Chapter 3

"Do I have to go? Kathrine always goes make her do it, I don't even know where the things would be." I've been sitting here begging my father to not make me go to the market. My younger sister Kathrine always does it, she's 16 and took on the role of our mother since mom's been in the hospital.

"Kathrine has a study group, you can go." He gave me a stern look and I silently walked away, pulling on shoes and grabbing some cash, I took off for the local market. The sky was a pretty blue, the clouds looked as though they were painted to perfection. I love Iowa. Yet I wanted to move from here, nothing against Iowa, just this town. So judgmental and unforgiving.

I got to the market and watched a girl I've never seen before walk in, interesting. She grabs a basket and wanders around, she's definitely new. I chuckle a bit as she jumps as high as she can to reach a package of buns on the top shelf. She's short, probably 5'1" with coiled blonde hair that reached her slim waist. She got the buns and continued on to the cold section, I decided I should stop stalking and go introduce myself. She looks my age, she could need a friend to show her the ropes at school.

I was about to tap her shoulder when she whips around and runs smack into me, I smile a little watching her rub her nose. She looks up at me with a cute angry face before her face turns red. Little tomato. My smile turns to a look of anger, she has a huge bruise under her left eye. I feel protective of her, I barely know her and I'm ready to pummel the dip who did this to her.

I raise my fingers to her face only for her to flinch away from me, why would she do that? Maybe it's because I'm a stranger. When she finally peels her beautiful brown eyes open, I lightly trace her bruise on her cheek. I already knew, but now I'm sure. She's my mate.

A/N Sorryyyyyy I know it's a very short chapter but I wanted to leave you with a little cliff hanger. I decided literally right now to make this book about werewolves. Haha...ahhhh.
