"Who are you?" Caroline felt her heart break. She felt hurt, betrayed, pain, and anger towards the man in front of her. "Who...are you?" Her voice started to break. The man sighed deeply. He stared into the eyes of the person he loved the most in his life and whispered. "I am your Harvey-" Caroline pushed him but failed to make him budge. "Harvey would not lie to me this much." every word was filled with hurt. The man held her in a tight hug that prevented her to escape from his arms. "I have relied on you for so long. I followed what you said and learned everything that I know." She sobbed. "You know me...but I do not know you." The man held her even tighter. "I am still the one who loves you with all my life. Please, don't leave me." She felt helpless. "Was I just a doll that you carry around? Was I a toy that you groomed and played with?" She gritted her teeth. "Was I just your little doll?" She whispered in disbelief to her own realization. "A little doll that you toyed with." The man shook his head as he hugged her even tighter. Part 10 : The Rules

"Caroline...you know that's not true. I KNOW that it's not true." Briana said as she brought the tissues near her and gave them to me.

I just cried silently as I looked at the tissue with my thoughts just all jumbled up...like everything doesn't make sense.

"I believe that the people who are hurting the most are the ones who cry silently." She said in a gentle voice. "You know that I'm always here for you, Caroline. Even though you may think that way, I can see that it's not true."

But it is.

Why isn't she agreeing to what I say?

I'm now in bed, cuddled up with Bruno since I couldn't get tired. My mind is foggy and tears can't stop running down my face.

I look at the ring at my desk and looked back at the ceiling.

"To the one that owns my heart...it must've been sad that they have to lose the ring." I imagined what had happened that someone could've lost it...

Someone's POV

"What the hell?" I said as tears start to stream down my face.

"Dude? You good?"

I started to choke as I sobbed. "What the hell is happening?" I panicked a little but realized something.

"Ah...she a tear finally dropped on that ring." my mom said. "That's the power of destiny. You'll feel the same emotions that your soulmate is feeling."

"Destiny...I never actually believed in that." I stared at my mom in disbelief. "I never did."

My mom smirked. "I'm glad I tricked you into making a vow on that ring, and-"

I realized that I cried the other day...and mom was there.

Did she just. I looked at her in shock.

She held up a vile which contained a little liquid. "Your tears" She said. "You cried in your sleep one time, and I took that opportunity." She said in a victorious tone. "Does your heart hurt?" she asked.

I nodded.

She clapped her hands. "That's your true soulmate. Good thing...cause breaking a false bond is a lot of work."

"Tell me about it."

Dad?

"Who had a false bond?" I asked him.

"A lot of the sirens in the palace did. They didn't follow destiny. Destiny destroyed them."

Destiny...destroyed? "How?" I asked him seriously.

Dad sat on a chair near me. "You see. When you're really mean to be, you fall apart. It may be because of misunderstandings, not being able to forgive, unable to love and be love, and the list goes on. Sometimes, it's not what you expect but if it is from destiny, it always works out."

"Who do I know, didn't follow destiny?" I asked him. Since he's the king, he knows.

"Your cousin Iris. She forced a bond with a siren that she desperately wanted to be with despite destiny directing her to one of the royal guards. After a few months, the man Iris forced a bond with got attacked by a shark because he went hunting with the delinquents of the palace."

I didn't know that...no wonder Iris lost the life in her eyes.

"Iris had a miscarriage after a few days." Mom continued. "This is serious, son."

"Being a siren, you need to follow the rules of destiny. Remember, you fell in love with Caroline and cried out that diamond. Remember that."

I nodded.

"Destiny needs to prove it to me first." I looked at my parents and at my best friend. "If I admit that I love her, then I'll follow destiny. If not, I'll pass the throne to Kole."

Mom and dad looked at each other and nodded. "Deal"

I smirked.

I feel a tug in my heart. She's still crying.

It's still so hard to believe.

but...

what if I'm already falling?
