Chapter IV - Mind Over Power

3rd Person POV:

After training, Spencer, a young padawan under Obi Wan Kenobi, walks down the halls of the Jedi temple and finds himself inside a room he has never seen before, he enters looking for a light source.

"What are you doing in my quarters....?" She asked in a computerized voice, jumping down from the ceiling she was hanging on.

"I didn't mean to intrude into your quarters." He responded in a terrified voice whilst jumping in terror.

"Were you looking for something...? Oh and sorry for scaring you," She replied in a computerized voice, her helmet staring straight at him.

"No...I was simply exploring the temple, and it's fine I'm just really jumpy since the accident." He says while calming down, and steadying his breathing.

"Are you new here?..." She finally asked, confused about everything.

"No I have been here since I was 7, my master is Obi Wan." He replies in an annoyed tone.

"Did Obi-wan bring you in as well? He brought me in with Anakin Skywalker," She replied.

"No not really the clone known as Captain Rex found me in an alley on Naboo he brought me to the Council and Obi-Wan offered to be my master." He replies

"I see you're a Padawan? Have you been on your first mission yet?" She asked.

"Yes I have, I have been to Felucia with Obi-Wan, and the 212th we were looking for the Sith known by the name Count Dooku." He says finding a place to sit.

Her comlink went off, and she pressed buttons to see who it was.

"Arius, have you seen my Padawan? He's taller than you, and his name is Spencer," Obi-wan said over the comm.

"He's right here, why do you need him?" She asked in a computerized voice, almost dropping her comlink.

"We actually need you as well, and if you could go find your master too, we need you all in the mission briefing," Obi-wan replied.

"Master... She's not alive anymore, and yes, I'll bring him to the briefing room," She replied, ending the transmission as she used the force to grab her sabers.

"I wonder what we're needed for." He says as he grabs his sabers, looking back to see if she is following.

She was slower, but it was fine, she beckoned for him to keep going as she kept walking towards the briefing room, following him. They walk in to see jedi masters Plo Koon, Ki Adi Mundi, and Grandmaster Yoda.

"What's all of this about?" He asked moving towards Obi-Wan and Yoda.

"We have a mission for you young Padawan, you will be going with the Sentinel," Plo Koon explained as Arius nodded slowly.

"Mission what mission? Is she okay?" He says while looking in Arius' direction.

"Oh she's fine young one, this is just one of the harder missions, we're having you respond to an attack on Naboo, we have the sector and all the information you need, you will be meeting Senator Amidala there, assess the situation before doing anything," Plo Koon explained.

"Will we be getting clones or are we doing this alone, because I would really love it if clones came along." He said frantically.

"You will be taking the 212th, Commander Cody will assist you," Obi-wan replied.

"Okay I'm ready are you Arius?" He asked her as he was grabbing his things.

"Yeah, I think so," She replied in a computerized voice as she took the holo-gram information and downloaded it into her wrist gauntlet.

They hopped inside Republic gunships with the 212th waiting and ready. The gunships take off and they head to Theed Palace.

"Hey kid, are you ready for this?" Cody asked, smiling at him.

"When am I not ready?" he replied, smiling back.

"Haha, that's the spirit," Cody replied.

"Are you ready Arius?" He said playfully punching her.

"Hm? Oh yeah, I think so," She replied in a computerized voice, shaking her head.

"We're coming up on Theed Palace" Said the pilot of thor gunship.

"YES I'm so excited to go on my first mission without Obi-Wan!" He said while running out of the ship with Cody and a platoon following him.

"Ah, you must be the Jedi?" A person asked.

"Yes, we were sent by the council of an Impending attack," Arius replied in a computerized voice, walking out of the ship slowly.

Cody told his men to secure the Palace.

"Please come in," Senator Amidala said in a calm tone of voice addressing them to the briefing room.

"Awesome I haven't been here since I was found by Captain Rex." He said in a cheerful voice.

"We're getting reports of Droid army attacks on the far south sector of the Planet, usually where the Gungans are located," The Captain reported.

"Did you have any quarrel with them before? Or anything that would cause the droid army to attack?" Arius asked.

"No, but anyone who ever went to scout the area never returned or reported back," Amidala replied.

"Cody you're with me, let's go behind the enemy and attack them from the flanks, get a few platoons and let's head out." he said excitedly.

