-Still at the Nights' House-

After the happy news that Sirius was finally getting a trial, my mom decided that we should have a big celebratory dinner.

With everyone agreeing with the idea, my mom and Penny went to the kitchen to prepare dinner, with the rest of the group following them.

Everyone went to the kitchen, but before Sirius could go join the others I grabbed his arm preventing him from leaving, and turning to me he noticed my serious look.

"What there was?" he asked, a little concerned at my look, and I sighed.

"Sigh... I told Harry you're innocent," I said.

"Oh well, and why do you say that like it's something worrisome or bad?" Sirius asked me confused.

"Sirius, I didn't say I think you're innocent, I said I'm pretty sure you're innocent, and if Harry thinks about it he'll realize that I basically stated that I know you" I replied, and hearing this Sirius got serious too.

"Oh" he said.

"Yes...Oh" I said too.

Sirius then sighed as he ran a hand through his hair, "Well, it's not like he won't figure it out anyway when I'm cleared," he said.

I didn't comment on the fact that Sirius already believed with certainty that he would be cleared.

"Yes, but I'm sure that when he realizes I know you, he'll talk to Hermione, and with that brilliant mind of hers she'll eventually notice the 'coincidences' that surround your trial and our meeting" I said, and that made Sirius stop for a bit.

"This Hermione…" Sirius started to say in a serious tone, and I looked at him with a raised eyebrow curiously, "Is she Harry's girlfriend?"

"..."

"..."

"..."

"..."

"Is that really what you want to know?" I asked dryly, feeling my right eye twitch.

"What? I can't be curious about my godson's girlfriend?" Sirius asked me.

"And who said she's his girlfriend?" I asked.

"Well, you already told me that he had romantic feelings for a certain friend of his, and that they were possibly reciprocated, so if she isn't already his girlfriend, at some point she will be" Sirius shrugged, and I couldn't say he was wrong.

"You…" I started to say but then I just sighed as I shook my head, "You know what, forget it"

I then turned and started walking towards the kitchen, with Sirius looking at my back in confusion.

Noticing that he was still standing in the middle of the living room, I turned to face him.

"You do not come?" I asked.

"Huh? Oh! Yeah, I'm on my way" he said, and then came to my side, "What are they cooking? I'm starving"

And listening to him I rolled my eyes good-naturedly.

"You'll end up a fat dog that way," I said, and Sirius looked mildly offended, before starting to feel his own stomach.

"Me? Fat? As if" he sneered, but inside a little concern about his 'beautiful and dignified' appearance surfaced.

And I again rolled my eyes.

-Trial Day-

-Hogwarts – Friday Afternoon-

Today was the long-awaited trial day that would decide Sirius's future, and probably Harry's as well. But in addition to changing their future, today's trial could also be the first big change I make in this world, and it could alter future events I knew, for better or for worse.

I knew from a letter sent by Sirius that the trial would start at 8 am, which meant that either the trial was ending or it had already ended.

I spent the whole day thinking about the trial, but not because I was worried about the outcome of it and whether Sirius would be cleared or not, but because after the trial I would have to do something very risky.

Well, I say I would have to do something very risky, but in fact I could already be doing it.

Yes, I know what I said is confusing, as there's no way I'm doing anything when I'm still at Hogwarts, but I can explain it in one simple word.

Time.

Yes, I'm talking about going back in time so that while I'm here in school, I'm also in the ministry.

And for that, I would need a Time-Turner, since as far as I know there is still no spell that allows the caster to travel in time.

But back to the Time-Turner, I needed to get this magical object today, and preferably this very moment, and so I was walking around the school with my senses on full blast, looking for a certain person.

And walking through the corridors near the library it didn't take long for me to find the person I was looking for.

"Hermione" I called, seeing the golden trio mind walking alongside Lavender and Parvati with some books in her arms, probably having just left the library.

Hermione, hearing someone call, stopped and turned around, blinking in surprise to see that I was the one who called her.

Catching up with her I stopped beside her, nodding slightly to Lavender and Parvati, with Lavender blushing slightly as she twirled a lock of hair around her finger, and I resisted the urge to scowl at that.

Shaking my head and deciding to ignore the gossiping hormonal girl, I turned to Hermione.

"Hi Ethan" Hermione greeted me, and then tilted her head to the side, "Do you need me for something?" she asked.

"Well, actually yes, but I'd like to talk about it privately," I said, glancing at the girls behind her.

