Please, don't leave me." She felt helpless. "Was I just a doll that you carry around? Was I a toy that you groomed and played with?" She gritted her teeth. "Was I just your little doll?" Part 15: Money is Money

"I'll see myself out"

I just remembered that they're a part of a war freak community. Their group fights to the death and they help one another when it comes to violence.

then I remembered I was being told that their group member once had a small misunderstanding with a neighbor and when the whole community of their belief heard about it, they chased the man with illegal arms and swords. Poor man, he was in a critical condition after twenty stabs but luckily he reached the police station in time.

I gulped and silently walked out the door.

After turning the corner, I ran as fast as I could.

"Even if they're in the wrong...they still think that they're right." I said to myself. That's why aunt Jenny couldn't side with me. She believed that Jasper was not wrong with what he was doing.

"Repulsive people." I said as I caught my breath after running.

"Caroline?"

I looked up and saw Briana.

We ended up at the terrace of her house.

"You told her everything, huh? That was bold." She laughed. "You did something that everyone wanted to do for the past five years." She gave me a smile.

"She gave me money...to keep me quiet."

"What are you gonna do with it?" She asked me.

"It was a fair payoff for the expenses that he owed me, maybe I'll buy vitamins, medicine, probably invest and use the money to spend food for Bruno."

"Invest?" Briana looked at me with wide eyes. "I didn't know you invested."

I nodded. "I need to earn money for myself to prove to people that I'm not a burden to my family and to society. I'm investing in a tech company that develops robotic animals and pets."

Briana clapped her hands. "You're doing great, don't worry. Who's the owner of that company?"

"I think it was..." I thought for a second and then got puzzled. "Siren."

"How much do you earn from the investment?" Briana looked at me with curiosity.

I looked at her with appreciation. She really does listen. "I just invested a few weeks ago before the research project. I'll be receiving the percentage in about tomorrow." I happily said. I still don't know how much I'm getting but it would be a good start to get money without working. I did it because I don't want anything to interfere with my studies.

I know that actually need physical work if I could apply for a job somewhere but the only place that I want to work in is a library.

The peace and quiet. Also, I could be doing schoolwork while working there.

There is a magnificent private library that only members and rich people get to go to because it was also like a museum with all the old books, relics, and gems around the place and things that would represent the topics of some of the history books, the research book, and astrology and geology books.

Briana looked at me with realization in her eyes. "That's convenient. You can just tell the owner of the tech company to employ you in that library!" She jumped up.

I looked at her and chuckled. "But the owner just owns the tech company."

Briana just shook her head. "I've heard from my relative that goes to that library that the owner's name is Olivia Siren."

I looked at her, shocked. "Olivia? Olivia Siren? Are you sure?"

She nodded.

"I think I might have a chance to work my dream job during the summer."
