Dealing with Surviving

*Flashback- Ivys been home from hospital a day*

Ivy stands next to Jackson as he changes for work, pagers going off.

"Sounds big. I'm betting M.V.C." Jackson tells them.

Alex and Lexie are throughly ignoring each other, "Multiple M.V.C or an apartment fire."

April whispers to Jackson and Ivy, "When is the staring gonna stop?"

"As soon as the novelty wears off. Just ignore them," he directs the last part towards Ivy, who hasn't said a word since entering the locker room.

Ivy shrugs, getting up and heading to Owen as she is on his service today. She feels stares on her back and quickly turns around.

"Yes! I was shot, focus on something else!" She yells, quickly turning around and stomping to trauma.

As she is on here way down, she sees Derek, "Hey Der- oh you smell-"

"Like pee, I know. Meredith left me in jail last night. I would have called you but you didn't answer," Derek says as they walk towards the elevator.

"I was at Cristina and Owens wedding. Plus, it was good for you. Crime and punishment is something that you taught me when I was 19," Ivy chastises him.

Derek glares at her, "Don't patronize me. Get to work."

"Whatever you say Big Brother, love you!" She shouts over her shoulder, heading to the pit.

"Love you too!" Because no matter how mad he is, he will always love his baby sister.

She, Jackson, Cristina are on a case with Hunt and Altman. Ivy presents the case, "Linda Cotler, age 51, has been here three times in the last eight years for removal of malignant myxomas from her heart."

"But we won't be doing that again," the patient says.

Altman smiles at her, "No, by removing both atria, and hopefully all the cancerous cells, you won't have to keep coming back here."

The patient looks at Cristina, "Hello, Dr. Yang. Nice to see a familiar face."

"Finally, someone we know," her husband says.

"Mrs. Cotler was a patient of Dr. Burke's. You assisted on her last myxoma removal," Altman reminds.

"Of course. Of course. Hi," Cristina remembers.

Mrs. Cotler asks her, "You were getting married, weren't you?"

Ivy and Jackson share a confused look, how did she know?

"Sorry?"

"Well, got married. I mean, last night, actually," Altman looks at Cristina and Owen.

Her husband leans forward, "You and Dr. Burke?"

Altman asks, "Sorry?"

Ivy leans against Jackson, trying not to laugh at the awkward conversation.

"Last time we were here, he said you two were getting married," Mrs. Cotler reveals.

"Oh, yes. No. That-that didn't happen," Cristina told them.

Mrs. Cotler looks surprised, "Oh, what a shame. He went on and on about you."

Her husband clarifys, "But you did get married?"

Owen nods, walking back towards Cristina, "We did, last night. We did."

Ivy turns her head into Jacksons shoulder at the look on everyone's face, "Oh. Well, nice to see you again."

"Well, um, relax for now and we will be back with some forms for you to sign. And then you to surgery," Ivy broke the awkward silence, turning to the Cotlers.

"Thank, Dr. Shepherd, and congratulations to you two,"  Mrs. Cotler tells Owen and Cristina.

Ivy is the first one out the door, silently laughing. Cristina walks next to her and nudges her, "Quit laughing."

"Nah, this is entertainment that you can't buy,"

"So, Ivy, you're here because..." Dr. Wyatt starts.

"I can't deal. I can't grieve. I need to talk to someone who wasn't involved in the sh- that event. Derek is great but he's dealing with his own things and Jackson is great but I don't want to be a burden," Iby summarizes.

"Why do you feel like a burden? Surely, talking isn't being a burden," Wyatt says.

Ivy, sighs, "Everyone worries to much. I mean, I'm fine, physically. I can do surgery, I can handle all of this but I need to talk to someone because I struggle."

Wyatt observes her, "You are one of the most self aware people I have ever met. Now, I suggest-"

Ivys pager goes off, "I am so sorry, it's Hunt. Um,"

"Its okay, I'm used to it. I'm free whenever you need to talk, but for now I suggest keeping a journal of some sort," Wyatt closes her notebook.

"Thank you, Dr. Wyatt. Um, I will see you next week at the latest," she quickly walks to find Hunt.

Moving to stand next to Cristina, she listens at Altman explains the procedure, "I'll resect both atria and build new ones out of bovine pericardium. And during reconstruction, Dr. Hunt will stay with Linda, using a human donor aorta to prepare the vessels for reimplantation."