And Hermione understood that what I wanted to talk about with her had to be important and maybe even a secret, and that it wasn't the wisest choice to talk about it around the two most gossip people in school.

"Oh, well, I know where we can talk privately," she said, and turning around she gave a slight nod to the girls, who wore disappointed faces that they couldn't hear our conversation.

And I obviously ignored Lavender's jealous glare directed at Hermione.

Hermione then grabbed the sleeve of my shirt and started leading me through the corridors, and after walking a little we arrived in front of an abandoned classroom.

Entering the room, Hermione closed the door, turning towards me only to see me casting some spells around the room.

"What are you doing?" she asked confused.

"I'm putting some privacy spells on to prevent anyone from eavesdropping on our conversation" I replied without looking at her, still casting spells.

After feeling that I had secured the room enough I turned towards Hermione, only to find the curly haired girl staring at me with her mouth open.

"What?" I asked confused.

"These are sixth year spells," she said in surprise.

"And?" I asked again with a look that said 'And that's supposed to be impressive?'

"And you're a third year, and these spell are very complex and…" Hermione started to say, but she noticed my blank look, and then she remembered it was me she was talking about, "Oh, never mind"

Shrugging I decided to talk about why I wanted to talk to her alone.

"Well, I'll get straight to the point" I said looking at her, "The reason I wanted to talk to you is because I actually want to make a request of you"

"A request?" Hermione asked, now curious.

"Yes" I said, and then took a deep breath, "I was wondering if you could lend me your Time-Turner for a day."

And as soon as I said that Hermione looked at me in surprise, and I could see the shock flash through her eyes before she tried to hide it, taking on a confused expression.

"Time-Turner? What is it?" she asked, but I could feel the nervousness coming from her.

"Hermione, do you want me to believe that you, the girl who has probably read half the books in the Hogwarts library, don't know what a Time-Turner is?" I asked rolling my eyes.

Hermione then stopped, blinking before realizing her mistake.

Seeing that she was still a little hesitant to talk about the Time-Turner she had with her at this very moment, I figured I had to take a different approach to convince her to trust me with this secret.

"Look Hermione, I know you have a Time-Turner with you, and I know Professor McGonagall gave you it to help you with your classes" I started to say, and Hermione opened her mouth to say something, but I stopped her, "And I know that because Professor McGonagall had also offered me a Time-Turner at the beginning of the school year, but I turned it down"

And when I said that I could see Hermione blink in surprise, before thinking about it and realizing that it actually made sense for Professor McGonagall to offer me a Time-Turner too, since I was a model student myself, and besides, everyone knew I was her favorite student.

"Well, if you turned down the Time-Turner, why do you want it now?" she asked me.

"It's just that I need to finish some homework that I haven't finished yet, and I wanted to use it for a day to have more time to finish them" I replied, lying for an obvious reason.

"You haven't finished all your homework yet?!" Hermione asked, looking even more shocked than when I revealed that I knew she had an item that allowed her to back in time.

"Yes?" I said with a strange look.

"But…you…that…" Hermione stammered, but I just looked at her with a raised eyebrow.

Noticing my look, Hermione clamped her mouth shut, realizing that her outburst was a bit over the top.

Leaving aside the discovery that Ravenclaw's "silver star" hadn't finished all of his homework, Hermione started thinking about my request, weighing the pros and cons.

"Sigh... Fine, I'll lend you the Time-Turner" Hermione said after thinking for a while, "But I want a deal"

"A deal?" I asked with interest.

"Yes, I'll lend you the Time-Turner, but for that you'll owe me one," she replied, a sly twinkle in her eye.

Torn between feeling impressed and amused, I shrugged.

"Well, as long as it's not something too extreme or weird, I'll take it," I said.

"Nice" Hermione said with a smile.

After I accepted the deal, Hermione took the Time-Turner that was attached to a gold chain that was around her neck, hidden inside her blouse.

She then offered the Time-Turner to me and I held out my hand to take it, but she pulled it back to her, and I looked at her in confusion.

"But remember I'm loaning you the Time-Turner for 1 day only, and I'm going to have to tell Professor McGonagall about this," Hermione said, and I nodded.

Seeing that I had understood, Hermione then handed me the Time-Turner, and when I took the magic item in my hand I could feel its magic, which acted in a confused and agitated way.

'Now I just need to get to the final part of the plan' I thought with a determined look.

End.
