Chapter 14

“Do you want to share a bottle of wine?” Jesse asked, lowering his menu slightly to address Emma.

“Oh. I don’t know about a whole bottle. I think a glass might be my limit until I get used to the crowds here.” She looked to Gideon. “But you’d help us finish it, right?”

He gave them a crooked smile. “I’m up for anything that lets me take advantage of you two.”

She rolled her eyes, turning her attention back to her menu. “Oh, please. Like you have to get us drunk to do that.”

It wouldn’t hurt, Jesse thought, his eyes going back to the rather impressive wine list. In fact, the entire menu was rather impressive. Jesse had wanted to just find a pizza joint or something, but Gideon had insisted they go out to a real restaurant. He wished he could enjoy it.

“I don’t mind just ordering a glass if that’s all you’re going to have. What museums were you planning to visit tomorrow morning?”
