Prologue

//Relatively new author so cut me some slack. I'll definitely get better as the story progresses.

I'm aiming for 2k+ words per chapter. I just REALLY suck at starting a novel so Im trying to keep the beginning brief and short. It's why it took me hours to write this. I just couldn't settle on how I wanted my opening to be or the direction I wanted to take.

This will probably be my shortest chapter. Expect the next one to come out sooner and to be much better than this disgrace 😅. I just needed something to get me started.

Already working on the next one.

Revan hadn't really thought too in depth about what happened after he was dead. Never putting too much stress on it, the youth figured he would find out when his time finally swooped around and he ended up kicking the proverbial bucket. There had just been far too much going on in his short life to truly worry about life after death.

Still, for as little attention as he had given it, the black haired youth hadn't expected the afterlife to be so cold. Whenever he envisioned his own passing, Revan had always pictured a fiery pit representing hell or an endless black abyss devoid of any light, a complete sense deprivation.

The last thing he expected was to wake up in the middle of a body of water.

Opening his onyx colored eyes, the first thing the black haired youth noticed was the fact that he couldn't breath, or rather that his body wouldn't LET him make the attempt to do so. Every time an effort was made, Revan's core muscles would constrict, closing up his throat and rejecting his ability to inhale. After numerous failed ventures to unknowingly suck water into his lungs, the young man finally gave up trying and simply layed there, body floating through the clear waters as bubbles of oxygen escaped from his mouth. As far as Revan was aware, dead people didn't need to breath so, for the start at least, he wasn't truly worried about getting his daily fill of O2. He was more than content drifting about the liquid expanse he was in.

Of course, Revan had every right to believe that he was dead. At least it would have actually made the most sense given the situation.

He could have been wrong, but it didn't really seem as if too many people were surviving four story tall headfirst plummets onto ripped pieces of concrete and strips of jagged rebar. It was also unlikely that, soon after crashing to their imminent demise, they would wake up and find themselves in a totally brand new environment. It would take a monumental leap in logic and common sense for one to believe they teleported from a crumbling apartment complex to an unknown location under a body of water. All of it would seem a tad bit unreasonable unless they had, in fact, kicked the bucket and moved on to the next life. It was Revan's current state of mind and why he was so at peace with everything and so accepting of it all.

At least until his chest began to burn.

What had once been a warm embrace quickly turned into a cold denial as the need to breath quickly began squeezing the youths body. A lazy drift switched to a desperate paddle as the black haired teen swam in the same direction the oxygen bubbles were moving, heading for whatever surface lay above him. His legs moved fiercely and his arms easily cut through the water, shooting Revan up rapidly.

SPLASH!!!!

Letting out an audible gasp, the young man broke the surface of the water just before his lungs imploded on themselves. Taking deep gulps, Revan kept himself afloat as he struggled to catch his breath, winded from the journey to the top.

"Ack...I think..... I inhaled... a fish," the dark eyed youth muttered as he coughed up some water. Little by little, he started to regain his senses, his body slowly resuming it's normal functionality. "Not the first..... time I nearly.....drowned. Definitely...won't be the last."

Letting out a sigh after his miniature breakdown, Revan moved his black locks away from his face and looked around, finally taking the time to get his barings.

There wasn't much to see, or rather he didn't get the chance to see much as, the moment he swiveled his head, he was grabbed by the scruff of his shirt. A black haired girl a bit taller than him with unusually tan skin hoisted him up and out of the water with one hand, catching him completely by surprise. He didn't even have time to make a noise, his body going completely limp as the female let out a monstrous yell.

"YOU DAMN PERVERT!!" The hell slammed into Revan's eardrums as he was swung back and the thrown through the air like a sack of meat. "GET THE HELL OUT OF HERE!!!"

(("That's one hell of a throw.")) Was the last thought to cross Revan's mind before he slammed into something and his world once again descended into the black abyss.

// Sorry for the length. Promise the next one is MUCH longer.
