Chapter 52: Jinling City

The reinforcements from Ancient Capital arrived on time and began constryas soon as they could. The administration was compiling lists to decide which squads could return now and which squads needed to stay and other details.

They had done intensive missions for a week, some form of rest was necessary. The army would however need to rotate the squads for rest.

Nominal construction and formation laying were already underway. By using magic for construction it gave them a lot control and reduced time necessary for planning and execution.

Fortunately Gao Xuan was not included in either of these corps. The military were about to announce the first squad that would return to Ancient Capital tommorow morning when a high priority order came through.

Although they could travel by night, Ash Garlic was an important resource only meant to be used in high priority situations.

The HQ had ordered Ancient Capital military to lead a troop of soldiers to Jinling City near Dongting Lake. Ancient Capital was the nearest headquarter city but normally would not have been ordered to go at night as it would be a death sentence.

But now with Undead ignoring those who are Ash Garlic and didn't use magic, the logistical capabilities of Ancient capital had been unlocked. Even better was the fact there was a troop outside the area of Undead and could travel using magic as well.

"What happened?" Fei Jiao asked the general Lu who recieved the message.

"The demon horde of Dongting Lake has invaded Jinling City, they need emergency back up" Lu Xu went on " I'll hold ground here, the two of you are Wind Super mages as well, so lead the combat troop to Jinling and help them, Ancient Capital will send some Imperial Mages as well"

Fei Jiao and Sun Yuan were both Wind Super mages, they could use spells to speed up the entire troop.

"Assemble everyone and leave in ten minutes"

Lu Xu gave the order.

---

Soldiers who had been roused by the alarm made their way in an orderly manner and stood in line.

Cao Guang's squad who had been making plans for returning made their way as well.

"Listen up, Jinling City has been invaded by the demons, we need to give back up to them. You will move out with the two of us and support them. Is that clear?"

"Affirmative"

Eight hundred mages made their way out of the military base. The military had moved out of Carp Village after the construction corps built a temporary buildings in the designated base.

Cao Guang had picked up a useful resource form Carp Village as well. He didn't hold back since it had no residents any longer. The abundant energy inside Little Tora pendant had allowed him to bring his Summoning Nebula to the second tier as well.

He had been elated and thinking about having a drink when his plans were derailed again.

Jinling City? In the canon this city was destroyed about a decade befors Mo Fan and others made it there, the time matches. So Jinling City will fall. Another tough mission. Squad warfare against a horde with no backup wasn't enough. I could have broken through to the second tier of Space Nebula in a week or two after relaxing.

"This could be tough" Luo Heng sighed.

He felt his Lightning Nebula loosen up and was attempting a break through when he notified. Luckily he had succeeded. Gao Xuan wasn't far away from a second tier Nebula of Light element either.

And now they were deployed to Jinling City.

" For the sake of smooth operation, Captains and squads will remain the same. All advanced wind and earth mages will use one of their elements to speed up the group. There is no time to be lost. Move out"

The troop made their way in an orderly formation where they were sped up with Earth Wave dragging them as they ran. It was like running on a horizontal escalator, they moved and the ground moved as well.

When one Earth mage was tired the next one took over and so on. The troops were sped up in a relay manner. Occasionally the Generals would step up with a Wind spell carrying them a larger distance.

Everyone was hoping that they would get there fast enough and strong enough. They could not reach there and be useless.

Half way to Jinling City, the military from Ancient Capital caught up with Fei Jiao's troops on Heavenly Eagles. Heavenly Eagles were the standard flying mounts for the military.

They were tamed beasts instead of Summouned ones. They needed stricter training and upbringing but had no need for the Summoning element. Sun Yuan borrowed an eagle and went ahead with Heavenly Eagle squad while Fei Jiao trailed behind with nine hundred mages.
