CHAPTER 11 SOUL EYE

"first, sit in the position that's most comfortable for you." the boy did as he was the oldman again told him to stretch out his hands, which he complied to without a single question. The oldman placed a sickening white orb on his hands.

"this is a soul orb. I will help you extract the soul energy and direct it towards your soul eye. All you have to do is concentrate and achieve control of the energy once it's close to your temple." the oldman explained the use of the orb to the boy and the boy nods his head.

Garen closed his eyes. Time seem to fly by and he soon lost the concept of time. Finally, he felt a surge of power, a kind of indescribable energy, flow through his hands. The energy slowly traveled, from his hands to his hearth.

As soon as it arrived at his hearth, the oldman urged him to take control of the energy. "Concentrate. Feel it rushing through you. It is your hands, your legs. A part of your body. It will concede to your demands."

The boy concentrated with all he had and try to move the energy, but to no avail. It was like he was doing something stupid like trying to move a table with his mind. Finally, he felt the energy succumbing to his command.

"your soul eye is located at the middle of your forehead. Direct the energy there and compress it." he didn't know where the voice was coming from, he heard the voice all around him and he subconsciously did as it instructed.

He moved the energy upward and as soon as it reached the centre of his forehead. The energy were being slowly being compressed. He had to pit in a lot of effort to do it. He felt like pins were being inserted into his head.

Time went by and soon his head was covered in sweat, the pain increased by alot. "keep it on. Don't stop, your soul eye is beginning to form, try and hold on."

Garen persisted a while longer, his head was ringing, his brain felt fuzzy, it felt difficult for him to breath and he felt an invisible rope tighten around his neck.

Suddenly an explosion occurred in his mind. He was disoriented and the world seems to spin around him. Having gotten hold of his bearing, he felt as if something is growing at the middle of his forehead.

He touched the place and felt nothing. His forehead is still as smooth as it as always been.

The oldman burst in laughter and showered the boy in praise. "good, good, you are quite talented. It only took you a single try to actually form your soul eye. Good, good."

The boy was ecstatic. He had taken his first step into being a powerful being. Someone who will no longer mover at the whim and wish of others.

He felt a slight throbbing at his forehead and some kind of mental gate. He felt if he open this gate, he could let whatever is behind it out.

"don't open your soul eye. My soul is something someone of your calibre can see. It will deal irreversible damage to your soul." the oldman warned him and prevented him from doing something that would have otherwise been disastrous for him.

Then he felt the energy in him slowly dissipating. Though at the rate it is trickling away. Though it would take about three days before the whole energy dissipate, he couldn't help but be alarmed. He couldn't allow such to happen, after all this is what makes him different from normal humans.

"MASTER, THE SOUL ENERGY IS DISSIPATING." he shouted with all his might. "don't worry this is natural" the oldman dismissed is worry as irrelevant.

"normal?" he said feeling confused. "you said the soul energy is what makes a sorcerer. It powers our sorcery how can it be used when it keeps dissipating?" he couldn't help but ask this question. After all if the soul energy keep trickling away, sorcerers will only have limited power.

The oldman smiled a little and then explained to the confused boy. "it is because you haven't created a soul palace. The soul palace is the most important for a sorcerer. It is where you store your soul energy. Without a soul palace, your soul energy will naturally dissipate."

Garen looked eagerly at the man, expecting him to tell him how to form his soul palace.

"you can't yet form your soul palace. You will need a large number of souls and masterful control over soul energy. When you fulfill this two conditions, you can then form your soul palace and be counted as a true sorcerer." the oldman ruthlessly destroyed his expectations.

"get more familiar with your soul eye and I will teach you some simple sorcery."

The boy quickly forgot his disappointment at not being able to form his soul palace and look forward to using his first spells.

"Garen, don't be too eager. Sorcery isn't a type of magic you can play with. Most sorcery include the domain of soul. So most of the spells are targeted at the soul. If a soul is mistakenly harmed, it is nigh impossible to rectify it. So be cautious with how you use your powers." the oldman warned him sternly. He could see the eagerness written all over the boys face. Should he cause irreversible damage to others or worse still himself, it would be a tragic event.
