Chapter 2- Returning (1)

"Yay!" Happy that things had worked out, Klee smiled.

"Hmph…." Smirking, Kenzo stood there awkwardly, between the raft and the boulder.

Taking a few explosives, she casually tossed them to Kenzo, who smiled wrily. Really child? Tossing explosives around? That isn't exactly safe….

Watching in interest, Kenzo laughed as Klee delightedly brought out a giant egg-like bomb. Then, with no warning, she threw it into the water, the item sending a huge ripple through the lake.

The bomb dipped to the bottom, spooking the fish below. It rested at the bottom of the lake for a few seconds, before something happened.

*BOOOOMMM!!!!!*

A loud underwater explosion occured, sending giant waves cascading to every side of the lake, water splashing down upon the two like rain.

Immediately, the raft was ripped away from under Kenzo's feet, but he had anticipated it, and flipped into the air. Ears rattling, and the smell of sulfur in the air, he landed, hair still swinging in the air, on top of the water.

On top of the water. He landed on the water's surface, not sinking nor falling. It was as if the water, to him, was solid floor.

"C'mon Kenzo! Let's go!" Klee clapped her hands together, ignoring the fact that Kenzo was standing on water.

Soon, the vibration of explosions shook the surrounding earth, and the poor fish of Mondstadt were once again, in dire straits….

Three Hours Later

"Klee… We should depart now… It might rain soon." Smiling, Kenzo patted the child's head, the smell of grilled fish strong in the air.

She looked up innocently, her lips covered in crumbs.

After they had proceeded to gruesomely annihilate every fish in the premises of the pond, along with a few unlucky birds. Though it was extremely morbid in some ways, in this world, some more strange things were quite acceptable by society.

The lives of animals were held in less regard around here, besides the likes of cats, dogs, and horses.

Kenzo had been tasked by the Acting Grandmaster of the Knights of Favonious to take care of the "problem child" long ago, and the two had quickly become great friends.

They had gone on many adventurers and explored every nook and cranny of Mondstadt together, along with a few of their other friends.

Bringing a child around on possibly dangerous journies wasn't exactly the smartest of ideas, but Klee was different. Besides being a complete pyromaniac and a very sweet child, she could definitely hold her own in battle. Spark Knight Klee of the Knights Of Favonious was an awed and respected figure.

And, he was here. Kenzo was completely confident in his abilities. In his previous life, though by a different name and in a different body, he was an extremely adept fighter, known to every nation with perpetual fear.

Once again, the two headed off, with Kenzo looking back at the lake in amusement. With the heavy smell of smoke in the air and a few random charred craters, it seemed like the lake had gone through a warzone….

Looking up into the sky, the sun had been shrouded by a blanket of grey clouds, a stark contrast to the morning's clear blue sky.

Picking up the pace, Kenzo and Klee passed Starfell Lake, a small but well tourist location outside of Mondstadt. It was basically a small body of water with a giant boulder/island in the middle of it. One of Klee's many locations to fish bla- fish.

It didn't exactly benefit Mondstadt's tourism industry though. Many visitors would not in fact see a clear and beautiful small lake, with a large boulder in the middle, but instead, a bloody and charred lake with a large boulder in the middle….

Suddenly, Kenzo twitched, feeling a wet droplet make contact with his nose. His eyes darting, he soon heard the sound of water falling to the ground. It was raining.

*tap!* tap!* *tap!* *tap!* *tap*

"We better pick up the pace." He said to Klee.

"Yup!" She nodded, clutching her backpack.

The two started to break into a sprint, running down the dirt path alongside Cider Lake. In the near distance, they could see the giant towering form of Mondstadt, its city walls lit up with torches and lanterns.
