. I feel an unfamiliar cold item that's touching my chest. I look down and see the necklace that I got, the same silver and blue crystal. I also notice I'm not wearing my regular pjs. Instead I'm wearing a kimono as well that constricts my legs together. "My name's Michimiya Tsugikuni. What's your name dear?" The kind lady tells me soon followed by some coughing.

I turn my head to look at her as she leads me to her home. 'I hope she is not leading me to my death here.' I shake my head internally dismissing the thought. I speak up "My name is Mizuki Amateratsu. It's nice to meet you miss Tsugikuni!"

'Tsugikuni??' I ponder. The name rolled off my tongue like it was so familiar. Like I mentioned that name somewhere but where?

Michimiya smiles at me and continues to have a conversation with me. "Mizuki how old are you? You seem to be around 6 or so." I scream in my head '6 years old!!! Is that why everything looks so big and my voicd sounds so young!! Wait am I even in my real body!'

I later reply with "Um I'm 6 I believe. But um. Excuse me Miss Tsugikuni but what is the date today?" I ask her looking at the olden houses. 'I have time to freak out at a later date but not now. Not when I'm out in the dark and creepy streets.'

"Oh you could just call me Michi-san. What a coincidence, you're around the same age as my sons! Oh and its June 15 Sengoku Era." My eyes widen at this and I nod my head. 'Sengoku Era! That's like hundreds of years ago.'

I then continue talking "Um Michi-san. What are you doing so late at night? If you don't mind." She turns to look at me and smile. "Well normally I'm really sick and have one of my sons by my side. I wanted to get out today and go on a walk after dinner and get some peace. But on my walk I heard a big thump and saw light emitting from an area and found you unconscious. i just couldn't leave a little girl out here in the night." she explains.

I thank her "Oh Thank you very much Michi-san! I wouldn't know what to do if I did't meet you." I tell her and she smiles once again at me and stops. "Here we are! My house. My husband should still be up but my sons should already be in bed. Follow me I'll get you a place to sleep and we can discuss more in the morning."
