More Introductions (part 1)

After a few seconds fo recollecting, Steve was able to see the man over him. A very strong looking adult male. His arms were defining and strong looking. he was very fit for a man who had some age on him. His face was sharp and chiseled and had small wrinkles around the man's very sharp eyes. His hair was jet black and looked oily. He adorned a slicked-back hairstyle. His clothes looked to have been worn for months. Dark blue cargo pants, black sleeveless shirt under a dark brown, thin leather jacket. On his hip was a military-style combat knife. Next to that were handcuffs.

The man spoke with a growling tone, "Don't you dare move, kid. I'm perfectly fine filling your head with pellets, knowing that you are some sort of freakish B.O.W." the man pumped a shell into the shotgun, to show Steve that he was not kidding.

Steve gave a nod as he was still trying to ease the headache he had, "I mean, YOU have the gun," Steve spoke in a slightly sarcastic and nonchalant tone to the man, clearly letting him know that Steve was by no means intimidated from this man. Steve was allowing this to proceed simply because he had a headache and laying on the cold cement ground in the dark barn felt pretty good at that moment.

The man then proceeded to place the barrel of the shotgun to Steve's head. The barrel was still warm and it smelled like carbon. Steve swallowed as his glowing eyes looked at the barrel and spoke again, "...OK!... you have my attention."

"Good," the man spoke as he was busy catching his breath. The man looked a bit tired as he spoke some more, "I have some questions I need answers. You better hope that you have the answers I want to hear."

Steve gave a soft chuckle before he gave a response, "Hey, look. I'm happy to provide answers to whatever questions you got, but I would feel more comfortable if you gave me my gun back afterwords" Steve slowly placed his hand's side by side to his head as he waited for the man's response.

"No-no-no. This is an interrogation, kid. You don't get to have requests!" the man rose his voice as he let the barrel leave Steve's forehead. The man was clearly of Steve at that point.

Fortunately, Steve's headache was nearly gone, "Well then, let's start with introductions..." Steve then smacked the barrel of the shotgun to his left, which allowed his left hand to yank the shotgun, disarming the man. Steve then did a backward summersault to his feet and pointed the shotgun at the man. The man barely had time to realize what had just happened. he just looked at Steve in shock, "My name's Steve. Shit happens... You don't always get your way."

The man's eyes were piercing, as he stared at Steve. He had lost his advantage and Steve had some distance from the man. He just looked pissed. The man then spoke, "My name is Will... Now, what are you?"

Steve realized that he had felt significantly lighter. He looked to his left and saw all of his weapons stacked to the side of the barn and off of his person. Steve kept his shotgun pointed at the man as he spoke, "To be completely honest, I dunno what the fuck I am. I know I am a living person, but I am also a bioweapon of some sort. You can trust me, or not. I really don't care," Steve lowered the shotgun and walked to his weapons and started putting them back where they were before this man got involved, "My turn for a question... Why did you save me, out there?"

Will stood there, staring Steve down as he restocked himself. Will's tone spoke with firmness while also being confused about why Steve is no longer aiming at him with the shotgun, "You looked pretty damn human, back there. Upon closer inspection, though..."

"Shut up!" Steve barked out at him, as he stood straight, "I'm as human as you are! You don't have to see it that way, but it's true. I am human."

"No. You're not, kid. You're just alive," Will gave an annoyed scoff before he would lean on the barn with his shoulder, crossed arms, resting a leg, "My turn. Why are you here?"

Steve chose to ignore the man's first comment as he walked towards Will and gave him the butt end of Steve's pistol and the handle of the ax, "Well, Will... I think I'm up here, killing thousands of zombies, because of you. This is a gym designed for Umbrella agents to kill zombies and B.O.W.'s. The AI that deploys zombies into the gym has been finding living being inside here and has been trying to get you out of here. Instead of bringing you down to the bottom floor, it's been sending zombies instead. Clearly, you either know how to fight or hide."

