Secrets of the Wicked

A plan that was supposed to involve saving her friends turned into a full-blown mess that plagues Anberine wherever she goes. The worst part is that it's not just any boy, it was the King's Son! How will she cope with her bully who now behaves like a puppy on not just any leash- her leash! Short Except- "What could you possibly want with her?" Marcus asked coldly only to pause as he saw Prince Skye show Anberine a withered purple flower which had yellow on the bottom petal that he had in his right jacket pocket. Anberine's mouth parted while her eyes as she narrowed them showed she was in disbelief, what was he up to? "Seriously...? A dead flower?" Anberine asked dryly not at all impressed by what he was up to. "Well it matches your eyes" Skye commented as he saw her newly changed violet eyes which were still not amused, clearing his throat he kept the flower visible "Violets that sparkle, flowers despite withering never suit you anymore than they do now" Skye said mentally blinking at what he was saying. 'Wait what? What did I just say?!' Prince Skye screamed mentally not believing what he had just said. 'Why did I said something so dumb?' he berated himself for the stupid comment. "What?" Marcus was left baffled while Anberine was even more confused, to prove she was confused she tilted her head and her expression showed she was completely lost. "What has he been drinking?" Anberine asked still in shock as she tried to observe any features that would have been off. "Did you sneak a sip from your father's wine cellar? Or did you hit your head when no one was looking?" Anberine asked bluntly now looking at Marcus who shrugged. "I did drink something" Prince Skye admitted causing the pair to stare at him quickly, that was odd why was he admitting anything and to them no less? "I've been drinking in your beauty and for a rat-faced girl, you look cute" he added with a sly smile. -Author's notes- Please let me know what you think, feedback and comments are truly appreciated. Did we drink ale when I wasn't paying attention?

"Did you upset another Noble again?" Anberine asks weakly before jumping in surprise as Morgana who was eyeing the keyhole flashed her a very worried look briefly and then looked back at the keyhole, her skin if it was possible went two shades paler and her expression showed unease leaving Anberine more worried than ever before. What happened to make her friend so uneasy?

"We have a problem, a very serious problem" Morgana said lowly as she occasionally looked at the door, almost as if she was expecting something to jump out an attack.

"What... do you... mean?" Anberine looked at her with more worry, why did she have a feeling their plan had gone completely wrong?

Seeing Anberine's baffled look Morgana flashed her a weak smile while her eyes showed guilt.

"The potion did work but um... the prince, told us he... loves you" Morgana spoke in an anxious tone as she observed the still look Anberine had on her face. Disbelief filled Anberine to the point her head tilted to the left causing her starlight hair to move to the right sharply, this caused some hair to bounce off her shoulders and land on both sides.

"Err... say that again please because I'm sure that I didn't hear you properly" Anberine spoke in a semi high voice, at the same time Anberine felt as if her mind had almost exploded from the very thought of the prince actually liking her, this had to be a joke. However Morgana to Anberine's dismay didn't smile or joke, instead the same guilty look remained on her face horrifying Anberine even more than ever. At that moment Anberine had wished she had sat down due to how her legs were now turning to jelly, this was not good at all. He hated her guts; she knew he did given how he had treated her like dirt during the years.

"The prince told us he loves you" Morgana repeated slowly as she too was trying to get her head round things. Even she was sure that this had to be a joke, but the potion was working and the prince in his twisted way was expressing he liked her and had liked her for sometime. This left her baffled as she knew that this was not how people who liked others would behave, so this no doubt had to be the potion's influence.

"Did we drink ale when I wasn't paying attention?" Anberine asked now looking more unsettled as she now sat on her bed in order to try to recover from the current shock, disbelief could not express how much she was feeling at the moment. Her toes curled against the soft carpet that rested below her bed and in a way it distracted and calmed her down just a bit.

"We know that it's the potion's influence-" Morgana tried to gather her thoughts and assure Anberine but what could she say? They messed up big time and with a royal to boot, they had been way over their heads in thinking that the prince would be controlled that easily.

