Death. When someone dies is really the end of life or is there life after death?

Di Aya, a twenty eight years old woman with a successful career and a bright future ahead of her died under continuous gun shot through her heart and head after a week of horrifying torture under her crazy twin sister's hand and her hired men.

Her mutilated corpse was then thrown and fed to the wild beasts in a dangerous and forbidden forest leaving no evidence of what horrific experience the dead woman had.

As the wild beasts we're having a feast, an invincible mist float out of the mutilated corpse and float over it while slowly forming into a woman's figure.

When the figure of a woman was completely formed along with her distinctive features, the woman's face was then revealed. This woman was no other than our protagonist, Di Aya.

The newly formed body of Di Aya was layered by invincible mist while her flawless and beautiful face was pale and void of the horrific marks and and wounds of her mortal body.

This was her soul, but unlike other souls, Di Aya's soul was layered by invincible mist and a strange aura. And despite her soul body being in a peaceful state, there was a frown on her beautiful face while her eyes was continuously trembling as if trying to open.

After a continuous struggle, her eyes slowly opens and a purple light glints through but disappears as soon as it appeared.

'I don't want to die!' When this thought passed through her mind, her dazed eyes slowly regains it's clarity.

What appears before her eyes were a pack a strange beasts feasting on a mutilated corpse. They appear to be a pack of wild ravenous wolves but it wasn't the normal color of wolves on Earth.

The 'wolves' have dark green to light green furs with sharp and huge silver-pointed claws. They were about twice to thrice a size a normal 'alpha' wolves on earth, have blue and yellow eyes and smelled-like a mixture of pine and wild grass.

'Extremely bizarre.' Aya thought.

'Am I still on Earth? And —' Before she could finish her thoughts her eyes twitched a couple of times before a shock expression appeared on her face. 'This corpse… my body… I —'

What appears before her, her current state, her surroundings… everything's strange. Her memories until her death were still with her but she had no corporeal body.

'Have a turned into a ghost?' Before the thought of it sinks in she felt the air stagnates and heard a voice inside her head screaming at her, [Hide! Quick!]

Aya's 'new body' quickly moves accordingly and hid herself under the cover of the gigantic trees, wild vines and exotic plants.

She doesn't know what they were called nor why she choose to go there but she 'felt this place as safe', besides that, although she doesn't know why she has to hide but, she can clearly felt a familial warmth from the voice so she decided to trust 'it'.

She was greatly alarmed by 'it' though, because the voice that screamed at her wasn't external nor was it heard by any other living beings aside from her.

"Who are you?" Aya waited but there was no answer.

When she was about to move out of her hiding place 'it' spoke, [Don't move. Someone is coming for you. If you want to ask me anything then… We can only communicate through your mind.]

And as 'the voice' had spoken, they can here a rush of winds from above them, and two male voices were heard. One younger and one older voice. Out of curiosity she silently peeked through the thick leaves.

There, she saw a strict-looking bald old man in a traditional black and white kimono with a long katana on his left side. He was good-looking despite his age but what caught Aya's attention was the youth beside him.

The youth was tall and handsome with long black hair tied by a black and silver hair ornament. He was also wearing a traditional kimono but with a white and silver motif. And as she had observed so far, this youth seems to have a superior status than the strict-looking bald old man.

[Who are they?] She asked 'the voice'. [Why do you say they're coming for me?]

[They are Shinigami or what you call as 'Death Gods'. Of course, since you died in their jurisdiction, they are here to collect for your soul.]

[Shinigami… If they are 'Death Gods' then who or what are you? Why can we only communicate through my mind? Are you also a ghost?]

When 'it' heard her say ghost it replied in an indignant tone, [Who are you calling ghost?! I am a Legacy spirit left behind your dark witch grandmother to you. You can call me Chuantong.]

[Wait! You're saying my mother is a dark witch? Not white or light?] Aya was confused because she can still remember her mother telling them every time that their grandparents were some kind of healers during their childhood bedtime stories, so at one point in her life, she thought her grandparents would have been 'white or light witch' because they're aligned to the 'good side'.

It was later on, when she was around twelve that she was 'disillusioned'.

'I guess I've been bias and influenced by the media too much.' She concluded.

Chuantong laughed when she heard her.

[Miss Aya, only a dark witch legacy can be activated through death and it wasn't even a sure thing. Many die without being able to activate their legacy because their souls were far too weak to awaken us.]

[Then, my soul is stronger than average?]

[More like 'extremely special'.] Chuantong's answer puzzled her more, but before she could ask her she heard the mad voice of the young Shinigami.

"Find her! Contact the other members and find her no matter what! Urge! Where's that stupid soul?! Making me do a lot of paperwork! Stupid stupid stupid!"

"Yes, team leader!" The old man hurriedly replied before vanishing in a whirl of wind along with his team leader who went to the opposite direction.

Aya heaved a sigh of relief. [Chuantong what would happen to me if they catch me?]

[Ordinary souls were extremely weak upon their death and would be in dazed state for a weak. Making it extremely easy for the Shinigami's job completion, but other strong beings' soul would be in a dazed state for a day at the least before they could regain their consciousness.

Most of them struggled hard but were quickly subdued by the Shinigami in-charge and thus, had to face punishment before going to their destinations.

While 'Special souls' would have to undergo countless investigations and interrogations before being trialed and then receive a decree from the higher-up. But most likely, their consciousness would be eradicated and thus, they would be dead in every sense of the word.

So miss Aya, as someone with an 'extremely special soul' you mustn't be found by them no matter what.]

[What do you mean by 'extremely special'?] Aya was horrified.

'If my soul is 'extremely special' then what would happen to me? Complete annihilation? No way! I just died! How can I die again? I don't want to die! I'm not crazy! Who says I'll just accept death?!'
