Chapter Nineteen

Three days had passed since the incident with the werewolf and me meeting Kyllan again. I sat in this chamber without any social contact besides the maids and Azuna who checked on me for once in a while. Sighing loudly I laid in the thing I called a bed and stared at the ceiling.

I haven't heard anything from Kyllan since the night he intruded into the castle. I wondered how long he was in the chamber waiting for me and I hated the fact that I did go outside. I would have had more time with Kyllan if I stayed in my room. Giving myself a slap I stood up and looked at myself in the small broken mirror I had in this room. I was skinny. Skinnier than normal. I never had an athletic and perfect body which the fairies always wanted to have and desired. I would call my body type as healthy. But it was common that shifters normally don't have the 'perfect' body. We shift into different types of animals and automatically eat their normal nutrition. But if I would have been a warrior or a healer I would only eat fruits and salads and all of that stuff and that would lead to me having their ideal body type.

I brushed my fingers through my hair and sighed once again loudly. I heard the door handle jiggle and Azuna entered the room along with Ophelia. "Elyana", Ophelia cried out and crushed me. "Ophelia I can't breath", I replied as her arms were slung around my body and cutting away my oxygen.

She apologized and took a step back. Her eyes ran along my body. "I thought the werewolves ate you alive, I haven't seen you in ages. No offense Azuna", Ophelia stated. Azuna rolled her eyes at Ophelia with a small smile placed on her gorgeous face. "We have seen each other a few days ago", I replied. "Days, years it doesn't matter it was too long", she cried out as she slung her arms around my body. "I'm alive. Everything is okay", I patted her back lightly.

"You two are worse than mates." Ophelia and mines head snapped to Azuna. Mates, she mentioned once again that word that I didn't know what it was. "We may be not mates but definitely soul mates", Ophelia sassy replied. The questions lingered on my tongue and I wanted to ask it but a maid entered the room. She bowed her head to Azuna and then looked at me and Ophelia. "Your majesty awaits you in the dining room. Dinner is soon to be served", she exited the room and I looked confused to Ophelia. She shrugged her shoulders and we both looked at Azuna.

"I do not know why the king wants to eat with non-werewolves." Azuna turned around and went over to the door. "Come on, your majesty doesn't like to wait." Quickly I looked at Ophelia who was already making her way out of the room. I followed them both and had two questions on my mind.

First, what are mates? Second, why does the king want to dine with us?

Silently I followed Azuna because I still didn't know where what was in this gigantic castle. It was more like a labyrinth. A lot of corridors that looked the same and somehow it always felt like you were walking in a circle.

We reached a huge room. It had beautiful chandeliers hanging from the ceiling. I looked at them closely and I bet those were some expensive crystal. I bet it looked magical during the day when the sun would hit the crystals and create a rainbow.

There was a big dining table in the middle of the room made out of some dark wood. I counted ten chairs but as my eyes wandered along the room I saw that there were more in the corner which could be added to the table. Maids hurried around and put some delicious looking and smelling food on the table.

There were windows that were quite long. The started at the ground and reached till the roof. I watched in awe. This room was more than luxiours. I've never been in the dining room tin Estreia but I think this one would still look more expensive. There were some slight things that I would do to enhance this room like decorating it with some plants.

I walked over to a stool but a hand stopped me from pulling it. "Where are your manners", a maid scoffed and slapped my hand away from the stool. Bewildered I looked at her as she scurried away into a room which probably was a kitchen. Azuna giggled behind me and I spun around meeting her glance. She had her arms crossed and looked amused. Ophelia stood beside her and she looked as amused as Azuna.

"What?", I asked. Ophelia giggled and covered her smile with her slim hand. "The first to sit down is your majesty", Azuna answered. "Oh."

I walked over to Ophelia and stood beside her. She poked me with her finger into my rib cage. As she realized that I didn't do anything she continued poking me. "What are you doing?", I loudly whispered. "I'm bored", Ophelia replied. She continued poking me for probably a few minutes.

