To Be-lie-ve

Later that day, I was sitting in the library hoping to finish up my homework ahead of time when a loud thud interrupted my concentration which was followed by a harsh shush from the librarian. I lifted my head after a start and saw Rena in front of me, heaving as if she had just finished running a marathon.

“Whose cat were you chasing?” I said in a low voice so the librarian wouldn’t have a problem with us talking. Although at my question, Rena flinched a little before recomposing herself and glared at me.

“The one your friend stole from me thanks to you.” She spoke through gritted teeth and it was my turn to recoil. I didn’t mean to remind her about that.

“I didn’t know he wasn’t going to give Cookie back!” I explained her once again as I did a hundred times before. Who knew my so called friend would be so evil at such a young age?

But like before, she scoffed at me. “Whatever makes you sleep during the night.”