Will stood there and stared at the gun and ax and spoke boldly, "You know? That sentence would sound really weird if Umbrella didn't exist."

Steve caught himself chuckling at his comment as he checks his ammunition for his weapons. Steve then gave Will the rest of the magazines for the pistol, which made Will even more confused. Will checked how many rounds were in the pistol already, "So what? You got some sort of honor code, where you can't kill someone if they aren't armed, or something?"

Steve glared at him in confusion, "What?! No! You're gonna help me kill all of the undead in this building. That's what the gun and the ax are for," Steve shook his head annoyed that Will still thought Steve was going to kill him.

Will glanced at the gun and then at Steve. He pointed the pistol and pulled the trigger towards Steve's head. No bang. No click. The trigger was stuck because of the safety lock. Steve stared at the man, completely baffled at his actions. "Shit..." Will spoke with honesty as Steve glared at the man.

Steve stomped his way to the man and yanked the ax and gun away from him, "You just made a really dumb choice, dude. Why would you try to kill someone who's trying to save your ass?!"

"Why is the person who is trying to save my ass a B.O.W. and not trying to kill the intruder of the building?!" Will's growl came out as he spoke, "Umbrella scum like you never hesita-"

Steve interrupted him as he shouted, "WELL I'M NOT PART OF UMBRELLA!!" Steve glared at Will. Steve clearly lost all patience with this old man. Steve then calmed himself with a deep breath before he spoke again, "How did you end up here?"

Will's eye blinked as he was clearly taking a moment think up a lie, "I climbed..."

Steve stared at him. The look on Steve's face allowed the man to realize. Steve could tell Will was full of shit, "Uh-huh, sure, how long and why are you here?"

Will scoffed as if he was not willing to tell Steve that much information. However, it was obvious that Will was just looking for another lie, "Three or four days, I think... I was being chased down by Umbrella."

"So you hide in their gym?" Steve had found Will's attempts to defend himself entertaining.

Quickly, Will points at Steve as if that was the point, "They wouldn't expect me to be here!"

Steve's half-closed eyes stared at him more, finding this argument hilariously bad. Steve gave a shrug as he exhaled. he spoke in a defeated tone, "...OK, I mean there's no point in hiding since umbrella's dead."

Will lowers his pointing finger and relaxed and he spoke boldly, "It's a corporation, kid. They never die. They'll call themselves whatever they want, Tri-cell, Neo-Umbrella... They will still do the exact same thing."

Steve gave an exasperated sigh. he was done hearing about Umbrella. He knew damn well evil will still roam the world, "Either way!... Will! There is non-Umbrella folk on the bottom floor. You can stay down with all of us after we kill every zombie here... or, I could kill you here and not need to kill the rest of the zombies and head downstairs," Steve points the pistol and unlocks the safety, "Which do you prefer?"

Will gave a heavy sigh as he glanced at the pistol, "I'm more comfortable with an assault rifle. you can give me that pistol, but I won't give you my best if you do."

This man was bargaining his life with the opportunity to hold the machine gun on Steve. This man had better knowledge of using an assault rifle then how to use a pistol. This explains why he forgot to unlock the safety of the pistol. Steve unstraps the assault rifle and stared at it as he tried to guess why he knows this better than a pistol, "...Military?"

Will walked closer and grabbed the assault rifle as he spoke, "Ex-Marine, Second Lieutenant," he slipped the strap of the gun past his left shoulder and it hugged his back down to his right hip, "Go ahead and hold onto the extended mags for me. I don't exactly have the pockets for them."

Steve gave a nod but sighed at Will to have admitted that he was is a Marine. So was Steve's dad. It made him instantly felt as if he should care for Will. He shouldn't. Will was right. To save time and energy, Steve SHOULD have killed Will. Steve couldn't... Steve really did not feel comfortable with a conscience that has a fallen marine behind it. Retired or not.
