Waking Up
"Ouch!" Su Xin Yu woke up in the nurse's room at her school building.
Wait, why was she here again? Oh right, she had probably fainted during that time. How did she get out though?
Ugh, her back hurt so much. It was burning more than aching. She was lying down on her stomach and there were bandages around her upper body. As soon as she would move, the bandages would rustle against her skin, burning it more. Whose idea was it again to wrap her wounds with bandage?
She was full of so many questions, how long she was asleep, how she reached here and where the spoilt young master was.
He should have known better than just stepping into the other tunnel. One of the most common mechanisms from her tribe was a very thin thread on the doors that could trigger different kind of mechanisms. Here, it happened to be flame arrows.
The thread was almost as thin as spider's thread, thus it was very difficult to see it. She had experienced a few of the gruesome traps firsthand. This was a rookie mistake from that guy.
If she was not there at that time, the guy would have become a fried stew. She needed to talk to him. Hopefully he had not gone back on his own.
"Here is your medicine. It's a cream you need to apply twice on your back," she heard a familiar voice behind her. The lady in high heels, who had just entered the room, threw a cream tube to her and looked at her disdainfully.
"Oh, Doctor Long!" Su Xin Yu tried standing up in her bed but the soreness from lying down and the injuries were not helping her. She plopped down back with a sigh.
"Don't sweat it now, do it after I'm gone," the doctor told her coolly. Dr. Long was always amicable to her, what was with her attitude today?
"Uhh… thank you. Could you tell me how long I was asleep?" Su Xin Yu was still polite to her because she was still her elder. Dr. Long was a prodigy in her field and had assumed her position as head doctor of the school at quite a young age. Li family was her patron and she had old ties with them. Everyone in the school revered her. She was pretty too, so she attracted quite some attention, especially from boys.
"Four days," Dr. Long still answered her question.
"Four? Oh my God! What about my classes? Damn!"
"Anyway, just apply that, I'm leaving." It looked like Dr. Long wasn't interested in her patient at all. Wait a minute.
This lady was an epitome of gossip. She knew each and every student in the college. Did something happen with Dr. Long, why did it seem like she had personally offended her?
"Oof" After Dr. Long left, Su Xin Yu tried getting up again. If it was so bad, why did not Dr. Long get her a nurse or something?
After a few tries, she finally got up and took a look at the cream on the bed. It was to soothe her burnt skin. How was she supposed to reach her back now though?
She got up from her bed on her knees and then removed her bandage. A seething pain went through her whole body.
Then she went to the mirror to see the extent of her injuries. Her back had burn lines, mostly because of the arrows cutting through her skin in a vertical manner. This would leave marks. Not that she had a parent to nag her on how she would be able to marry and stuff.
She was still looking in the mirror, her top body naked, when the door to her room burst open.
"I heard you're awake. How are you… Oh!" Her nemesis had arrived and he was gawking at her. He had also seen her without any bandages on her chest, the full extent of her 'fullness' was visible. More than that, her body was as perfect as he remembered it on the night of his forest visit. To think there was this beautiful human being under her nerdy façade!
Su Xin Yu hurriedly covered her body with her arms. "Could you not knock? Where are your manners?" Dean's son or not, this Li Ming Hao needed to learn some etiquette.
"I am sorry, I did not see anything," he turned around and covered his eyes. Su Xin Yu saw his action from the mirror and her fuse blew up. What was the use of covering his eyes now? Idiot! At least he didn't give her attitude and apologized.
"Get out now, I need to apply this ointment," she faked her anger. She was chuckling inside at his 'do not know what to do' attitude.
"What? Why would you apply it? Where is Dr. Long?" He was speaking through clenched teeth. Why did he become so angry suddenly? Su Xin Yu wasn't sure what had suddenly happened. Who would deal with such a volatile person?
"She is probably busy somewhere. At least just stand outside, I could wear my gown," she resigned. She had no strength to be yelling at the guy.
Li Ming Hao obediently stepped aside behind the curtain which was covering her bed around. She donned the gown that was provided to her by the clinic.
Su Xin Yu hissed as the gown touched her bare skin on the back.
"Everything alright in there?" There was a hint of worry in his voice.
*You should be worried alright, this was all because of you!*
"Yeah, don't worry. You can come in now," she replied to him. While her open wounds were stinging, she needed to get rid of the guy as soon as possible so she could go back to her rest perhaps.
Her gown was very loosely tied. It must have been quite painful, the cloth brushing against her wounds. But there were no clothes beneath the gown so his imagination started running wild and heart started pounding.