"And I warned you that he would fall in love with the maker which was why I said you needed to make it, I warned you Morgana! I clearly told you that one of you had to make it but none of you listened" Anberine almost whined loudly as she placed her hands to her hair but kept her voice low for her friend's sake.

"Now I've got a target on my back and he'll be after me more than ever. Everyone knows he hates me so how is this going to work? They'll know something's up if he starts claiming he loves me Morgana, I'm in trouble and what's worse is that the plan is ruined now because he won't help you. Last time I checked he doesn't like any of us" Anberine said while sounding like she was releasing a series of quiet strangling noises that were filled with frustration.

How could they let it get this far? She warned them! The teacher had told them and now she was left with the consequences of her actions. Why had she even agreed to this to begin with?

'I should have just said no but instead I just had to agree, hey let's make him suffer for a bit and now I'm the one in trouble!' Anberine gave Morgana a withered look before groaning as she placed a hand to her face, knowing that the curse was permanent given that she didn't have the cure. Or any of the ingredients she was sure since they were rare and hard to come by.

"I know you're upset and I really am sorry. You know we would never hurt you on purpose. We were desperate and didn't want the plan to mess up... clearly we messed up big time" Morgana murmured with a guilty look that had Anberine eyeing her weakly. A huge sigh left the distressed girl's lips as she continued to eye her friend silently, Anberine then placed a hand to her lower arm and gripped it for a bit in order to steady her own nerves.

"What's done is done, but now what are we going to do? The King's going to find out we cursed his son? The prince isn't going to be quiet about his sudden 'infatuation' and it's going to cause a serious problem" Anberine asked looking more worried. Morgana smiled shakily as she placed a hand on her friend's arm.

"We'll handle it, in the meantime keep out of his line of sight. The less he sees you the less trouble you'll be in" Morgana said with a semi determined look "we'll fix this somehow, we'll hit the books first thing and we will cure him I promise" Anberine looked at her friend feeling like something inside had withered.

"Morgana... the antidote has ingredients that are very rare" Morgana froze "I tried looking into it and it's near impossible, the best thing I can suggest is the sacred springs but that's going to be a gamble given how people have tried to tamper with the waters themselves" Anberine said feeling more glum than ever.

Seeing this Morgana frowned.

"We won't give up, we will find something I promise" Morgana smiled now going towards the door surprising Anberine who parted her lips in disbelief.

"And to prove it I'm going to hit the books now" blinking Anberine was about to speak but her friend left with the door closed behind her. Startled Anberine was left rooted to the spot.

"Umm..." Anberine looked left and right not clearly understanding the sudden change or what she witnessed. Seeing that nothing was able to help her she placed a large part of her hair that was covering her face and moved it behind her ear, a sigh left her lips before eyeing her books.

The lakes she was sure were useless now a days as the magical creatures that resided there would have fled thanks to the war, whether or not the war had ended the damage had been done and caused irreversible scars.

Something that even troubled Anberine as she doubted now that a miracle would come, just as Anberine was about to sit on her bed she had heard a few gentle knocks on the door.

'Odd, who could that be? Morgana had already gone to the others so...' dread filled Anberine as she hoped who she thought was not at the door given that the males and females dorms separate areas of the school.

Plus it was against the rules for either gender to cross over towards the others especially after hours. Swallowing Anberine steeled herself and opened the door to see who it was, tensing up her worries had been confirmed a smiling Prince Skye stood at the door to her room.

Her right hand that held the doorknob tightened on the object due to nerves. What did he want now?

'Found you now, so this is where you stay' Prince Skye briefly looked at the room through the door while at times kept his eyes on her, not wanting to miss any of her reactions.

"Um... sire? You know that this is the girl's dorms right?" Anberine looked at him while trying not to show worry or unease, instead she tried to remain neutral despite the fact her heart was beating out of her chest thanks to the fact she was terrified of what he would do. Before the spell he was predictable and now, she didn't know what he would do now. To her confusion, he didn't say anything which left her more on edge.