"Wait wait wait, we should scout the area before we go berserk, we don't even know where they are or if they have any sort of base," Arius replied in a computerized voice, stuttering a bit as she stared at something, struggling to get her head to turn away.

"Ugggghhh, fine Cody stand by." He said annoyed

"Just because Kenobi isn't here doesn't mean you make rash decisions, think first," She replied, pulling up a holo-map of the South Sector.

"It seems to be that the droids are set up in the western part of Theed Palace making it almost impossible to flank them without compromising our location" He said, examining the map.

Arius was just staring at the ground, not moving, but her heart rate slowly climbed, but her breath didn't increase, it was enough to feel though.

"Hey are you okay?" He said while snapping his fingers near her helmet.

"Sir we have the area secured, what are your orders?" Cody asked, while looking at the Palace's entrance.

"Stand by, let us know if there is any activity." He replied

She wasn't moving, just staring, underneath her helmet, she wasn't used to expressing emotion on her face, but if she didn't have it on, she looked afraid.

"Arius you stay here while I take Cody and a few squads to set up blockades and find out where to attack." He said while signaling Cody to gather men, and running out of the Palace.

She shook her head, snapping out of it as her hands looked like they were zapping with lightning.

"Oh, yeah, alright," She replied, a bit confused.

"Sir we have a problem here... Ahhhhhhhhhh!" The Clone said before he got shot.

"What was that?" Cody asked.

"Oh I see the problem." He said while looking at an army of B2 battle droids.

Arius was just standing there awkwardly, but she sensed something was off so she walked outside and saw the army as well.

"Cody c'mon we need to go help them out!" He said while igniting his sabers.

"Sorry, I'm here," Arius replied, just holding her fists up, not her sabers.

"...Okay then," he said utterly confused.

They move outside to help the clones in danger Cody, Spencer, and Arius look in the distance to see at least 1,000 B2 Super Battle droids walking in their direction. A little ways ahead of them they see the clones holding the front line.

Arius couldn't see very well in general so she instantly tripped over a rock and fell over, but she quickly got back up again and continued to walk.

"Let's do this!" He said while running to the front lines taking out a few droids as soon as he got there.

Spencer runs into battle with Cody and Arius behind him. Oblivious to his surroundings he gets surrounded by a bunch of B1 battle droids.

"Uh oh." He said in a subtle voice.

"Move it," Arius said, jumping from about 30 feet in the air, jumping down and picking up a B1 droid and flinging it around, hitting all the other droids as they all made a pile of scrap metal.

"Thanks a lot I guess..." He said with jealousy.

Side by side Arius and Spencer take out a shit ton of droids, looking in Arius direction Spencer sees B2's about to fire. He uses the force to grab one and crush it into a ball then throws it into the rest of them.

"You're welcome" He said in a cocky tone

"We're even..." She growled, punching one in the head as she ripped the head and legs off another and fought with them.

"Okay then I guess we are." He said, feeling a little scared at what she did to that droid.

"Are there more coming or are these the last ones?" She asked in a computerized voice, shoving her hand right through a droid as she electrocuted another with her hand as it blew up.

"Thats all of them!" He said in a joyful tone.

"Well that's abnormal..." She said, throwing the droid legs she was fighting with aside.

The duo high five and Spencer see's Darth Maul in the distance. Spencer runs towards him.

"Wait- where the kriff are you going?" She asked in a computerized voice, still confused from the high five.

"He killed my MOTHER!" He shouted as his eyes flickered between yellow and brown.

"SPENCER STOP!" She yelled in a semi-distorted tone, finally running as she zapped with electricity, sprinting as fast as she could, but she was too late.

"NO, HE MUST PAY!" He shouted with complete yellow eyes.

Jumping in the air to attack Darth Maul, Maul swings his saber cutting off Spencer's right arm,

"SPENCER!" She yelled, finally igniting her blue and yellow saber as she threw it, distracting Maul for a second as she punched him in the face extremely hard.

"AHHHHHHHHHHHHHH!" He yelled as he sees his arm fall off

"Foolish Jedi... Blinded by lies..." Maul growled as he tried to punch her in the face, she jumped over and caught her lightsaber. Spencer gets up and grabs his yellow saber running towards maul shouting.

"THIS IS FOR MOM!" He shouted, running at full speed.

