-Second Task – At the Bottom of the Black Lake-

Fleur was a little far away from me, but with my current aquatic skills I was able to quickly swim to her.

And arriving where Fleur was, I saw that she was in combat with the Grindylows, swimming while trying to escape their sharp and dangerous claws.

And she wasn't having an easy time, since she couldn't use magic very well underwater.

And because of that, the Grindylows were surrounding her, taking advantage of her weakness, and before anything happened I decided to intervene.

'Wait a minute' I stopped, turning around and fixing my eyes in a certain direction, 'This magic... there's a Merperson watching us'

And when I opened my senses I realized that there was more than one Merperson nearby, 'They're probably here to watch us and see how we did on the task, and then tell the Headmaster everything' I realized.

And I was still looking at where I felt Merperson, but a growl from Fleur broke me out of my thoughts, 'Focus Ethan, you don't have time to think about these things, you have a friend to save'

And with one impulse I swam towards them, and with my wand in hand I cast a powerful repulsion spell on the chaotic aquatic creatures, driving them away from the French champion.

"Fleur!" I called the Veela, who turned to see who had saved her.

"Ethan?!" she exclaimed, and I could hear the surprise and relief in her voice.

"Are you well? Did they hurt you?" I asked as soon as I reached her side, looking for injuries on her body with a worried look.

"I'm fine, they didn't hit me" Fleur replied, her voice a little muffled because of the Bubble-Head Charm. She then looked at me confused, "But what about you? What are you doing here?"

"I'm here to help you obviously" I replied.

"But why? You should be going to rescue your hostage" she had an agitated look on her face.

"Because you're my friend" I said, looking into her eyes, "And you don't need to worry about my hostage, I still have plenty of time to save her"

And Fleur was going to continue arguing, but some growls caught our attention, and looking back we saw that the Grindylows had recovered and were coming towards us again.

"Come on, we have to get away from them quickly" I said, taking Fleur's hand before starting to swim away from the Grindylows.

I then used a spell to give me more speed and to propel me further forward, managing to leave the Grindylows behind.

"Ethan... Wait... Bubble-Head..." I heard Fleur say, and looking at her I saw that she was breathing hard.

And when I saw this I stopped, "Fleur, what happened?" I asked.

"The bubble... they punctured it..." she replied.

And looking at the bubble that covered her head I noticed that it was smaller than before, and that there was a small, almost imperceptible hole in it where the air was coming out.

"Damn it" I cursed, realizing that this way the bubble would burst and Fleur would no longer be able to breathe underwater.

And to make matters worse I could feel the Grindylows approaching us.

"And now?! What should we do?! They're almost there and there's no time to get to the surface!" Fleur spoke quickly with fear in her eyes, starting to panic.

And in this situation my mind started to work quickly, and I kept looking at Fleur thinking about a solution, until I looked at myself.

'I got it!' I thought, before looking back at the girl in front of me.

And Fleur, who didn't hear any response from me, continued to despair, breathing quickly what was consuming the Bubble-Head's air faster.

"Fleur, calm down" I said, holding the Veela's arms and making her look at me.

Fleur's eyes then locked with mine, and upon seeing the calm amber of my eyes, Fleur felt her panic and nervousness lessen, feeling more relaxed.

She then started to control her breathing, and as soon as I saw that she was calmer I continued, "Listen to me, I'm going to cast a spell on you, and you will feel strange at first, but don't resist and just accept the changes. that will occur in your body"

And hearing this, Fleur nodded, trusting me completely.

And without wasting any more time I raised my wand, before pointing it at her chest.

I then cast the same transfiguration spell on her that I cast on myself, and little by little I could see her body change using my Magic Vision.

"Urgh" Fleur grunted in discomfort as she closed her eyes, feeling something change inside her.

However, this discomfort did not last long, as in the next instant the transfiguration was completed.

"Okay, I finished" I said, making Fleur open her eyes slowly.

She then looked at herself, seeing that her hands and feet now looked like flippers, and touching her neck she felt small fissures that she realized were gills.

"Now you will be able to swim and breathe underwater like a fish, so you won't need it anymore" I pointed to the bubble on his head.

And when I said that Fleur looked at me, before looking at herself again. She then slowly brought her hand to her head, and a little nervously she held her breath, before finishing popping the bubble.

