Star gazing (1)

It was Friday night. The most beautiful night of the week. It's wonderfully clear, still night. The thin slice of crescent moon shone brightly in the inky dark of the sky. Though it was a cloudless evening, only the two brightest of stars could be seen, the rest obscured by the lights from the city below. One large, ornate building in particular was lit up vividly with colored beams and moving spotlights.

Something was happening at this place on this beautiful night.

Fancy Fast cars and limousines were lined up in front of it, and elegantly dressed men and women walked carefully through the sculpted paths and up the stairs to the door, dazzling in their suits, dresses, and jewelry. Though the front door of the manor was thrown open wide, they were flanked by security guards, each one of them carefully scanning the IDs and invitations of the guests.

"I knew the Claremont's had money shooting from their ass, but I didn't realize it was this much money. This place is huge." Devon awed at the large building in front of us. It reminded me of a castle, but modern and sleek. Even at night, I could see the detailing and intricate work the architects put into the mansion.

I scoffed from the passenger seat. "I've seen better."

I felt a hand on my shoulder from behind and looked back to see Devin looking at me with a teasing grin. "Is someone a little jealous?" He teased, and I rolled my eyes, shaking his hand off my shoulder.

"As if."

Devin and Devon were family to us, my uncle's twin boys. Our dads grew up together and now work together, it was only right I call them up and put them on about the little plan I had installed for tonight, and like always Devon and Devin were down. The Claremont isn't aware of what is about to hit them.

"Okay, but jokes aside, how the hell are we supposed to get past this security? I know you two see those big ass gorillas guarding the entrance." Devon nods towards the security at the front of the manor as his sleek black Lamborghini joins the thong of vehicles looking to pull up in front of the brightly lit building.

"Don't worry. I already got it covered." Devin smiled, his lips stretching into a devilish grin.

"Please do tell because we're almost up next for the valet," Devon informed, tapping his gloved fingers on the steering wheel, inching the car forward a touch.

"Okay, so you know Dwayne Blight? Big muscles, scarred face?" Devin stated, his bright eyes looking between Devon and I.

"Yes, I know scary big ass, Blight. That got burned during the fire incident at the Claremont house how is he going to help us sneak in?" Devon asked

I chuckled to myself as I watched the twins bicker, my eyes shifting to the back of the vehicle in front of his us. It was almost our turn to get out.

"Well let's just say he owes me a favor after catching him smuggling some cocaine into the Claremont ship crew and also going down with one of Dad's assistants a couple of weeks ago despite being oh-so faithful to his little lacrosse-playing DL boyfriend," Caleb told

It was evident in the shock on our faces.

"Yep," popping the p Devin told us he was on the down low.

"But how is he going to help us though?" I questioned.

Devin smirked, his eyes darting around the windows of the car, before he nodded towards the security. "You're about to see."

Like clockwork, Dwayne Blight whispered to the other two security guards on duty. I watched with raised brows as they both nodded and exited the entrance one by one.

Devin tapped our shoulders. "C'mon, that's our cue to get out, now! Here's your mask!" he quickly shoved our mask for tonight in our hands. I looked down at mine with a raised eyebrow.

The mask Devin had brought for me didn't really go well with my outfit for tonight. I didn't dress up like I usually would, because I am not here to impress anyone or make some big-ass welcome-back speech. I just want to fuck shit up, so I settled for a simple red matching two-piece. I had the jacket of the suit open exposing my bare chest because I was too lazy to find or buy another dress shirt.

The mask Devin had given me reminded me of a knight from the Stone Ages. It covered all my face and it was black all over with silver engraving all over.

"You couldn't have gotten something more appealing to the eye?" I asked placing the mask on my face as we made our way out of the car.

Devin rolled his eyes at me, "C'mon, it was either that or this girly-looking angel one. I'm grateful I even managed to get that one on short notice. I didn't know masquerade masks sell out around this time of the year.

"They don't," Devon finished tying his mask around his face to reveal his plain black eyewear. It was simple, but it went with his black tux. "They're sold out because everyone is buying one so as to attend this party."

"Well, I think we look good." Devin shrugged, sliding his mask down on his face. His mask was the most colorful one to say at least. The glitter mask had white, gold, silver, and black all over it with jewels encrusted on the edge. It definitely didn't go with his velvet red tux, but knowing Devin he probably didn't care.

"Anyways let's hurry up and get inside before security comes back," Devon said, before making his way toward the manor. He flashed a quick, winning smile at the valet who came to greet him, pulling his wallet out of his pockets.

"Be gentle with her," he told the man, slipping several bills into his hands as he walked by. The hard heels of our dress shoes clicked on the concrete as we stepped briskly onto the sidewalks, joining the well dressed crowd guests heading towards the door.

It was go time.