"Foolish padawan." Maul said, cutting off the other arm.

"SPENCER!" Cody yelled signaling his men to cover him as he goes and helps him up.

"GET HIM OUT OF HERE CODY!" She yelled in a distorted voice.

"You want your arms cut off?..." Maul asked, holding his saber up.

"I tried it... It was too boring..." she replied, letting him charge as she just kept dodging his attacks, she aimed her electrifying fist at the center of his back, and she punched him down hard, the ground shaking.

"Run off Zabrak..." she snarled angrily.

Cody tells a gunship to get Spencer on a Cruiser immediately to receive medical treatment.

"Good Luck A...r...i...u...s." he said, passing out.

"Alright, now that we know who's causing this problem, we can actually do something..." She said, using the force to grab her saber out of the sky as she attached them back to her belt.

"For now, set up a perimeter, the droids came from over there, let me know if any activity, I'm going to go check on Spencer..." She commanded as Cody nodded and she jumped on the gunship that was heading to the cruiser.

Finally, on the cruiser Arius sits by Spencer during surgery yelling orders to get him help immediately.

"Waxer! Make sure to get him a medic, one that knows what he's doing, you know Skywalker's arm? Like that one," she specified, having to think because she didn't know what the kriff to do.

"AHHHHHH!" He screams as the medics add cybernetic arms to him.

She heard his screams and immediately she had a hallucination about a memory. She quickly tried to snap out of it, but she couldn't, she was sitting there staring.

After the surgery Spencer runs out of the room looking for Arius and he sees her at the end of the hall looking in a corner.

"Hey are you okay?" He asked worried some.

She didn't respond, she just kept staring.

"I SAID ARE YOU OKAY!" he shouted using the force to shake her.

She still wasn't responding, she didn't expect this one to be so frightening and long as the others.

"Okay that's it." he said as he uses the force to probe her mind so he sees what she sees.

Arius saw the reenactment of her past, she saw her people, the Xelnians trying to kill her, but she saw herself murdering them, the screams weren't escapable at all, she just watched as she murdered her kind in cold blood.

"Oh my." He said undoing the force mind probe and running to her room to find out if there was a way to stop the visions.

She jumped out of her chair, pressing herself against the wall as if she was trying to get away from something, she just collapsed on the ground, zapping with lightning and shaking violently.

Running to Obi-Wan's direction Spencer tells him that Arius is having a panic attack. After he explains to Obi-Wan what happened, Obi-Wan gets the others to try and find out how they can help.

"Look see I told you." He said pointing at Arius.

"Oh dear- what happened to her?" He asked, moving away from her zapping and shaking body.

"I don't think that's a panic attack Spencer..." He said, getting shocked a bit as she jolted awake, jumping off the ground and hitting her head on the ceiling pretty hard as she tried to regain her balance.

"Did I fall asleep?..." She asked, looking at their worried faces with her helmet.

"You had a panic attack." He said, examining his new arms.

"I did?..." She asked, confused as she ran into something again, she was completely disoriented, but she shook her head out, regaining her consciousness.

"Yeah I saw what you saw and I'm sorry for what you had to do but it had to be done." He calmly said

She was so confused, she didn't know what the heck he was talking about or how he knew.

"How-? You probed my mind? What else did you see?!" She shouted in a distorted voice.

"Yes i did, and i don't regret it, but like i said you had to do it, it was for your own survival." He said in a calm yet assertive manner.

"Why would you probe my mind... I was just having a Schizophrenic episode... It would've gone away.... And please don't ever mention that again..." She growled, walking past them towards her quarters.

"Look it was needed I HAD TO!" uses the force to pull her back to him.

She was shocked, she was pulled back and she stiffened when she was right in front of his face.

"LOOK, I'm sorry." he said sadly.

"It's fine, just don't mention anything about that ever again..." She replied, breaking free as she walked away.

"Wait!" he shouted.

"What...?" She asked, still walking.

"You dropped this," he said as he threw her a droid head.

"Uh- thanks," She replied, dropping it then using the force to pick it back up as she walked into her quarters and shut the door.

"You're welcome," he said as he walked into his quarters

She sat down, taking her helmet off as the air hissed, she hung her head in her knees, she sighed heavily as she sat up straight.

He looked at his wall, mediating and mastering the force, becoming the strongest Jedi like he dreamed of.
