Chapter 4

Cameron's POV ~

I watched as she turned and ran, I've been here for an hour and still haven't picked anything up. She smelled like sweet rain and honey. I quickly grab what I need to and pay for it before practically sprinting home.

"Dad guess what!" I yelled into the house, I quickly set the bags down in the kitchen and ran around before finally finding him in his study waiting for me.

"Yes?" He raised a brow, amusement on his face at my giddy state.

"I found her." And thats all it took before his expression matched my own, he called mom to tell her the news before promptly asking to meet her.

"I don't know dad, she's definitely human. She has this big bruise on her face, ones on her neck too. I don't know why. We didn't even say anything we just looked at each other. She's so beautiful." My rant was cut short, my father asked "so you don't know her name? Where she lives?" And suddenly, the happiness was gone. No, I didn't.

"I'm sure I will see her at school tomorrow though. She looked my age." My dad agreed before telling me to get ready for dinner with a new colleague of his. I nodded and left to my room to get ready. My dad owns a trades building, he mostly does international trades but it's all office work. He makes it a point to get to know all of his employees, and he drags me along with him.

Once we were dressed and ready we left, Kathrine was still gone so she got to skip out on this one. We drove there, most of this town is human, it's what keeps our little pack safe. No one would start a war with us in fear of the humans finding out, we are a very peaceful pack, we don't like conflict. We have an alpha, but our pack is run more with the council, my dad is on it. He knows more humans here than anyone, so he's in charge of human affairs.

Once we pull up, I can smell it. She's here. I smile to myself before telling my dad she lives here. I can't wait to have dinner, I can look at her all I want.

My dad knocks, a few minutes later she opens the door, she's even more breathtaking this time, she has a look of fear on her face until our eyes connect. She blushes again before ushering us in, she points over towards the dinner table before she holds up her finger. She rushes off to the basement, and her father and brother come from upstairs. Why did she run off like that?

"Hello, you must me Mr. Walsh I presume?" He looks at us a bit surprised, probably wondering how we're already in his house when he didn't let us in. "Did Kaylie let you in?" Kaylie. Beautiful name for a beautiful mate. The hint of anger in his voice didn't go unnoticed.

"Is that her name? She did let us in yes, she must be doing something before she joins us?" My father replies.

He gives us a tight smile before informing us that she will not be joining us for dinner. The brother introduces himself as Nathan, he looks just like Mark. Kaylie doesn't look like them, I guess she got her looks from her mother.

"Excuse me sir is there a restroom I may use?" Mark points me in the direction, one goes upstairs and one downstairs, I choose downstairs because that's where I saw Kaylie go. I walk down the stairs and see an open space with laundry machines and such, and two doors. I assume one in the bathroom and one is Kaylie's room, now, to make the right choice.

I go right and gently open the door to find Kaylie asleep on a small mattress, this must be the smallest, sorry excuse for a room I've ever seen. She has a shelf with few clothes and a necklace on it. I bend down close to her face, gently brushing the hair away from her sleeping face. Her bruise is worse, turning a dark yellow purple.

Suddenly she opens her eyes and fear and confusion takes over while she pushes herself down into her mattress. She stares at me wide eyed, I put my finger to my lips to show her to be quiet. She looks at me confused before I gently brush her hair from her face, gliding my fingers across her soft skin. She closes her eyes and smiles lightly.

I hear my name called by Mark, at his voice I see her shiver and fear replaces the peace that was there. I know she can feel the pull, she's human but she's still my mate. The moon Goddess made her for me, and I for her. She quickly stands, wincing, she pushes me out the door and with one last look, she gently closes the door.

Walking back up the stairs I apologize for taking so long, Mark looks at me suspiciously before going back to the topic from before. Nathan is glaring and Mark looks awfully suspicious. Imposter.
