I : Extra Cream Lattes

'A love story, is that always full of happiness? An ending, is that always happy? Life, an illusion,' she thought.

"But if you want you can make life your own fairytale," he said.

Confused and irritated she replied, "Mind reader?" her eyebrows furrowed.

"That's the next dialogue of the play and well, mind reader would be a nice career choice. What do you think?" he chuckled.

Suddenly, she felt a little guilty for her behaviour. They were standing in the auditorium of their university, Oxford. A play was going on written by a student. It was the first day after the mid-term break of the first semester.

"Sky, Sky Rudolph Richards," he lent his hand forward for a handshake.

"Sky? You're weird," she smiled and shook her hand.

"Yeah, I know actually my mom wanted a unique name for me. Well, there you go Sky." he brushed his hand on his oh so silky brunette hair.

She just watched him do that and thought how that hair would smell. 'Are you mad? You don't even know him properly!' her inner thoughts popped up.

"And what about Rudolph, that is the name of a fictional character right?" she said.

"Yeah, so Rudolph," he chuckled hard this time.

This sort of made her blush from inside. 'What's wrong with me?' she thought.

He continued, "As you know Rudolph is the name of the last reindeer of Santa, and I'm the last grandchild my great-grandma could see. She passed away you know. And Richards is my family name but I like to be known by Sky Rudolph R. Kinda like my own identity. By the way you didn't tell me yours."

"Oh, I'm June Gold," she replied.

"Well, your name is uncommon too. So June, what do you like?"

"As in what?"

"As in well," he paused for a while, "Coffee or tea?" he finally asked.

"Bit too early. Don't you think?"

June has always been single and this asking for a date was new to her. She wanted to go but had second thoughts.

"Wait, you're different," he answered shocked.

"Well, duhh I'm a Gold girl, I need to be different, get it?" they both smiled.

"Precious," he whispered in his heart. He noticed the grey highlights in her dark brown hair. 'Grey doesn't suit everybody but her ivory skin looks so good with it,' he thought.

"Did you say something?" she asked.

"Umm ... so I don't have any classes left so a non-date coffee?"

"You're paying."

"Okay," and he did the same hair brushing and then for the first time June sees his eye color. It's so beautiful she thinks. Aqua blue.

They walk to the coffee shop and order two extra cream lattes.

"So where are you from?" June asks.

"Well I'm from Chicago. Family lives there. I just wanted a break, that's why I came here. I like England but America's more fun and lively."

"So you're the new student. By the way I think so too. I'm from Los Angeles." She looks at his jawline highlighted by the sunray coming inside the coffee shop. 'His jaw game is strong, a Greek god,' she thought.

They finish their coffee and their little chit chat.

"You want me to drop you?" he smirks.

"Coffee was good, the address isn't open," she gives him a look.

"You're different," he says that again, "By the way your grey highlights really compliment your face."

June gives him a beautiful smile and goes out of the coffee shop.
