New Beginnings part 3

Arriving home from his shopping excursion Josh silently went up twelve flights of stairs to his apartment room above.

stopping at the door Josh silently opened it door and went toward his room to get ready to sleep.

after a quick shower which was something he had not experienced in a long time he groggily sat down in bed and set a alarm for 7 Am before falling to sleep.

*ring ring ring* Quickly silencing the alarm he had previously set, Josh got up from bed and went to make breakfast in a lethargic manner.

using modern cooking equipment for the first time in years Josh started reminiscing about his time in the apocalypse.

In the beginning Josh was awakened early and gained only one power which was considered painfully mid tier compared to the other people Josh was fighting alongside later on in his apocalyptic journey.

With all the possible powers you could gain in your awakening Josh received a stealth related skill

which aided in hiding his presence, blending in with your surroundings and canceling noise output within a certain range of your body.

Originally considering his power to be weak he was scared to fight in this new world but by honing his skills through many a horrific battle towards the end of his time in the apocalypse he was a feared assassin and skilled warrior.

Remembering the many people he lost in his pursuit for power all he felt was numbness; he felt he had no debt to these people and even though some of them had even willingly laid down their lives for him that was all in a feature that does not even exist anymore.

Stealing his resolve he vowed that this time around he would not mourn losses and gain power solely by his own hands and with no help from others.

Also he would not go out of his way to help people from his previous timeline but if they showed up in front of him he would slightly assist them in their respective paths but people that he had never met were no more than ants in his eyes and would be used as stepping stone to gain power and influence in the new world.

"time to leave and enjoy the last day before all hell breaks loose" Josh said before stepping out the door and heading down the stairs.

Hailing a taxi Josh proceeds to a mall to shop and play the day away.

"Time to go back" Josh says checking his watch and heading back home. Normally Josh would have headed out of town to avoid zombie herds and newly awakened ability users that couldn't control their new found powers but now that he had the chance to steal powers he decided to stay to kidnap and imprison one of the ability users who he remembered awakening inside his very own apartment complex.

Normally Josh would have forgot a ability user from that early on in the apocalypse but this specific power that the man had awakened was very unique and he but he had also sacrificed himself to save his girlfriend who only died a few weeks after.

'Ughhh what a waste' just imagining the things he would of accomplished with that power he almost felt for the man.

The man's ability gave him the power to freely command a person weaker than them for a period of time depending on how much stronger you were than the person you were controlling was.

Unfortunately or fortunately depending on how he may have used it, the person who had this power was vehemently against using it because he had a very strong moral compass but luckily for me my moral compass disappeared years ago.

Finally arriving at the apartment complex Josh moved up the stairway and waited until it was an appropriate time to kidnap the man.

12:30 Am, "Ok its time" Josh said before quietly making his way to room 706 where the man stayed.

'Luckily i checked with the owner to find out who he was by matching his description with what i had remembered about him so i could find his room number' Josh thought to himself before proceeding to pick the poor bastards lock and silently knocking him unconscious with a chloroform coated rag.

After carrying the man, apparently named Joseph, to his own apartment Josh tied and gagged him thoroughly so Joseph couldn't escape or use his power on him in case he had a change of heart on what he felt was acceptable in this new timeline and circumstance.

Also i plan on limiting use of the skill MC will gain next chapter to help him steal powers easier and it will probably not see much combat use so make sure his power is something you would enjoy reading about him using ***}}}
