AMENDMENT

Weeks passed by in the mansion of the Ezes, in the federal capital territory of the giant of Africa.

The period could be told to be the loneliest, as everyone tamed to himself and refused conjugal merriment.

Dike had fought to make Tabitha understand but rather, she took things too extreme and accused him for lusting after her.

A day came that a faithful evening, Dike was sitting on the third floor observing moving vehicles.

Tabitha just returned from church that evening. The message taught that day centered on making peace with everyone and handling misunderstandings with maturity.

As a result, her heart was touched and she wanted making up things with Dike. Truly to say, she had missed him and the intimacy they shared before the eruption of their misunderstanding.

Of late, she wished to approach him and ask for forgiveness, to see if there would be a reunion of friendship, such as they were before, but she felt disurged about it at the same time, not knowing how he was going to take steps about it. At the same time, her heart wasn't settled. She feared that getting close to Dike may result to something immoral, which would destroy the trust Mrs Eze Ngozi and her husband had on her.

Dike arrived from office that evening and headed for his room while Tabitha was in the kitchen with Patricia making dinner.

He went to his room, undressed and left for the third floor, where he could comfortably sit and take a view of the city.

When Tabitha was done cooking, she made a coffee for him and went to see him.

She pulled a chair and sat on it, put what she brought on the table and beheld the city's overview.

"How was office today?" She asked looking at Dike.

"It was fine. Good evening." Dike answered, turning his face to her.

Then he grasp the cup and began taking some sips from it.

"For the past three weeks, I have not really being myself. I have really felt bad for hurting you. I am really ..."

"No! I am the one who should be saying sorry. I came here for that purpose. I have not been myself too. It was clear that a friend was gone from me. I do cry each night. I am sorry Dike. I misunderstood you. Please forgive me. I am just afraid, let's my past should repeat itself." She said with passion.

"I understand. I am not judging you Tabitha. I understand that you are trying not to destroy the new life you have found. You don't want to appear to have abused the trust my parents have on you. I understand all that, but..." He stopped.

"But what Paul? I am listening. I want to hear what you want to say." Tabitha came in.

"Tabitha, I want to marry you. I can't hide it from you. I will be hurting myself more and more. Each day, watching us going out and coming in, I wish this could be husband and wife." He explained with passion.

"Paul, I wish you know who I am already. I am not like any other lady out there that suit your standard. I have Joy, I'm a single mom. Mom and dad can't allow that happen. They've taken me in as one of their daughters. To them, we are siblings. I don't know how to betray that trust Paul. I do..." She stopped and turned her face away.

"You love me too right? I know that's what you want to say Tabitha. I know you do." He said.

"And you know I do Paul. But we have a situation at hand that can't agree for us to be what you are asking for." She said bitterly and became fizzled.

Her memories took her back to the day she and Tony met that resulted to pregnancy. She wished she could curse that day, but remembered Joy and the encounter with the Lord.

"Tabitha, Tabitha," Dike tried to resuscitate her.

"Are you okay?" He asked, fearing.

"Tabitha, if you think this isn't wrong in the sight of God, then I assure you that it is possible. My parents can't be a barrier. What if it turns out that they will even be more happy that we have marital interest for each other?" He asked, taking hold of her hands.

"Tabitha," He Continued.

"Can I make a request?"

"Yes!" She answered

"Please promise me that you will sincerely pray about this and ask the Lord with a sincere mind for his direction. I will also do the same thing. Let the Lord's will be established in our hearts, then we will know." He requested.

"I promise to do so." She answered.

Just then, Joy ran to inform her that her phone was ringing.

When she went for it, it was Mrs Eze Ngozi calling to inform her that they would be returning back to Nigeria the next weekend.

She was excited and jumped around informing everyone of the development. Paul was already aware because Mrs Eze Ngozi had already informed him, while he was still at the office.

The both parents agreed that upon their return, one of their first mission would be to make an adoption proceedings, to have Tabitha as their daughter.
