Chapter 88: Teaming up (2)

[Kaede POV]

"Sky Team, have you seen anything?" Selkie's voice sounded through the earpiece.

Ryukyu: "I'm not seeing anything."

Nejire-chan: "There's nothing here..."

"I'm not finding anything also," I replied while gliding in the air with my Susanoo.

"Keep searching; they won't be far," Selkie replied.

The evening came, and we split into three teams, the Sky Team consisted of Nejire, Ryuku and me while the Water Team consisted of Selkie and Tsuyu. Lastly, the Ground Team consisted of everyone else.

As the name suggests, the Sky Team will patrol the sky. The water Team will patrol underwater while Ground Team will use Selkie's boat, the Oki Mariner.

We hadn't found anything for the first hour, but we knew we were closing in on the smugglers. Sure enough, I finally spotted a strange ship sailing away from the Islands, carrying tons of crates, which I assume was where the Trigger Drug was stored.

"I found it!" I exclaimed before reporting everyone the coordinates.

"Good job. Be careful we can't have the risk of the drug spilling into the ocean," Selki explained.

I was ordered to continue to follow the ship while the rest of the squad gather at my location.

[3rd POV]

The atmosphere on the smuggling ship was grim. Heroes had recently discovered their trafficking operation, so they needed to leave the area before it was too late.

"What's that!" One of the smugglers exclaimed and he pointed at the sky where they could see a distant figure.

The smugglers pulled out a pair of binoculars to see more clearly. It was a giant purple humanoid wearing samurai ornamental armour, a tengu mask and a pair of giant wings on its back.

The titan stared at the villains with bright yellow eyes, and they felt a shiver down their spines. Immediately, one of the smugglers took a syringe loaded with the Trigger Drug before injecting himself in the neck.

His eyes turned bloodshot as the smuggler's quirk activated and covered the entire area with smoke.

Kaede frowned when the smugglers hid among the large fog. She hovered above the smoke, and with a single flap of her wings, the smoke cloud blew away and the villains were revealed. Kaede grinned when she saw the dumbfounded expression on their faces.

BOOOM

The Susanoo landed in the ocean and the boat rocked against the chaotic wave. The villains shrieked with fear and their morale plummeted. Their legs gave out and fell on their butt and the smugglers resisted the urge to soil themselves. The villains surrendered without a moment's notice because they were smart enough to know not to mess with the girl in front of them.

Selkie and Asui soon arrived and boarded the ship: "Good job, Maple!" Selkie happily shouted and gave Kaede a thumbs up.

The rest of the heroes also appeared on the scene, and they smoothly captured all the villains.

[Kaede POV]

I felt it was a little anti-climatic while I watched the villains getting arrested. I should credit the smugglers that they were smart enough to not mess with me, and nobody got hurt so I won't whine about it.

When Sirius opened one of the crates, she gasped with shock, and we gathered around her. We watched with disbelief and realised that all of the crates were empty. Ryukyu immediately interrogated one of the villains and revealed that they were serving as a distraction while the smugglers' boss escaped with the Trigger Drugs via a water plane!

Selkie and Ryukyu cursed and commanded us to find the plane as soon as possible. As if right on cue, we all heard the sound of an engine roaring above us. I glanced at the sky and spotted the plane flying further and further away.

Ryukyu and Nejire reacted immediately as they chased after the plane. Unfortunately, the aeroplane seemed to be way faster than them and their distance lengthen. I gritted my teeth and glimpsed at Ochako and Asui.

They were annoyed that they couldn't do anything but an idea appeared in my head!

[3rd POV]

"H..Hey Kaede-chan, this is safe right?" Ochako asked nervously.

"You will be fine! If you fall I will catch you!" Kaede merrily responded.

"I'm scared..." Asui muttered.

The two young heroes were currently weightless as they grasped tightly onto Kaede's gigantic spear. She aimed the spear at the distant plane and leaned back. With a huff, she hurled the weapon with all her strength and her friends screamed in fear.

The wind blew against their face and they could barely open their eyes. They closed the distance at a tremendous speed. Ochako and Asui saw a large shadow overcasting over them and before they even realise it, they were already at the bottom of the plane.

"Hang in there!" Ochako yelled when Asui hugged her tightly.

Ochako aimed her wrist at the wing of the plane and fired a small grappling hook attached to a metal rope. The hook wrapped around the wing and the two were pulled onto the vehicle...

Inside the plane, the smuggler boss was laughing with glee. He has successfully fooled the heroes with the distraction, and now he can safely take the Trigger Drug out of Japan.

*THUD*

The villain's laughter stopped when he heard a weird noise at the back of the plane: "It must be turbulence..." he said and feigned ignorance. After all, the heroes were wasting time hunting his subordinates, so what's there to worry about?

He leaned back on his chair, imagining what he would do with the money when this job finished. Suddenly, the plane's back door was yanked open as Ochako and Tsuyu entered the plane.

"Wha....?"

Before the boss villain could finish his sentence. Tsuyu's tongue wrapped around the smuggler's neck and dragged him to her. Ochako then punched the villain's face, knocking him out.

"We did it!" Tsuyu and Ochako cheered. They informed Kaede and the other heroes of their victorious deeds. But Kaede's question snapped them out of their thoughts.

"Um, how do we land the plane?" Kaede said through the radio.

Tsuyu and Ochako froze as they glanced at each other. Their face paled, and they rushed to the cockpit. The aeroplane was losing altitude by the second. Ochako sat on the pilot seat and Selkie desperately tried to guide her on how to land a plane.

Together, Tsuyu and Ochako grabbed the steering lever as they controlled the plane to move down. However, the aircraft's integrity was worse than expected and the lever snapped in half as the plane turned a ninety degrees angle and divebombed towards the ocean.

The young heroes screamed and were tossed around by the sudden force as if the vehicle was a hardcore theme park ride. Tsuyu winced as she smashed onto the control panel and somehow increased the thruster's power.

"Ochako-chan, Asui-chan, get out of there!" Kaede yelled as the plane's velocity grew, and even she had trouble catching up.

Things were getting worse and worse when one of the motors exploded.

"Uravity makes the plane weightless now!" Ryukyu ordered with a solemn tone.

Ochako complied as she didn't have a better idea. She placed her hand on the aircraft floor and concentrated as she gritted her teeth. Sweat dripped down Ochako's forehead, and with the cheering of her friends, the aeroplane began to slow down.

Kaede took this opportunity and grabbed the front of the plane. With the immense strength of the Susanoo, Kaede gently brought the plane onto the sea, and she sighed in relief. Kaede exited her Susanoo and ripped open the plane door.

"Asui-chan, Ochako-chan, are you guy al....." two figures barged past her as Tyusu and Ochako rushed out of the plane.

Their face was green and they vomited while making some unholy sounds. Kaede cringed and patted their backs and they waited for the rest of their team to arrive at their location. Looking back at the containers filled with Trigger Drugs, Kaede finally relaxed, knowing that the mission was successful.

What's even better was that none of them was hurt well... She glanced at Ochako and Tsuyu, who was still spewing out the seafood feast she had made at lunch.....
