Making Headlines

I looked at Sarah, she gave me an assuring looking. Everyone was here including Liam, who worried about the situation going out of hand. Alex went to face the press who were waiting patiently. And I am pretty sure, no one will expect this news.

"Good morning everyone, Thank you for joining us all today. I know all of you are curious to know why we gathered you all today. To break the news I will invite our CEO Mr. Ben Cliffords,"

I looked again at her. Her eyes had a confused look. After letting my mother be with her I entered the podium. Every journalist looked ready to jump on the news.

"Good Morning everyone. From your looks, I can guess you are all eagerly waiting to hear some business news..."

"Mr.Cliffords, is this news related to the rumors?" asked one of the reporters.

"Isn't she your Design Lead?"

"Is it true the news that you have a relationship with her?"

This was going out of hand with questions going here and there. Soon Alex came in,

"Everyone, please calm down and first listen to Mr.Clifford," he said and stood beside me.

Before I start I looked at everyone.

"Ok everyone, I know about the rumors that are circulated. But I guess I never told anyone who my wife is even though I said I was married."

I looked at Sarah and Meg came near us with her. I held Sarah close and looked at the press.

"Everyone, please meet Sarah Clifford, my wife for the past seven years. She had been by my side thick and strong even though she had to undergo some serious situation a few years ago. We met on the first day of our university, and I think Alex will have to tell you something too,"

"Thank you, Ben. Well everyone, meet my wife, Meg. Actually, Dr.Meg is the best friend of Ben's wife. Yes, we two best friends married these two best friends. And I guess fate played a wonderful part in our lives, by joining us all together. Ben,"

I looked at everyone. At last, I got them to ask questions as they were double-shocked by the double reveal. I know except for a few in the office others never knew that Sarah was my wife apart from being a Design head. There will be many situations coming up with this breaking of the news.

"Sir, are you telling the truth?"

"How can you prove this is true, but she's not someone you are using to hide something?"

"Did you really get married? "

"How did you hide this so well?"

"Didn't anyone else in the office know about this?"

"I will take the stage, Ben," said my father.

"I guess this is too much news you might use to show on prime-time news. As a family, we are so happy to have two beautiful daughters in our families. They mean the world to us. But regarding their privacy, I wish you all won't trouble their personal lives. Especially Sarah.

With that going on in the background, I left the hall with Sarah, Alex, and Meg as discreetly as possible to my office room.

"Mr.Clifford, but why did you realize such information now?"

"We thought this is the right time, so you guys won't be confused and wrongfully accused my daughter," I heard my father say, while we watched the live broadcast.

"What was the issue that Mr.Ben referring to?"

"Is Sarah's situation life-threatening?"

"Is that why you kept this a secret?"

"Well my dear media friends, the accident that happened three years ago was not so life-threatening, but her health is harmed in a way that might or might not heal. If I am being frank the doctors have asked to keep her calm away from crowded people, which will make her feel uneasy. So I hope everyone can help us and not bother her if you see her in public,"

"What happened to her?"

"Hmm.. we are still investigating the situation and trying to find out what happened that day. But I am sorry I cannot disclose any information about it as this is a family matter, which we hope to keep it that way,"

"Sir, can you tell us more about your daughter-in-law?"

"She is the pride of our family. A talented architect and a very quiet and calm person. That's why you don't see either Ben or Sarah at some night functions he is invited to. They value their time together and the time spent with their close family."

After a few more questions the meeting was adjourned. The news networks and the web had exploded with this and they have been so quick to find out old photos of us as well. Many of Alex and my friends called after hearing this and many even scolded us for not sharing such important news.

But later I explain to them the situation and the reason why we did it. It's purely for the safety of our girls and especially due to Sarah's health. That is when I noticed Sarah had been too quiet all this time.

"Hi, are you alright?"

"Hmm.."

"Don't lie to me. Does your head hurt?"

"Yes, a little bit,"

I looked at Alex and Meg,

"Sarah, you lie down on the sofa and rest for a while," said Meg asking Alex to get some hot drinks to the room.

After a while, we got some hot chocolate and some snacks. After that I let her sleep a while near me.