"Will you stop", I nearly shouted. I snapped my head to Ophelia but her head was turned to the front.

"Stop what?", a deep voice asked. I nervously gulped and slowly turned my head around and met the grey eyes that mesmerized me each time I looked into them. He stood there tall and in a beautiful, fitting outfit. He wore a linen short with black pants. He wore a thick coat over the linen shirt which was made of light brown fur. It looked puffy and comfortable.

He walked to the biggest chair which more looked like a throne than a chair. It was the only chair that was padded with a dark green material. It reminded me of the forest. The rest of the stools were padded with a material in a brown color.

We all waited patiently till the king sat down. I've never seen somehow sitting down so elegantly like him. Even though it was only sitting down he still did it with grace and radiated power while doing so.

Azuna walked to the chair that was the nearest to the king and sat down. I guess it was because she had a good relationship with him and was a high-ranked officier. I sat down next to Ophelia who was sitting in between myself and Azuna. The room was dead silent. No one started eating and I wondered if we waited for some guests but Azuna mentioned before that the king doesn't like waiting. I grabbed the fork and instantly felt Azuna eyes roaming on my hand. Slowly I put it back next to the plate.

My gaze never left the empty plate and suddenly I heard someone grabbing a fork and cutting something. I felt Ophelia elbow me lightly and I quickly looked over to her. She was about to put some potatoes on her plate and nudged my hand. I slowly nodded and she put some potatoes on my plate too. My eyes scanned the whole table and I saw a lot of food that was delicious but most of it wasn't vegetarian. Since I was in my fairy-form I wanted to respect my culture and took a bowl which had a classic salad in it. There was some lettuce with tomatoes, onion, cucumber and a white sauce with some seasoning in it. I put a small portion on my plate and looked at the other plates. Ophelia had potatoes and a steak with some beans beside it. Azuna had fish filets on her plate with some vegetables that I didn't recognize and the king had like Ophelia a huge steak on his plate with some cooked carrots and asparagus which were wrapped in bacon.

They all began eating while I stared at my plate not knowing if I should eat it. Ophelia elbowed my side and I took the fork and took a small piece from the potato and slowly ate it. My gaze was fixed on the plate and I didn't dare to look up. The potato was delicious, it wasn't too over-seasoned. After swallowing the piece I took another and continued doing so till half of the potatoes in my plate disappeared in my stomach. I continued eating half of the salad and nearly wanted to moan at the delicious taste. I took a big portion into my mouth. I swallowed it down but it somehow got into the wrong tube and I began coughing. Covering my mouth with my hand I tried stopping coughing. My eyes began to water and with the other hand I wiped the tears away. Ophelia patted my back roughly and after a few seconds I was alright and swallowed the rest down that was still in my mouth.

As I wanted to eat some lettuce I noticed that it was deadly silent. Slowly I looked up from my plate and saw that the king was intensively staring at me, his eyes darker than normally. Azuna noticed the tension that was slowly creating. "You okay?", she asked me and I nodded my head slowly. I looked back to the kings plate and he was nearly finished with his food. His hand was tightly gripping his fork. His knuckles were white and I wondered why he was stressed or tensed right now.

I looked back to my plate and put the fork down, deciding to not eat any more food. I didn't want to cause another uncomfortable situation in the presence of the king of Rivakh.

The others continued eating normally and were soon finished with their food. Azuna called for the maids and they all hurried back into the dining room as if they waited for this exact moment. They took the plates and scurried back to the kitchen. "Stop", the kings voice boomed through the whole room. "Turn around and show me the plates", he commanded. The maids turned around and one of them was visibly shaking.

"Why isn't this plate finished", he asked but not the maid. He looked at me and I gulped. "I am not hungry anymore your majesty", I silently replied. He raised his brows and I think that his jaw tensed for a slight second. "Finish it."
