SAVE ME, SIREN!

"Who are you?" Caroline felt her heart break. She felt hurt, betrayed, pain, and anger towards the man in front of her. "Who...are you?" Her voice started to break. The man sighed deeply. He stared into the eyes of the person he loved the most in his life and whispered. "I am your Harvey-" Caroline pushed him but failed to make him budge. "Harvey would not lie to me this much." every word was filled with hurt. The man held her in a tight hug that prevented her to escape from his arms. "I have relied on you for so long. I followed what you said and learned everything that I know." She sobbed. "You know me...but I do not know you." The man held her even tighter. "I am still the one who loves you with all my life. Please, don't leave me." She felt helpless. "Was I just a doll that you carry around? Was I a toy that you groomed and played with?" She gritted her teeth. "Was I just your little doll?" She whispered in disbelief to her own realization. "A little doll that you toyed with." The man shook his head as he hugged her even tighter. Part 48: Leave

I looked at Kole's eyes, they were scared as well. I know Kole is a strong person but I guess he isn't that far different from how humans feel and I understand that. He, his family, and his kind are fighting for the ocean.

"What is it, Kole?" I ask, not knowing what it could be.

Kole softened his grip on my shoulders but whispered audible enough that I can hear clearly. "Next week, before dawn breaks..." he looked at me dead in the eyes. "Leave"

His voice as he said the word continued to ring in my ear and echo in my head. I try to process what he just said to me which I heard clearly. To leave...did he really say that?

"Leave? Why?" I wanted an explanation. I wanted a solid reason why I was needed to leave and to where?

Kole nodded his head and clenched his jaw. "War is coming. The sholters will take you away if you don't leave next week." He huffed. "They know you're Kosair's weakness and it will be the death of us all."

I know so little about the siren kingdom and what goes on in the deep blue sea. All I know is I have to trust Kole. By trying to piece everything out, it's better to leave.

"But...for how long?" I asked, swallowing the lump that was in my throat.

Kole replied. "One year at the very least. I will help you get out of here."

I shook my head. "That's alright. Harvey and I actually are moving to another country anyway." I said sadly. Maybe Kole didn't hear the circling news yet.

His eyes told me everything. He just knew about this news and somehow he showed relief. At first, it was shocking but after that came relief. Maybe it was too convenient for him to have me gone without doing any effort.

"Harvey?" He questioned. "Why Harvey?" He looked at me with really curious eyes.

"We're gonna get married in a couple of months." I said.

Kole's eyes widened in disbelief. I don't know what he's thinking of right now but I can only assume three things. I know that he has a lot of questions. Why am I marrying Harvey when Kosair is my soulmate, and why am I really moving before I know about something bad is gonna happen.

Kole looked away for a second then looked back at me. "You know what? I'm happy for both of you. You should go. I sense some spy sholters heading this way." He said before diving back into the sea, his red tail fading into the blue waters underneath the moonlight.

"Caroline!" I whip my head to see Tiffany waving at me. I stood up and looked back at the ocean with one more glance and then walked away. The group was loading our stuff to the transport and we headed to Briana's house for a sleepover.

As we start to leave farther and farther away from the sea, I could only think about what is going to happen to them. Sholters...I've read about them in the museum once and they're fish folk that look like humans.
