Chapter 2: My Special Baby

Elisabeth Foundre POV

Today is going to be perfect I have some plans on making this the most memorable day for my baby. It already took countless nights to convince Byrone for him to take a day off and spend some family time. I swear that man is such a workaholic if I don't call him home and remind him to go home he is going to sleep in his office.

My baby is so cute with his black hair and golden eyes but is such a serious and quiet kid I had put a lot of effort to make him open up to us more, he is just like his father when I first met him. When he was a baby his nose and forehead is always scrunched up like he can't see or something, he is so adorable looking all confused like that. He is well behaved and only cries when he is alone, hungry, or needs a diaper change.

I mean don't get me wrong it's a breeze taking care of him I just wish he smiles more often because when he first smiled and said his first word "mama" to me I felt my heart melt and my day brightened. That day I swore that I will encourage him to smile more but after his first birthday he started to become nervous about the outside.

NINE YEARS AGO

"Come on baby we will go visit your dad in his office" I said to my baby who is sleeping while lying on my breast looking all peaceful and content. He is so clingy to me since he was born that this is our norm now.

"Hmmm..." He said while adjusting his sleeping position. Uahh... he is so cute if only we can stay like this all day but we need to visit his dad so we can celebrate his birthday together. That man I swear hmmph missing his son's birthday let's see who is going to spend the night on the couch.

"Fine... I'll just carry you till we get there" I said then got up while holding him, thank god he is light.

I then took my purse got outside and closed and locked the door. I waited on the side of the street till I saw a taxi and yelled.

"TAXII" It stopped in front of me then I got in carefully so that my baby will not get disturbed in his sleep. The middle-aged driver looked in the rearview mirror and asked me where to go, after I answered I relaxed in my seat and looked at my baby.

He woke up and blinked his eyes looking around with a confused gaze until he met my eyes. I smiled because he is sooo... adorable huhu then I said "Good morning sleepyhead".

He smiled at me and then rested his head on my breast while looking out the window at the streets outside. The taxi stopped at a streetlight then at the streets there is a fat middle-aged man chasing a person who is wearing a hoodie while yelling, "Stop that guy he stole something from my shop!"

The person who is wearing a hoodie is making a turn towards an alley when suddenly his hood got yanked and he fell on his back on the floor spilling the contents of the plastic bag he is carrying. The person who pulled on his hood saw that he has green skin after his hood is removed then he spat on the ground *Ptui!* and said "Fucking freak! Always causing problems to others"

The middle-aged man arrived while panting and said "Thank you" Then he kicked the person on the ground in the stomach and said, "You should just stay there freak!". The person curled up from the pain, how could they be so cruel? He looked like a minor.

The guy who stopped the kid helped the middle-aged man pick up the things scattered on the ground, are those fruits? Then the middle-aged man thank the guy again and they both parted ways. The kid is curled up on the ground holding his stomach and the people looking at the scene eyed him with pity some disgust but mostly indifference. No one helped him and he got up wobbly and walked towards the alley.

The taxi started driving again then the driver whispered under his breath "Those freaks they are pests in society" but I still heard him. Why are they looking down on them? they are people too they just have some special gifts. I chose to ignore him because nothing good will come out of arguing with him instead I looked at my baby. My baby looked nervous and scared, why?

"Hey baby what's wrong?" I said to him, is he scared of what he saw? Ohh... It is his first time seeing a mutant right? He looked at me nervously and smiled "Nothing mom" then buried his face in my chest. I just patted his head and said "Don't worry we're almost there"

PRESENT

After that day he became even quieter I had to put a lot of effort into him to not become scared of the outside but, when he is four years old, he refused to go to school and insisted that we homeschool him. I want him to have friends his age so I denied him but when he showed that he can already read and count and said that it will only hold him back I compromised and said to him I agree but that he will have to attend middle school.

I know that my baby is smart but I didn't know that he is a genius, the only thing that I read to him are children's books when we sleep in the afternoon. Hahh... what am I going to do to him? my baby is so special and he is going to attend middle school in a few months.

Aghh... enough, today is a day of celebration for my precious baby boy so I looked at him in the rearview mirror while we are sitting in the car. He is looking outside warily like something is going to come after him when he noticed me looking at him he smile at me so I smiled back and shook my head and looked ahead.

I hope nothing bad happens today, I want my baby to enjoy his day and always have a smile on his face.
