Chapter 5

Finding the ring

The youngster had never run so much in his life. He keep running and running until He left the cover of the trees and found himself in front of a huge lake with pristine water.

He then turned around to look at the forest and realized his mistake.

"I ran deeper into the forest!"

The deeper one went into the forest, the more dangerous creatures one could encounter.

"Oh no...this must be the blue lake." He said with terror in his voice.

Before coming to this place, He did a bit of research about the Red Forest. The book makes mention of a big lake in the eastern part of the forest called the blue lake, but the name wasn't given for the color of its waters but for the creatures that made their nest surrounding the lake.

Loud grunting noises were heard.

He was startled by the sudden noise and turned.

"No...."

Approaching him were two Blue-eyes white gorillas. The creatures were almost three meters tall with thick white fur and piercing blue eyes. They were one of the most dangerous beasts in the forest and even an Official Magus would not want to face them, especially because they always hunt in groups.

He tried to back away but then heard another grunt from behind him, there was another gorilla there.

"Im trapped."

"Over here! I can help you!"

He heard a loud voice in his head but when He turned to look around there was no one there.

"Where are you!, please help me!"

"Look into the lake. You will find something shining nearby. Pick it up"

He did as told, not even stopping to wonder how finding something shiny in the lake would help his current situation as the Gorillas slowly approached him.

He did spot something emitting a faint green light near the shore of the river. He tried to approach without making sudden moves that would trigger the gorillas to jump at him.

He dipped his feet into the waters and bent down to pick whatever was emitting that light. He dig his hand into the muddy ground until He felt something hard, and pulled it out.

He held the object in his palm.

"A ring?" It was a very simple-looking jade ring. He has seen many of those with much better decorations so He wasn't impressed.

"How is this going to help me?" He wondered if He has been deceived.

"Put the ring on your finger, hurry! you don't have much time." The voice said in an urgent manner.

The gorillas keep approaching slowly but not stopping and were almost next to him already.

The young man, seeing no other option, chose to trust the voice and put on the ring.

Even with his limited magical knowledge, He knew that something was wrong the moment He put the ring on, He felt his consciousness slip away.

"What is happening!" He said in his mind as He could no longer speak.

"Thank you. I have waited for a very long time. Finally, someone compatible with my soul has appeared." The voice expressed his gratitude.

The young Lord finally understood what was happening but it was too late for him. The last thing He saw was a fiery hand taking hold of him and pulling him away.

Back in the real world, the gorillas stopped moving and observed the small human. They could feel that something has changed and didn't understand what.

The young man opened his eyes again and smiled.

"Yes!, I'm finally back."

The gorillas grunted loudly after hearing him raise his voice.

He looked at the beasts.

"Oh..right, I forgot about you. I can celebrate later. Let's see..."

He analyzed the situation with cold logic.

Unfortunately, his current body had no combat training and was very much out of shape, so using any of his martial techniques was out of the question.

"I guess ill just do that."

He could feel that this body had a great affinity for his yang energy and He has been accumulating a lot of it inside the ring.

Flames appeared around him and startled the gorillas for a moment, but then their instincts kicked in and jumped at him, they were no longer in the mood to play with their food and wanted to deal with the threat quickly.

The old King chuckled at their attempt and increased the intensity of the flames until it created a big pillar of fire.

The gorillas screamed in pain as the flames devoured them and turned them into charred corpses.

After the flames dissipated, the young man had a pained expression as sweat traveled across his face.

"Shit, I may have overdone it. This body is really undertrained. Ugg!" He felt a sharp pain journey through his body and his vision turned dark.

He then collapsed on the ground, not moving.
