Ch. 51 Hunted ii

Pov.

-Kara-

Thanks to Marlowe and Hitch we get into Trost district and split into two teams Levi went in to scout the area with some of Hanges soldiers while we wait for a to hear back from him

Gunshots

I heard gunshots

"D-do you guys here that?" Sasha asks

"Yeah" I stand up "go.. as we planned"

They all take their posts and I do so as well

We have to get him back before they make it through the inner wall. Beyond that, security is going to be impossible to get through

That's why we snuck our way inside. To get to him before then

I swing from building to building trying to read the situation but nothing was coming up

The bullets seemed to be following Levi, but how?

This doesn't make sense. How is the Military Police keeping up with Levi?

"It's a pleasure.. Amaterasu" I hear behind me

I quickly jerk my body around

I cross my blades in front of my face just as he pulls the trigger

The bullets ricochet off my blades, snapping them in half

He aims his other hand cannon at me

I manage to dig my anchor onto a chimney and jerk myself away

I could hear people flying around me

I reach into my pocket and draw a black signal flair

I extend my arm aiming it right at the prick before pulling the trigger

The flair smashes onto his chest and I jump into the smoke before his buddy's could shoot me down

"Ghk*" he groans "One second you're the hero this Kingdom longed for and the next, you're some lowly scum. An enemy of the Kingdom being hunted down like a wild dog"

I shoot my anchor at his chest and I manage to reel him in

"Nghk*" he chokes

"Good, I was starting to get a little bored." I slice his head clean off his shoulders before kicking off his body

I swing around managing to evade all their bullets before I finally turn around and launch myself at the horde

"Hahaha!" I laugh hysterically before throwing both my blades at the guy right behind me

They both pierce his chest before my anchor does so as well

I quickly reel him in and I reattach the blades to my handles

"Wh-what the?" he chokes

I jerk him back behind me before launching him at the chick that was ready to pull the trigger

I fling myself into their comrade who was too busy watching his friends fall to their deaths

I dig my blades into his stomach before ripping his body in half

"Hehe" I lick my lips before heading straight for the inner gate

…

I just hope everyone's holding their own against these guys

I've never seen anything like it

It's clear their existence was mad solely to hunt down the scout regimine

I finally spot the wagon carrying the coffin forcing its way through the crowds

Everyone, even Mikasa was far behind

I quickly catch up to the wagon

I manage to land on the back undetected by the driver

I open the coffin to let Eren out, only for my arm to get obliterated by someone who was hiding inside

I stumble back as she trains her weapon at my chest

"Don't move." She warns me

I could see it in her eyes that she won't hesitate to shoot

"Drop it."

I drop my weapons and I slowly raise my hands behind my head

"On your knees"

…

"No."

She blasts my left knee

I stumble back but I manage to catch myself on the edge

She waves her gun trying to get me to do as she told

I slowly bring my hands back up behind my head

"Do.. it."

"No."

Her finger flinches on the trigger

But she doesn't shoot

She just stood there…

With a bloody arrowhead right in between her eyebrows

Moments later Sasha came crashing out of the sky

I hold my hand out, keeping her from busting her face on the coffin

"Sasha." I grab her collar as she turned to look at the girl who was falling off the side

She turns around and looks me in the eye

Her face was pale. Her eyes widened as if she had just made the biggest mistake of her life

"Hey!" The driver shouts

I yank Sasha into my arms and I jumped off the side

After rolling a couple of times I carefully sit myself up

"Ah-shit"

"A-are you okay?" Sasha asks

"Do I.. do I look okay?" I huff

She shakes her head

I take her blade

"What are you doing?" She asks as I set the edge on my thigh, just above the bullet wound

"Heh" I snicker before I manage to chop my leg off in a single go

"Ghh-" I grit my teeth "shit!" I growl

"Ahh?! Why'd you do that?!" She grabs my thigh, trying to stop the bleeding

Moments later my leg finally grows back

"W-wait.. wh-what?" She sits back

I take a deep breath before standing up

"C'mon." I offer Sasha a hand

She pokes the amputated limb

"Whua?!" She gasps

It suddenly blackens and turns to ash

"Sasha."

She looks up at me, takes my hand and I help her up

"We have to find everyone"

"Y-yeah" she sighs

After meeting with Levi in an abandoned apartment building Mikasa joined us with Jean and Connie

"What do you mean he wasn't there?!" Mikasa growls

"It was empty, Mikasa. It was a trap from the very beginning"

"Wh-what?" Armin covers his mouth

"The rookies only knew what they wanted them to know"

"No.. This isn't happening." Armin turns around "n-no way. I-I killed someone, we did everything we could!" He pukes all over the floor

"Hey!" I growl "Pull yourself together, I said this would happen did I not?!"

"That's enough." Levi says "we'll wait here till we hear back from Hange. Let's get some sleep in the meantime"

…

I laid in bed for a couple hours until I got up for a gallon of water

On my way back I heard the sink running in the bathroom

I creep the door open and sure enough, I find Sasha laying on the ground

She carefully sits up

I offer her some water

She takes the water

I shut the faucet as she finishes up

"C'mon."

I help her up and I bring her over to my room

"Y-you sure this is okay?"

…

"I can't sleep either"

"Oh…" she closes the door behind herself

After shutting the lights I help her get out of her soaked clothes

I hand her a t-shirt and I hang her clothes by the window before joining her in bed

I light my last cigar and I sit back against the bed frame

After about half an hour Sasha sits up

"I-I still can't sleep"

…

"Close your eyes."

"I-I can't. Every time I do…"

I hold my hand out pinching my precious cigar

You'll never catch me sharing anything. Especially my cigars

But Sasha… she just reminds me of Petra.. so damn much

"Wh-what?"

