Chapter 70: Inseparable Bond (2)
Eri froze: "What?"
"if yoU sTop rUNnInG AWAy i Won'T kIlL HER," Kai threatened.
Eri glanced at Kaede anxiously: "Will you really not hurt Onee-chan anymore...."
Kai grinned and nodded. Eri nervously stood up and approached the villain. However, Kaede suddenly grasped Eri's ankle and she stared at the child with a pleading expression: "Please..... don't go....." She begged.
Watching Kaede's pleading, Eri's heart churned and she don't know what to do. Subconsciously, a vivid memory began to replay in her mind.
[Flash Back Start]
Inside the hopsital...
"Kaede-chan, why do you become a hero?" Eri suddenly asked as they sat beside each other.
"That's a good question," Kaede said and placed a finger on her cheek: "Well it's because I really enjoy helping others and making the world a better place?"
Eri nodded with admiration before staring at her sole with a downcast expression: "Heroes sounds really cool... It would be nice if I could become one..."
"Of course, you can!" Kaede chirped and patted Eri's back however the child shook her head in response.
"In the past, my quirk is bad and hurt the people I care about so it's already too late for me..." Eri replied.
Hearing this Kaede's eyes softened and gently pulled Eri into her embrace: "What happened was never your fault Eri," She whispered into her ears: "Besides, a quirk doesn't define who we are, even if we have a quirk that seemed bad, that doesn't stop you from being a hero."
"R..really?" Eri muttered.
Kaede nodded: and smiled: "A hero is someone who's brave, never gave up, and stands up for what they truly think is right,"
"Eh is that all?" Eri said with shock.
Kaede chuckled: "It's harder than you think okay? But in the end, it all comes down to that one choice,"
[FlashBack End]
Eri stared at her hand and she clenched her fist. If she surrendered herself now, was everything her sister done be in vain? No, Eri won't allow that to happen, she won't be afraid anymore. The child wiped the streaming tears from her eyes and glared at Kai.
"No," Eri muttered.
"nO?" Kai repeated and growled angrily.
Eri took of her gloves and stared right into the villain's eyes: "Onee-chan's right, I need to be brave! There's no need to be scared!"
When he realises what Eri was about to do, Kai's face contotred into rage"wAIT whAt tHE HeLL Do YOU tHink you'Re DoING" the villain roared and attacked.
However it was too late and Eri pressed her hand on the floor...
[Kaede POV]
It hurts....
My body aches all over...
I grasped Eri's ankle with all my strength. Please don't leave, I will protect you...
Erik shook me off and approached Kai. My heart pounded with fear and my blood boiled with anxiety. However, I couldn't do anything. Eri was walking further and further away....
No come back...
Wait...
Don't leave me...
Eri turned around and she glanced at me. I saw her reassured smile as she took of her gloves. My eyes widened and Eri threw herself onto the fleshy ground.
WHOOOOOOSH
The entire monster glowed and Kai howled angrily. The enormous creature begun to dissolve and everything was covered with a bright yellow light. I stared at Eri in shock, her hair fluttered in the wind and her horn shined, giving her a divine appearance.
I felt the pain on my body dissapearing and my injuries healed. I steadily stood up and checked my body. I stopped hurting anymore as if all the wounds I sustained were never there.
BOOOM
The giant monster that we were standing on trembled as everything disappeared and reverted back to thin air. The Kaiju have become much smaller than before and five people seemed to emerge from its flesh.
We find ourselves falling in midair and I shouted: "Susanoo!!"
Blue Chakra overlapped my body and manifested the giant Tengu Warrior once more. I darted through the sky and caught Eri with my hand.
"Onee-chan!" She yelled with relief while laying in my palm.
I smiled but a loud voice snapped us out of our happy moment.
"YoU!!!" Kai roared with rage.
He seemed to still be in his monstrous form where he fused with Rikiya. His size was much smaller than before and it was still intimidating. However, this time, I won't lose! The lightning spear reappeared in my Susanoo's hand and I raised the weapon in the air.
I glared at Kai and hurled the spear like a javelin. The weapon pierced the monster body, creating a massive explosion that shook the city. I glanced at the aftermath, there was a gaping hole in Kaiju's chest and the figure of Kai and Rikiya was visible.
I dashed towards the monster and tore the two villains out of the beast's flesh. I landed with a boom and I threw the villains to the ground. I panted and exited my Susanoo.
I hurriedly hugged Eri tightly and felt tears escaping my eyes: "Eri are you alright?"
Eri also became emotional and she nodded. I felt a large weight being lifted off my chest: "Is that so? I'm so glad..."
I glanced up and observed the damage. The destruction was extremely large and several blocks have been decimated by the villain's attack. The authorities have already arrived and they have been safely arrested.
As I held Eri, I suddenly felt pain and the aftermath of using Susanoo arrived: "Not again," I groaned.
I collapsed on my back and Eri cried out in worry. Luckily the pain wasn't as severe as before but it still rendered me motionless. I reassured her that I'm okay and we sat there in silence. I felt heat on the side of my face and I begrudgingly turned my head. Eri and I watched the sun rising over the distance.
I glanced at Eri's face and she seemed to be watching with awe: "Is this Eri's first time seeing the sunrise?"
Eri gulped and nodded. She snuggled and smiled: "Thank you onee-chan,"
"For what?" I asked.
"For giving me a family," Eri said and smiled brightly.
My heart churned and I smiled back: "No thank you for being my little sister,"
We both giggled and together we lay next to each other, relief that it's all over.
