Partnering with Yang

"Okay, are you going to talk to me any time soon?" Ivy asks Jackson as they listen to Owen.

"Yeah, sure," He says.

Owen stands in by the door of the residents lounge, "Fifth year is the hardest year of your residency. Every surgery you do will go on your record, the wins and the losses. In just a few months..."

Meredith walks in in pink scrubs and sits next to Cristina. Ivy looks down at her from her spot next to Jackson, "Neuros out and O.B.s in?"

"Oh, how the mighty have fallen, huh?" Jackson chuckles.

"She misses Zola. Her uterus hurts," Alex adds

"Oh, leave her alone, dirt bag," Cristina aids Meredith.

Ivy nudges him in his side, "Plus, I miss Zola too."

Owen has continued, "It is extremely important that you rack up as many good outcomes for your boards. I am implementing a system. I will receive an e-mail if any of you exceed more than ten bad outcomes in your O.R. Ten- any more is unacceptable. Welcome, Dr. Kepner," Owen greets as she ran in late.

"Sorry. I got stuck in the lab with Bailey," she excuses.

"I don't care where you were. I care that you already have, lets see... uh, two bad outcomes in your O.R.," everyone besides Ivy ooh.

Alex calls out, "Loser."

Owen then calls Alex out, "Of course that's nothing compared to Karevs impressive five bad outcomes."

Ivy giggles as Alex tries to explain himself, "I keep getting dud patients."

"Tell it to your board examiners. The point, people, is to keep your bad outcomes to a minimum, or you will be hard pressed to find a fellowship next year," Owen explains.

He then receives a text, "Uh, Dr. Yang, are you sure that you're getting all this down?"

Cristina smiles, "Mmhmm, bad outcomes are bad, which is why I have zero so far, a perfect record I plan to continue during my ortho rotation this week. No one dies during a hip replacement."

Ivy scoffs, "Okay, for one, I also have zero bad outcomes. And two, people die if you don't know what to do. You have spent basically your whole career on cardio so who knows how fresh that ortho knowledge is."

"Oh, please. I've got this," Cristina waves her off.

"Lets hope," Owen says.

Jackson leans towards Ivy, "You're on ortho this week, aren't you?"

She nods, "Yup. And from what I've seen this morning, Callie isn't super excited and cheerful today."

Ivy walks out of the elevator with Cristina and Callie, "I should be grateful that they're getting along, right? But I'm not, thought. I'm bitter. All they do is cook together. Oh, Ivy, maybe you could bring your new boyfriend over for dinner?"

She looks up from texting Jonathan, "Um, not yet. Him and Mark can not meet again until Derek and him meet again."

"Meet again?" Cristina asks, not looking up from her phone.

"Remember my losing my v-card story? Yeah, that was Jonathan," Cristina bursts out laughing.

"That is awesome. Oh, I better be there when he and Derek meet again. Oh, I want to record it," Callie takes Crsitinas phone.

She starts reading the text, "I'll bend you over the conference room table and- oh! Okay, why did you let me read that?"

Ivy laughs as Cristina holds her head high, "My husband can't get enough of me. Jealous?"

"Yes, actually. Arizona and I haven't had much alone time lately, and so instead, we eat," she rants.

"Oh , that's depressing. What about you, McBaby? Virginity stealer any better?" Cristina and Callie turn to Ivy.

Ivy giggles, "Oh, yeah."

"Okay, let's just talk about the case," Callie changes the subject.

"What is it? Hip replacement. Shoulder dislocation?" Cristina asks, rubbing her hands together.

Ivy laughs, "This is obviously your first time with Callie. She doesn't do routine. This is why I tried to warn you this morning."

"My feet hurt!" The patients dad complains.

They enter the patient room, "Mr. and Mrs. Moser? Hi."

His wife greets them, "Hi, sorry. My, uh, lazy sack of a husband thinks that this is his bed."

Cristina stutters, "Oh, its-its not?"

Ivy shakes her head, "No, this is our patients parents. Hi, nice to see you both."

"This is Dr. Yang, she will be Dr. Shepherds cosurgeon on the case, but don't worry, I will be right there in the O.R. if they need me," Callie introduces.

"Oh, so nice to meet you. Get up! Come on. Pretend you have manners for a second," she hits her husband's arm.

"What, the kind of manners that allow you to insult your husband in front of strangers?" He asks.

Their patient comes in, "Stop it. Stop fighting. You're scaring the doctors. Hi. Tyler. Im, uh, I'm not staring at your boobs. I mean, I-I am, but I-I can't help it. Hello, again, Dr. Shepherd."

Ivy smiles, "Hello Tyler. Tyler suffers from a degenerative bone disease called Cervical Spondylosis. He was in a car accident two years ago, which further injuried his neck, and we are gonna build him a new one. In a three day, three part surgery."

Cristina looks at Ivy like she's insane. Ivy just smirks at her, this is why she loves ortho.

Ivy walks into a conference room to see Owen, Mark, and Derek sitting around a table. She stands at the top of the table, practically bouncing in excitement, waiting for them to notice her.

Finally, Derek does, "Yes, Ivy?"

"Three day, three part surgery to rebuild a man's neck," she says.

"Whoa. Who is your cosurgeon? Callie?" Mark asks.

Ivy shakes her head, "Nope, Cristina."

Owen looks up, "Cristina? Torres is letting you two take the lead on a three part surgery?"

"We both have zero bad outcomes and I'm an ortho goddess with specialitization in trauma. God, this is going to look great for my boards," Ivy starts pacing back and forth in excitement.
