Chapter 65: Pearl Institute

"I heard about the kid and his innate talent of the Chaos element"

Liu Mingrui's talent was called Chaos affinity. It wasn't a unilateral talent. It was a branching talent. It made his body and soul have insane affinity with the element and therefore great cultivation speed.

His classmates were still at the second tier of primary level while he reached the third tier.

It was more than just improved cultivation speed but everything depended on how far Liu Mingrui took the element. It didn't provide any additional boost of the bat. Even still it was an insane talent nonetheless.

"But your strength is a bit low, so you can't join the main Campus without some time and effort, go with professor Lu over here, he is also the professor for Chaos element in the main and outer campus"

The Chaos element was rare. The pearl institute didn't have a seperate class for outer and main campuses. There were only eight students including Liu Mingrui who just joined. Professor Lu taught both classes together, the only difference was that the reaching the main Campus afforded students with more or better resources.

The eight Students weren't just from Shanghai either, it included quite a bit of the nearby areas as well. Of course from the Advanced levels the element wasn't all that rare. Take Professor Lu for an example, his primary was Summoning, he was also a teacher in the outer campus for the Summoning element.

His Tertiary was Chaos, the previous professor for the element had left the institute and he now taught all the classes.

Another middle aged man stepped in to the office as if on cue and led Liu Mingrui away.

" I heard about your before last night as well, your teacher was boisterous about you and your double Innate elements in Lhasa"

"Hehe, Dean you aren't the first person to say that to me"

In public his talent was double Innate elements instead of Innate Heavenly seed of Summoning. He wasn't sure what was better but his teacher seemed adamant on it. Currently only his friends, Zhan Kong and Zhan Kong's teacher knew about it. Even Fei Jiao his combat instructor only knew the front that he put up and Dean Xiao was the same.

In order to make it seamless his teacher 'had bragged' about it in Lhasa during a conference. It seemed his teacher irked more than one Super mage with such a good student.

"Which institute do you want to join?"

"Space"

"I see, do you want to join the main Campus immediately? If not I have a proposal for you. Join the outer campus as a freshman and participate in the academic exchange with the Imperial College and of course win"

" After all you missed the freshman initiation and the resources that came with it, this way I'll push some extra resources your way in return for a stellar performance" said the Dean

"Sure, I am not picky about how I get my resources"

"Now on to the second matter, I heard you had an idea for a Formation that needed my help"

"Yes, Dean Xiao but first of all I wanted to know if you were stronger than my teacher".

Forbidden Curse mages had two choices, reveal their strength and live under the magic associations faulty rules and watchful eye. Meaning every time they used a Forbidden Curse they needed approval from a Magic Association.

Or another wise hide one's strength and live an ordinary life like a normal Peak Super mage. There was nothing ordinary about a peak Super mage, but it seemed to work. Stronger than my teacher was his euphemism for Forbidden Curse.

"You could say that" said the Dean with his arms open.

"My idea was to harness the strength of natural flowing water. As we know water flows from a higher elevation to lower without any external force other than gravity. And even demon beasts do not obstruct the flow of water in the wilderness. We could lay a Formation from one end of a river to the other two harness the energy of flowing water and make it power a barrier.

If this system can become a reality, any city with a perennial water source nearby can drastically reduce their cost of maintaining a barrier. If they use a Terra Water Pistil as the barrier core then it is possible to theoretically increase it's lifespan infinitely provided there are no interupptions to the flow of water"
