CHAPTER 18* SPOILER* (TITLE AT THE END)

Garen followed after them sneakily and soon, he followed them to the merchant camp site. He moved towards a place were his view isn't obstructed and saw all that was going on.

From where he was, garen's brain went into overdrive and looked through the clues in the camp. His eyes swept through the footprints, the broken branches and other easily neglected clues, he deduced that the guards were 12. Not 8. The others disguised themselves by hiding among the treetops or inside the tent at some hid in the dark. Even though they are more than the bandits expected, they are still outnumbered and outmatched.

The 15 bandits crept slowly towards the merchant camp site. Even though they outnumbered them, the young boss must have want to eradicate the enemies with minimal losses at his side.

They moved silently and crept forward. As they reached the maximum distance to shoot their short bows. A crossbow or longbow are strictly kept by the Roland military. Only a bit are smuggled into the market by influential nobles or powerful general and the bandits have no connection nor riches to get sort weaponry so they can only make do with shortbow.

The mercenaries, either Sat or walked around the camp site. They have no idea that a rain of death would soon descend.

One of the mercenaries on the tree, maybe his body was stiff due to staying in the same position for a long time, stretched his body and turned towards another direction. Unfortunately for the bandits, the direction the man turned to was theirs and he had a full view of them.

"ENEMIES ATTACK. ARROWS INCOMING." The guard shout at the top of his lungs and in just three seconds, an arrow buried its self in his throat. The arrow threw the guard backward and pined him to a branch. The branch soon broke under his weight and he fell down. His neck was broken in different place and his head twisted backward.

Though the guard died a miserable death, the damage has been done. As the shout rang out, the other mercenaries took cover and dove under chairs and table or hid at the back of the carriages.

The dive merchants let out a scream of terror and tried to escape. By this time, only five seconds have gone by when the lookout shouted and the arrows flew through the air.

Shouts of pain rang out among the people in the camp. An arrow tore through a guards shoulder. The guard let out a cry of pain and before the cry went down, another arrow found its way into his head. His cry was cut shot and he slumped down.

Two guards were downed by the rain of arrows and another injured. Taking cover, the mercenaries wait it out at the arrows.

Though the sunrise attack was a failure, As soon as the arrows were exhausted, the young boss didn't wait for the pressure on them to alleviate and other a charge. The bandits let out a savage warcry and the sight of blood and lifeless bodies sent their blood boiling.

They rushed at unarmed mercenaries and brought their brutality to bear. An huge muscular bandit, rushed at one of the mercenaries who rushed towards thier weapons. The bandit roared loudly and brought down his raised axe on the unarmed guard.

The guard raised his hand to shield himself from the brutal blow as he shout on top of his lungs. The bandit didn't care and brought down his blunt axe on his hand. The axe came down with a brutal force. The axe tore through the mercenary hand and broke is hand. The mercenary shout and he struggled to get away from the bandit.

The bandit kicked the mercenary on his chest and brutally pulled back his blunt axe. He raised his axe again getting ready for the sure kill.

The mercenary, rolled away and stretched out his hand, grabbing a sword. He raised his sword and deflected the axe. The bandit laughed out loud, seemingly to be happy at his blow being deflected. "GOOD, GOOD, ONE MORE TIME." the bandit shout boisterously. He pulled back his hands seemingly ready to deliver an endless torrent of blow.

The mercenary still in great pain, pulled back his only useful hand as his left hanged uselessly by his side. He opened his eyes wide ready to catch any move made by his opponent.

The bandit roared in laughter and did something unexpected by the mercenary. He spat into the mercenary eyes. The mercenary was caught off-guard, but quickly reacted. He moved backwards and swinged his sword aimlessly. The bandit dodged the unfocused attack and quickly got in a favourable range.

His axe found its way to the mercenary chest and tore through the flesh and the force pushed his chest downward.

The mercenary fell down and the bandit got over him. He raised his axe and launched a relentless blow on him. The mercenary cried out for mercy, but he was only received a merciles laugh from the bandit.

Soon the bandit was covered in blood of his felled enemy. His eyes were bloodshot and he was filled with bloodlust. The bandit looked around and quickly went after who he presume as his next victim.

This type of thing happened all around the campsite, though sometimes, the bandits were at the receiving end.

"HOW DARE YOU BASTARD." a tall huge mercenary clad in full body armour and wielding an halberd rushed out angrily at the bandits. A fearless bandit rushed at the man, but before he could get to five step to him, the mercenary halberd whiped out fast and sent his head flying. The bandit momentum was exhausted yet as he died. He walked two step forward, before his headless body fell to the ground.

Garen furrowed his brow as he saw the scene. The martial warriors are quite strong. In a long distance or if he his hidden, he could easily take the life of this halberd wielding warrior, but if the man get within ten step to him, he would be more dead than dead. He can't look down on them any longer.

"STAY YOUR HAND!! I AM YOUR OPPONENT!." One of the martial warriors of the bandit rushed at the halberd wielding warrior and slashed at the halberd mercenary.

The mercenary swung his halberd at the bandit. The sword and halberd clanged together.
