Chapter 28

————————Rangiku's POV————————

Captain Isshin just told us he had something to do and he disappeared for 2 days. Now out of nowhere, Sakura appeared and tells me he's been exiled for abandoning his post.

After crying for about 15 minutes, I calm down. Sakura tells me that she had recommended me to be the new Captain and I had to be tested by fighting Captain Kurotsuchi. I was about to refuse but she then told me about his hatred for her which makes me immediately change my mind.

I wanted to suggest Toshiro, he's too young even though he is quite powerful. I guess it's my job as the lieutenant. Plus I didn't want another person we didn't know anything about becoming the Captain and changing the 10th division. It was perfect as it was and I have to do something to make sure it stays like this.

After about 40 minutes I was standing in an arena in the 1st Division staring at Captain Kurotsuchi. All the Captains' eyes seemed to be glued at us in anticipation.

"Start!" my darling shouted as she jumped out of the ring leaving me with Captain Clown.

"Scratch out, Ashisogi Jizō" said Mayuri said as his Zanpakto turned into its Shikai state.

"Growl, Haineko" I said as the blade of my Zanpakto turned into ash.

"Hai-gatame ame" I added and the ash collected together to form 9 ash katanas circling around me.

"Your zanpakto turned into ash, mhh interesting" as Mayuri as he shunpo towards me.

I quickly send a katana to intercept him and pushing him back. I move my hand towards him sending 6 katana flying at him.

He jumped to the left dodging the katanas but they turn and one manages to impale his arm as he barely dodged the rest. I withdraw the swords and they joined the 3 that were left circling around me.

With my command the ash sword that was through Mayuri's arm starts expanding. Noticing this Mayuri does the unexpected and cut of his arm. The other Captains gasp at this.

"Tsk you are quite strong, I admit" he said as he injected his shoulder with a syringe which he then throws away. The other Captains gasped again as Mayuri's arm grew back.

"Bankai,: Konjiki Ashisogi Jizō" he said smiling creepy as a caterpillar with a baby's face and an angel halo appeared.

I immediately threw all the swords at Mayuri before his monstrosity did anything. It jumped in the way thoroughly blocking my attack.

"Your ability is useless against my Bankai...." he said before I cut him off.

"Bankai,: Hai no kyodaina Futao neko" I said as a tornado of ash formed around me revealing a giant two tailed cat made of ash.

One of its enormous tail turned into ash about ten times that of my Shikai.

"Go " I said and the cat pounced on the caterpillar baby, leaving me with Mayuri again.

"You are a pesky one" Mayuri said as he pulled off one of his his golden ear ornament which turned into a katana.

"Hai no hyō" I said and all the ash of the cat's tail turned into kunais. Which start raining on Mayuri. After many attempts to dodge he is finally overwhelmed by the thousand kunai.

I started feeling dizzy which caused me to fall on my knees.

"So it's starting to kick in, huh" said Mayuri who was now missing both legs and an arm.

"That's enough" the head Captain finally said.

After injecting a syringe with his remaining arm and his body grew again, he threw the antidote at me. Then just walked off to his division.

"Well you do have what it takes to be a Captain, you only lack fighting experience."said Yamamoto as he walk off, "you can go order your Haori today if you can, Captain Matsumoto"
