Chapter 17: failed to meet

Getting in safely and being able to relax calmed their nerves then hunger follows. Hiori opened her backpack and took out two bottles of mineral water and four bars of chocolates. Hiori then handed them out to the others then she said "cut the chocolate bars in half and share them, these two water bottles are to be shared among ourselves as well."

the Watanabe Sisters shared the chocolate bar, along with Haru and Kaede, Hiori and Mumei. Rin saved the other half for later.

They drank the water in sips.

the first night came, Hiori gathered everyone, they formed a circle shape as they sat at the floor. Hiori then grabbed her backpack and took out a small blue colored bag, inside it is a square shaped hardtacks.

"inside this is a hardtack, it may be tastless on its own but this is the only thing I have in my bag, I also have a few more bars of chocolates but it may make us sick the next day if we also have it for today. Please satiate your hunger with this." Hiori said with concern, she also grabbed first and took the first bite.

the others looked at her as they gulped on their own saliva then they also grab and eat the hardtacks, they finished it.

How can they be picky at this situation? when none of them didn't have a single water bottle on them. They felt grateful for their leader. they thought for themselves 'how lucky we are to follow this person, we must pay her after this.'

After the first night the second came then the third follow and so on. A week passed by just like that, inside the storage room are eight bottles of mineral water already finished to it's every drop and a 12 packet of chocolate bars along with 8 small blue bag with a few crumbs inside it. Hiori's survival food and water are almost gone.

on this Seventh-day they didn't intake any water or food. though Hiori still have one water bottle left and 2 chocolate bars, she didn't take it out. she would only take it out if they truly can't take their hunger or thirst anymore but as for now she should observe first.

April 19th, Monday

they formed another circle then Kaede talked first "can we go out and take food?"

"I think we can go outside, they... the zombies outside aren't making a fuss. This might be the right time to go outside." Haru replied

"yeah we can't go on like this, and we might be able to see people that can help us as well?" Rin pitch in

"we can go to the school's cafeteria, it's nearby. we can cross out meat and vegetables, but they must still have food we can eat and water to drink." Rui-sensei also joined the coversation

Mumei express her thought "the school cafeteria might not have food anymore, it's been a week since zombie broke out, help didn't came since then. if there are survivors like us in here they must've thought the same thing and also went for then cafeteria."

the group stopped talkingas they silently gulped their own saliva .

Hiori sighed

the others heard her sigh, they looked at her with their misty eyes.

Hiori also looked at them then she said "Our house is nearby, Just half an hour walk away from here to there. it may take us hours or even faster depending on what the situation is. We can take shelter there, and if your houses are nearby...along the way we can also stop by and see if your family are safe then take them with us"

Haru then said "that's a good plan, but we may need a transportation that can fit us all if we also bring in our relatives. ahh but no need to bother to come to my house as I only live by myself."

"I have a car, it's parked at the side of the school gate, it's a five seater car but we can all fit in there. I think we should come to the Sakamoto household first then along the way I can grab a extra gas tank at the gas station then I can go to the next house then come back again so on..." Rui-sensei stated.

everyone nodded in agreement

then Rui-sensei followed, she said carefully with unsure tone "Everyone must prepare themselves for the worst. I can't say that your relatives are all fine that would be me giving you a false hope."

everyone went silent, Kaede then looked at Hiori as he asked "Why to your place? can't we go to hers?" he pointed at Mumei

Haru smacked his head not too hard "idiot"

Kaede hissed in pain, he rubbed the back of his head with his hand then he stared at Haru "what? why did you hit me? I'm just asking for a reason..." T . T

The gloomy mood faded with this action

Haru then answered "let's just say that your house is empty and have no gate or walls, just open, okay? would you then recommend going to a empty and unprotected house in this situation? idiot..."

"oh... sorry hehehe"

Hiori sighed then she said "A week before this I went to a shopping free, I bought a lot of things. I think it can last for a month or two."

"then we can go and invade stores for food and other supplies" Kaede said enthusiastically

"Why do you seem so happy about this" Haru said as he looked Kaede in the eyes squinting.

"I mean it sounds fun...?" Kaede answered as he rubbed his nose

everyone stood up and readied themselves, they took their weapons wtih strength.

Mumei grabbed on to Hiori's backpack "I'll carry this" she said

Hiori checked the weight of the backpack first, feeling that it was light enough she gave it to Mumei.

Hiori then grabbed for the wooden sword, her other hand reaching for its case but before touching the case it disappeared. She looked at her side and she saw Rui-sensei's little sister. She looked rather familiar.

Already hugging the case Inoue said with sparkly eyes "senpai can I carry this for you?"

"you looked familiar..." Hiori said out loud what she was thinking 'alright'

Inoue giggled "Mm, I helped you when you got dizzy... first day of school."

Hiori nodded "thank you for your help that day" she said. But she actually forgotten about it.

"Mm~ It's okay, it made me really happy being able to help you" Inoue said then she left Hiori and went to where her older sister is.

Mumei saw all of it.

'so that's why she looked so familiar, it was that little girl...' she thought to herself

Hiori opened the door, Kaede went ahead and got out first then Haru followed then Rin and so on still making the triangle form. Hiori was the last one to leave the room

at the second floor inside the classroom was a group of six male with a lot of girls.

tables forming a long line at the middle the spare tables were knocked down blocking the gap below the standing table, each table has a flipped chairs above it. the extra chairs were moved at the corner making another line, the girls sat there.

a faint groaning like sound escaping from the two girl's mouth, their eyes tearing up. while the other girls tremble in fear at the corner side as they 'wait' for their turn.

the two male grinning ear to ear as they do the girls below them, the other two rubs theirs as they watch.

the other two was at the window, one standing looking outside and the other seating on the floor while his back leaning at the wall. the guy standing the looked below and saw a small group of people. He squinted his eyes seeing a familiar face he smiled, then his smile turned to a chuckle.

"so she's still alive" he muttered

"Yuki, did you say something?" Shoto asked with his eyes closed

"it's nothing" Yuki replied

"so it is something"

Yuki looked away then he also sat at the floor, he chuckled then he said "I just saw my girlfriend"

Shoto opened his eyes in surprise "she's alive? as expected of your girl. Is she alone? or with a group?"

"with a group"

"girls?"

"there's two guys"

"ohh~"

"they're leaving though" Yuki smiled

"aii... that's too bad. But why are you smiling? have an idea where they're going?

"No."

"looking at your grinning face, I assume you know"

Yuki shrugged

"selfish"

They killed all the zombies at the gym, they got out still keeping the form. Hiori and Haru changed position, Hiori leading again at her side is Rui-sensei guiding where to go by pointing at the stick time to time and at the other side is Kaede, the three unarmed is inside the form, Haru at the back protecting their backs.

the zombies at the school ground lessened, but it's still a lot.

they walk silently and when zombie came to close them they stab them on their head, killing it. They kept doing it till they arrived to where Rui-sensei parked her car.