And now that there was no longer a bubble protecting her, the lake water was completely covering Fleur's head, who was still holding her breath.

"This spell won't do much good if you keep holding your breath, you know?" I said to her.

And I could still feel that she was scared, but after listening to what I said and showing immense trust in me, she released the air she was holding, breathing carefully.

And when Fleur realized that she wasn't drowning, she looked at me in amazement, "Incredible" she murmured.

"I know" I nodded, "But I don't think it's time to be thinking about how cool it is to breathe underwater" I said, looking behind her.

And following my gaze, Fleur saw that the group of Grindylows following us had increased, and that they were now less than 30 meters away from us.

And the curses that came out of Fleur's mouth would have left any sailor traumatized, but for some reason I found it strangely attractive.

But I didn't have time to think about that, as Fleur and I immediately turned around and started swimming away from the Grindylows.

The two of us then started trying to outrun the chaotic aquatic demons, which were practically on our backs.

'Damn insistent creatures' I cursed, looking back and seeing a Grindylow trying to bite my foot.

But before it could close its mouth to try to devour my limb, several algae and roots came to life and grabbed it, pulling it to the bottom of the lake.

"Damn, why are they chasing you so voraciously?" I asked, dodging the claws of another Grindylow before kicking it in the face.

"It's because I'm a Veela" Fleur replied with a frown, swinging her wand and casting a spell at a group of three of these ugly creatures, sending them away, "We have a natural feud with magical aquatic creatures"

And upon hearing her response I finally understood why she was attacked both in canon and now.

'And that also explains why she was the most affected when she discovered that her sister was being held hostage under the lake' I thought, frowning.

Because Gabi was also a Veela, she was in more danger than the other hostages, so it made sense that she would be so worried about her sister.

"Well, in that case we can't go to the Merpeople' village where the hostages are. Not with them following us," I said, looking at Fleur, "Even if the Merpeople are there they may not be able to control the Grindylows, and they may end up hurting a hostage"

And the thought of Gabrielle being hurt by one of these creatures made a frown appear on Fleur's face, "So what do we do?" she asked.

And then a serious look appeared on my face, "We have to get rid of them" I replied.

And upon hearing this Fleur nodded, as serious as I was, "Oui" she said.

And now that we had decided what we were going to do, the two of us stopped swimming, before turning around and facing the wild and aggressive Grindylows that were ready to tear us apart with their claws and teeth.

And seeing these creatures didn't make me scared or nervous, it just made me excited. 'Now it's your turn to become the prey' I thought, feeling my blood boil in anticipation as my magic became agitated.

-Meanwhile in the stands-

While the champions ran, or better said, swam against time to save their hostages, the people who came to watch the second task of the Tri-Wizard Tournament looked at the surface of the black lake with curiosity and nervousness.

"I wonder what's going on down there?" my mom asked as she looked at the lake with apprehension.

"I don't know," Penny said, and she might not be as nervous as my mom, but she wasn't completely calm either.

"Urgh, why the hell did you guys have to do a second task where we can't even see what's going on with the champions?" my mom asked frustrated.

"Yes" my dad nodded, "If the tournament organizers already knew there would be an audience watching, then they should have at least thought about whether we would actually be able to watch the task"

"You might be right, but I don't think things are that simple," Remus said.

"Isn't it that simple?" my dad looked at him skeptically, "Aren't you wizards full of magic and skills? With spells that can change reality and stuff?"

"Well, in a way yes, but..." Remus started to say, but my dad didn't give him the chance to continue.

"In that case, if you are so incredible, couldn't you have invented something or some spell to show the audience what is happening down there?" my dad asked, and my mom beside him nodded to his every word.

"Yes, and don't even tell me that this is impossible, since I'm sure that Ethan would be capable of doing something like this" my mom said, and if I had been by her side I would have been happy and proud to hear that.

And being put against the wall by my dad and mom made all the wizards and witches in the group that were with them stop and blink.

Everyone then looked at each other, a little embarrassed because they realized that they, who were Muggles who had only known this world for a short time, were right.

But in addition to being embarrassed, Sirius and Nick were also thoughtful, as they knew there must be a way to show what was happening at the bottom of the lake to everyone.

And it was with this in mind that some ideas started to come to their minds.

'Hmm, I guess I'll have to have a little chat with Dumbledore after this task' Sirius thought.

End.
