End of one life, beginning of an another.

Taro, a 17 year old was lying in his bed reading his favorite manga Naruto Shippuden. He was suffering from a rare genetic disorder called Thalassemia. Those affected by this disorder will not live past the age of 17 years and if they were rich and opted for the costly gene therapy during their childhood then then can extend their life for some more years. Taro was from a middle class family in japan and even then his parents worked very hard to save him. At one point they were broke and even had to sell their family house, they were even shunned by their relatives but they never gave up and always encouraged Taro to be happy and live a carefree life. They moved away to the hinterlands of the city so as to afford the rent and worked double shift to pay for their son's medicinal expenses. Taro was very understanding and had long accepted his fate, he told his parents to stop spending so much and he just wanted them to be together with him. But his parents never changed and continued to work extra to treat him. Since it was a important for them Taro didn't refuse again and went along with all their requests and underwent painful treatments.

Due to his failing health he dropped out from high school and was always bedridden and his only pass time was reading manga. His favorite was Naruto and he made sure he caught up on everything related to it even the annoyingly long fillers in the anime. He had been following the story from a very young age and his only wish was that he wanted to know the ending before he died. Fortunately for him today was the release of the 700th chapter, the final chapter.

After reading the whole manga Taro felt a sense of fulfillment a rare feeling these days. Taro's family worshiped Buddhism and Taro always wore a small silver amulet with the carving of buddha on his person, it was with his family for generations. He held the amulet and silently prayed to thank the god for extending his life till today as his only wish had come true. He still felt reluctant to leave his parents but if he died now he wouldn't have any resentments.

Just as this thought went through his prayer he felt drowsy and his vision began to blur, the sounds around him slowly faded and Taro didn't realize that his body was giving out and he was slipping away from this world. He was dead.

After sometime Taro's mother who was working outside came in to check upon her son. When she saw him Taro had his eyes closed and there was a small smile in his face. She thought that he was asleep and went away. Poor women would not know that her son had passed away for several hours.

The next day, Taro's funeral.

Taro's relatives in a rare show of kindness allowed him to buried in their ancestral graveyard. One could see the Taro's crying mother and his father trying to console his wife. They knew this day would come but they were not by his side during his final moments and this weighed on the conscience.

After the funeral process was completed everyone departed and in a few hours there was not a living soul in the graveyard except for a person garbed in a monk's attire standing before Taro's grave.

The monk recited his prayers and he opened his palm wherein lied a small amulet. If Taro's parents were to see his palm now they would for sure identify it as Taro's amulet.

The monk was about to leave but before that he said something before the grave and the next moment he vanished.

His words were " The Amulet of the first sect head has been received. As a fair trade i will grant you a boon, you shall reincarnate wherever you wish. Let this life of yours be filled with happiness. A mi to fo."

After he left a streak of white light left Taro's grave and flew towards the starry sky never to be seen in this world.