"Take a hit"

She pinches the tip and brings it up to her mouth

She began coughing and gagging immediately

"Don't inhale it" I pat her back

I wonder why she reminds me so much of her

It isn't her looks.. and its defiantly not her personality..

Maybe it's just her smile…

After she finally calms herself she hands it back before hugging me tight

"How do you do it?" She sniffs "how are you so calm, Kara?"

"I guess… I try not thinking about it"

"H-how?" She asks as I lead the cigar into her mouth

She makes sure not to inhale it this time

"Everytime I close my eyes… I-"

"Then don't close your eyes, Sasha" I run my fingers through her hair "stay awake for as long as you can. Eventually.. you're bound to fall asleep."

"B-but.."

"It is only the beginning. You will.. have to do it again"

"Oh God." She digs her head into my arm

"Wh-what if she let you go?"

…

"What if she just wanted to ask you a few questions? Wh-what if sh-"

"You did what you did because there was no other way."

…

We passed the cigar back and forth until she was relaxed enough to fall asleep

…

I woke up around 5 in the morning..

I toss the blanket aside

After pulling my joggers on Sasha wakes up

"Where are you going?"

…

"Carla. It's about time Historia comes back."

"I'll go with you"

"No. It'll be fine"

"They're still looking for you."

"Just.. get some rest. I'll be back soon."

I cover up from head to toe

After about an hour I finally arrived at Carla's place

After making sure no one tailed me I head inside

There didn't seem to be anyone home but I hear someone cough suddenly

I close the door behind me before going down the hallway

I peek inside the bedroom

Carla.. she was folding clothes so I knock twice, pushing the door open as I did

"Oh hey honey that was-" She stops, just realizing it was me

"Honey?"

…

She turns around

"An old friend" she continues with the clothes

"A friend, huh?"

"What is it you want, Kara?"

…

"Historia.. I was hoping I'd find her here"

"Historia?"

"Krista. She's going by her real name now."

…

"She dropped by to invite me to your wedding"

"Wedding?"

"She said it's only a matter of time till the two of you-"

"Yeah" I sigh "yeah, I know."

"Funny, I never thought. You, of all people could settle down" she smiles

"I'll have a kingdom to run. So really, it's a lot more complicated than that"

"Well, I'll be looking forward to that."

…

"So, did I just miss her?"

"No, actually she left five days ago."

"What? Are you sure?"

Three days ago I was still in Ermich with Erwin. She should've been back

"Yeah. She said she wanted to surprise you with a cake you can only get here in Trost"

…

"Really?"

Still, that doesn't make any sense. She should've been back.

Something must've happened

But what?

Who knows besides us?

"What? What's wrong?" She follows me to the front door

"Find somewhere else to stay. At least for now."

"What's going on? Is Historia alright?"

The faint sound of an iron wire zipping towards the door catches my attention

Before I could react the door smashes open, knocking us back

"Rise and Shine, Haha!" A tall man wearing a black pinched front hat trains his hand cannon at Carla

"No!" I tackle her to the ground just as he pulled the trigger

"Hehe, How thoughtful of you" he chuckles

"Agh-ah-hah!" I gasp

I barley managed to harden my back

But the blast was so strong it took my breath away

"Kara, y-you…"

I squint my eyes

My eyelids were getting heavier and heavier until..

…

-hours later-

They beat me within an inch of my life after I woke up

"Ghk" I choke on my blood after getting kicked down the stairs that lead into some kind of cave

"Whoa, Haha. Where do you want him?" Kenny grabs me by my hair

"Right over here."

…

They chained my wrists above my head and back against a wall

My head was spinning and I was fighting the urge to just drop dead

"Kara…" I hear Eren

I raise my head

He was to my right and Historia.. She was to my left chained up like animals. Just as I was

"What happened?" I ask seeing she was bruised all over her stomach

"Oh God.. I'm so sorry.." she looked like she had been crying all day

"Wh-what happened?" I huff

But she doesn't answer

"What happened?" I ask Eren

"Everything will be okay, alright?"

I'm sure everyone's here for us

Historia slowly raises her head

"I tried everything!" She bursts into tears "forgive me. Please, I'm sorry!"

"What are you talking about?"

"Oh God I'm so sorry!" She cries hysterically

She looked insane

I've never seen her get like this

Not even for Ymir…

"What is it?! What happened?! Tell me what happened!"

"Our.. our…" she sobs

"Our what?" My eyes widen

What is she talking about?

"My baby. He killed My baby, Kara."

…

What?

She was… pregnant?

For how long? Why didn't she ever tell me?

I shake my head

What the hell is going on?

Why? Why did they kill my…

"How does it feel?" Someone whispers in my ear

It was..

Rod… Reiss

"Bastard! You killed my baby! You killed it!" Historia cries hysterically, trying to rip herself free

"Look at her and tell me how it feels to lose everything you could ever care about." He sets a hand on my shoulder "Did you hear me? I'm taking everything from you now. Just as you have done.. to me…"

"Coward I'll tear you to pieces!" Eren shouts

"You're almost out of time Rod" Kenny warns him after hearing shots fired deeper into the cave

"Right" he reaches into his pocket pulling out a little box

He slowly opens the box as he heads over to Historia

He pulls out a needle with some weird yellow serum inside

"N-no! No don't!" Historia shrieks

"Don't touch her!" I growl

"Leave her alone!" Eren shouts

I tug my arms as hard as I could but the chains wouldn't budge

"This has to be done. Once you retake the founding Titan you will be forced to abide the will of the King." he pricks the needle into her nape

Historias eyes widen and I stop struggling for a moment

"Kara.. please.." her voice trembles "p-please forgive me"

He injects every ounce of that serum into her body
